What's even more impressive is that he launched this as an actual game on several platforms at the same time. He's started making his own games so he can re-create them in Minecraft!

Microsoft can access all of your data on any device if you are using it.
I think you greatly misunderstand what Xbox Live is for. It saved us from having to make a new authentication and friends system, we just linked into an existing platform.

Anyway it's curious they aren't hosting it like they are the PC version of realms. I guess since like OP says, Microsoft owns it now.
I think you're confused. Microsoft owns Mojang, so they own everything, it's not like they've run off with our new service. What this means to us is that we now have teams in two locations, working together, to bring you new stuff. Realms for PE/Win10 runs on Amazon AWS servers the same as Realms on PC, and all of the backend stuff happens right here in Stockholm.

Railcraft does feel a little out of place, but that was mostly because I had fond memories of using tanks to hold a variety of liquids. Since rails are already in Minecraft, I didn't feel too bad adding in some more complex ones.

Cool to see the server featured! We've been having a lot of fun with it the last week or two, and there's a lot of great videos coming out from many different perspectives. We're starting to think about taking on new streamers and YouTubers, so follow @Magicraft on Twitter and we'll let you know if/when they open!

I made a Mojang.com blog post for all of the new content that's been put into Realms recently! Get it at mojang.com/2015/11/realms-map-round-up

This forum is filled with people looking for friends to play with! I think you can find some.

Hey everyone! People have been asking for some ways to get competitive, so today I've added GerryBrano's UHC BLOX to Minecraft Realms! UHC BLOX is a very customizable UHC (ultra hardcore) deathmatch map, allowing you to do things like put people on teams, show health above your opponents, or even shrink the world border if the game takes too long. Remember, in UHC maps, your health doesn't regenerate except by using golden apples, so you'll have to do your best to stay alive!
To add this to your Realm, as a server owner, go into your Realms settings, select a map slot that you're not using, click Reset World, click Adventure Maps, then select UHC BLOX.

Hey Realms players!
Today I'm publishing Monster's Tower, by Vilder50 and Matdog1999, to Minecraft Realms! It's a tower defense game where you deploy towers, kill monsters, and earn gold for better towers! Survive ten rounds and you win! There are eight levels, and one special level.
To get Monster's Portal, as a Realms owner/admin, go to your Realms settings, pick a world that you're not using, click reset, click Adventure Maps, then select the map. An older version is also available for regular download at http://www.curse.com/worlds/minecraft/230302-monsters-portal.
If you try it out, leave a comment!

Heyo! I've just published SunBurn: Reforged to Minecraft Realms. To start it (as a Realms owner), just click on minigames, select it, and your server will be switched over to that game. Try to beat your own time, or play with up to ten friends!
If you have fun with it, let me know!

Hello! Marc from the Realms team here. We've got a bunch of minigames, adventure maps, and survival spawns pre-loaded into Minecraft Realms, and I'm going to start letting folks know here as well when we get new content! There are a few new maps and games lined up for the future, but today I'll show off the latest map that we've uploaded: Lucid Nightmare.
To select a pre-set adventure map like Lucid Nightmare, go into your Realms settings, select a world that you're not using, click reset, then click Adventure Maps.
If you've got comments about the map, leave them here! If you have a map that you've created and would like to see it on Realms, submit it on Reddit.
Have fun!

I haven't had a ton of time recently to add in other maps, as they've had me working on other projects. There are definitely some in the pipeline though!

Right now, if you switch to minigames, you can try out Pizzaspleef, Bloxorz, Diamond Defender, and Knockback Madness. If you use a world template for a new world, you can select Spellbound Caves or Diversity 2, a new favorite of mine!
We'll be bringing you new games, maps and even some survival spawns in the next few weeks. If you have feedback, feel free to let me know on Twitter at @Marc_IRL. Have fun!

There aren't any guidelines or material. We don't have a script to read from. I have the EULA like you guys do, and I can always send an email to someone if I have a question. I answered a question based on my knowledge, and Grum has now said that I was incorrect and "content" may not cover mods. I defer to him on this, and apologize if I've upset anyone.
I would also like to add that the questions have come in fast and furious, and while I've answered a number of things correctly, the issue became so convoluted that it almost immediately became difficult to track. There is clearly a history of baggage and drama, and almost anything will set off a flurry of related and unrelated arguments, some that people have been having for years. I've even got modders telling me that people are using my words incorrectly, for their own agendas. So, at this point, if someone has a question about the EULA, they can email support. If we don't have a definitive answer, we'll pass the email along. I want to be as precise as possible, and Twitter (and in many cases, MCF) is not the most appropriate means for this.

That poll is like saying "I support the rights to horses getting higher education!" No one would really not want that, but it can't happen regardless.

I picked the less nonsensical choice, but don't misunderstand me. I think the poll on this topic was created from a misinformed viewpoint, so the poll itself is sort of invalid, regardless of the results. It's not that modders should or should not copyright content, it's that they cannot do so.
Edit: Some have said that I've misunderstood modding rights here, and if I have, I apologize. I personally don't think that modders should need to be lawyers waving legalese at other modders or players, with some modders having Minecraft crash because they're upset. But that's in a perfect world, where everyone is nice to each other.
I'm going to be honest with you guys here, I am not a lawyer, and I don't want to delve too deeply into arguing which parts of which viewpoints expressed in the previous posts are correct or incorrect. I can tell you that the EULA is fairly clear about most of this, and I'm awaiting further clarification on the "malicious code" bits.
What I can say though, is what the spirit of the EULA is supposed to be: don't be a jerk, and we won't either. Mojang likes modding because it's good for the community. We don't allow people to sell mods. If you're going to make a mod, know that people will probably use it in ways that you didn't necessarily anticipate or intend for. Once you release a mod, it's out there, and all you can do is update that mod with some measure of consistency, and know that most people who enjoy the mod will go to you for the download/info/etc.
You shouldn't put malicious code in your mod that shuts down the game, or somehow infringes upon someone else enjoying the game. If you're butthurt about your mod, that you released to the public, being included in a mod pack, you may be in this for the wrong reasons. That being said, people who release modpacks also shouldn't be jerks, and in my opinion should correctly attribute the individual mods to their authors with some sort of contact info (Twitter, website, MCF post link, etc).
