    EDIT: OK, I found 5 donkeys at 1615, -35.

That's the spot! Thanks BigAlanM, I probably should have actually tried going back there first before replying. I just remember it being in the general vicinity.

I also found horses near village 4 at (1705, -1060), but I think I prefer the location of village 3. Just seems easy to link villages 1,2,3 with a road/rail. Since I am building my permanent home in the desert oasis in the mountains, I am using village 1 as my main resource village with rabbits and pigs. Then I put cows and chickens in village 2 and plan to build stables in village 3.

My guess has always been that horses spawn differently for each person. I also had trouble finding them on this map, but did eventually find them. On the map I posted, they were to the southeast (according to direction sense in game) of what I labeled "Village 3" (1570, -200) in the grassy area across the river. Hope that helps!

Ravines add variety, I don't care what they are called or whether they are plausible.

Went with a random generated world that put me on an island. I went exploring and went due east across the water and came to the main land mass in a desert biome. Then I came upon a massive mountain oasis that shoots out of the middle of the desert and rises clear above the clouds! Next to the oasis is a desert village with a blacksmith. Exploring further east, I came across a natural pit that very quickly leads to the beginning of 2-connected abandoned mines full of goodies. Going more east, I ran into two more villages (village 2 may have had diamonds in the blacksmith, cant remember now).

As I explored around further in this world, I documented 2 temples, 2 surface dungeons, and 4 villages. I'm adding a MCMap graphic with labels showing where everything is. I setup camp in Village 1 while I plan out how to build my home throughout the mountain oasis. Since Village 2 and 3 are so close in their Z axis, it was easy to build a rail line between the 3 villages. Between Village 1 and Village 2 is the pit to the abandoned mine so I put a minecart stop there as well.

In the surface dungeons and temples, there were diamonds, horse armor, and other typical goods. Anyhoo, its a cool map and worth checking out. If you are a purist on survival, your biggest challenge is going from the spawn island to Village 1, but you should be able to hit it before night. On the graphic, the villages are a little larger than how they start out, I added to them and built city walls. Enjoy!

posted a message on WHY OH WHY 1.8! [The Good And The Bad!]
I love any new update that adds "optional" content. Those who like it can enjoy it and those who don't aren't forced to use it. For me personally, I like any update that adds new decorative blocks.

So far I have enjoyed the new update, runs perfectly fine on my 6-year old computer. Lots of new things to try out!

I don't think pigs have ever been useless, but I have always said that it would be great if they dropped leather. Now that rabbits drop leather scraps, maybe let pigs drop an amount of leather that between a cow and rabbit.

posted a message on Why small children and Minecraft don't mix
My brother is older and when we were younger, having two separate profiles for any game never had to be addressed and was always a given. Going back as far as games like NES Zelda (I was 7), my instinct was to start a new character. I guess at those ages (8 and under) everyone is going to be at different stages developmentally.

posted a message on Adding furniture to fill your home out more
Good grief the community is harsh today! Yes this idea has come up often before and yes the forum rules say not to repeat suggestions. When someone is fairly new, they are not going to know a suggestion has been said dozens of times when it is buried in almost 3000 pages of threads. The search box is far from perfect so you can't use that as an excuse either. A simple "this has been suggested before" would have sufficed.

That all being said, if we can steer this in a more constructive direction, many in the community would like furniture. However, as KingzofDawn mentioned, you can make your own that has the basic appearance. What I assume the OP is getting at is furniture that is interactive like beds. I would like a chair I can sit in (not just a stair step). I would like a table I place a cake or flower pot on (not just a fence post and floor plate).

In terms of priority, I put these kinds of ideas low on the totem pole compared to plug-in API and other bug fixes. However, once those things are squared away, I would love to have rooms filled with items I can do more than just look at.

posted a message on Minecraft 1.7.5 modding dead since Minecon 2013 ?
I see it like this: would you prefer to depend on MCP/Forge/Modloader for the rest of Minecraft life or would you sacrifice some downtime for a plug-in API? I don't think it was intentionally planned for mods to be stuck in limbo like this, it just sorta happened that way (i.e. the perfect storm Korihor mentioned). At this point we have two options: get MCP/Forge/Modloader back with a dead stop on the plug-in API or continue waiting it out for the API and cut the umbilical cord on MCP.

There is no such option to have both just in case anyone was thinking of wandering outside of reality. This situation stinks and we wish it to get done as quickly as possible, but in order for one of the two to happen, the other has to be let go.

Oh boy! Three new types of stone?! I can't WAIT to experience the thrill of utilizing the exact same block THREE MORE TIMES! Iron trapdoors, you say? As if wooden trapdoors weren't obvious enough. Hello, it's called TRAPDOOR, not OBVIOUS HATCH TO SECRET BASEMENT. More interaction with villagers? You mean the annoying squidward noises they now make? Even BETTER!

My response wasn't based on personal opinion, yours is. The OP comment was that NOTHING new was added, I was simply correcting them. I didn't say whether I like them or if the changes were good or bad, but it needed to be clarified that changes had in fact been made.

By your response we now know your true colors. When you complain, it's all based around what you want and what you think should be done and how the game is ruined for millions of people because you didn't get what you want. amrite?

But there is one thing bugging me. There are no actual changes to survival.

Yes they have. They are adding 3 new kinds of stone with crafting recipes for them. They are also adding iron trapdoors and more interaction with villagers. Granted, the villagers need some more work, but as others have said, it's still in development. All of these features affect Survival mode.

The dragon can fly, making it harder to hit, and you have to knock out the crystals. That justifies it for me.
