    In Game Name: GoldFox9478

    Age: 37

    Country: Canada

Are you familiar with Discord? What is your Discord ID?: GoldFox9478

How did you hear about The Sanctuary SMP community?: I was looking through the MC forums for new servers, and you were on for front page. I really liked the video, so I thought that I would give it a try.

What is your favorite thing to do in Minecraft? I love to mine (and collect blocks)

What is your favorite/preferred base/building style? I tend to stick with medieval builds.

What is your favorite memory you have made in Minecraft? playing early beta and actually killing Herobrine. That was a great day.

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP? I enjoy the raw aspect of survival. The block know-how needed to acquire whatever builders demand; the "taking fate in my own hands" every time rare items as needed, and I just happen to have the bravery to go get it; the community aspect of helping newer player find their own way in the MC world. I'm a hardcore MC survivalist as heart, and I love it.

Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy? I love board games with friends and family, reading fantasy books, and getting involved in my paramilitary group.

posted a message on Monster Invaders (Space Invaders Shooting Gallery Style)

    A map review by MapKiller

Hey all! I'm back with another review. This time it's Monster Invaders.

    Here we go.

    Basic Concept:

This is a recreation of a really great arcade game. I enjoyed playing through this map. The mob fighting with the scaled bow system was really well built. You start with nothing and make your way through the difficulty levels collecting items that pay off as you go. No skills with a bow? No worries! There's a melee fighting option that you can buy!

    Okay, here's the breakdown:

    Pros:

    1) I loved the redstone build. Well built and hidden from view.

    2) Map type - I don't see that many arcade builds, so extra points for this.

    3) Difficulty - Well established and death friendly. Don't get too comfy; you WILL need to complete the waves you've spawned.

    4) Upgrade system - I like what you've put in place. Rewarding with feeling grindy.

    Cons:

    1) I had to go naked through the waves. I found that the armor broke easy and replacements were expensive.

    2) overall build. You have a solid concept but what you have would greatly benefit with more atmosphere. I understand that it's a flat world, but we don't need to know that.

    Verdict: 5 Gold blocks

I love what you have. It has potential for further enhancement. I'd love to see you expand the build with more games and general atmospheric buildings. Good job and keep it up!

    (rating scale is as follows:

1-10 iron blocks = early stage map with much improvements needed

1-10 gold blocks = mid-range quality map with good content quality that can be perfected

1-10 diamond blocks = quality made map; the REAL goods

1-10 emerald blocks = Highest quality map, in build, mechanics, and play.)

    Hey Gingie.

I REALLY love the feeling of this map. I had fun with the tests that you have already. I review lots of maps on this forum, and I'd love to continue reviewing this one.

You have a really genuine feeling in you build. I feel challenged to think without feeling stressed. That's not easy to accomplish. Keep up the good work.

    My recommendations:

    1) I really enjoy your take on observational tests. I would encourage you to expand on the size of the test build area so as to give you more area to "have fun" in.

    2) Logic and observation. I would suggest adding in MC logic and observational tests (for example: the underside of a workbench looks like an oak wood plank.

I really like the the "find the hidden item" challenges. I would suggest making larger builds. You seem to be very good at building, and I love your sense of personality.

    Keep up the good work

THE PLAGUE - A Minecraft Horror Map ---Map Review
    [/header]

Greeting all. Another map review from me, the Map Killer.

If you don't know what my kind of review mean, then here it is:

    1) I provide HONEST reviews of any/all maps. Totally honest content review, no B.S.

    2) I rate the map on many points of interest that impacts players

    3) I analyze it for what it is, giving you (the MC players) what you TRULY need: content quality.

    So...let's get to it.

The Plague - A Minecraft Horror Map is (in essence) a horror map in its own rites. You, the player, are introduced to the base concept of the map, being given only what information that you need to get started. As you proceed through the map, you are immersed into the feel of the map right away (a real bonus).

    The Breakdown------

    Pros:

    1) I LOVE the heartbeat system used here. It's a subtle way to build atmosphere without having to burn too much time building it. Good work.

    2) The usage of player models in the map are TOP NOTCH. Far too many creators under estimate this feature can have to their advantage.

    3) Game-play time. For a first installment, the completion time is right on; just enough time to get players into the map's feeling to want another installment.

    Cons:

    1) This is a prison build. The generic build feels lacking. I would encourage the creators to invest time into learning the subtle art of advanced block placement. Look it up on YouTube. Their are TONS of tutorial videos to give you tips on adding variance to the build to give it an authentic feeling. The prison/dungeon you have going would benefit greatly with a more decrepit look (considering the map genre)

    2) English. I would recommend a spell checker. There were many errors. Spelling errors tend to break the immersion of the player from your intended atmosphere. Take time to fix these to improve the atmospheric integrity.

3)Title text. You lost a lot of words in the title overlay text. I didn't even get you see the map creator's name as it was cut off.

    4) Resource management. I ended off the map with over 40 flint. I would recommend cutting down on what you provide. It forced the player to be FAR more considerate in HOW they use what they are given. It also breaks the overall map feeling when it's lit up to hell.

5)Atmosphere. You have a really great base here. I would suggest adding more triggered sounds. Throwing random sounds at a player increases their tension (which is what you want)

    6) Jump scares. My Dudes, your jump scares were predictable. After the first scare I knew when they next ones were situated. Your build style was far too obvious, giving me PLENTY tells when it would hit me. You should hide it more. Add in false positive triggers to throw off the players so they have more anxiousness when approaching the next potential areas.

    The final verdict:

    7 Gold Blocks

You have something really good here that can REALLY get into player's heads, just with some improvement. I like the map. I think that your skills will improve in time and effort. I look forward to what comes next.

    (rating scale is as follows:

posted a message on Nix Parkour Plaza V1.1.6 (52 Levels, 6 Challenges)

    Map Review: Nix Parkour Plaza

When it comes to parkour map, I am very skeptical, mainly do to the fact that most are really lacking in many aspects that make it a MAP, not just a jump-a-thon. That being said, this build had REAL potential. Not only are the areas well built and spacious, they also have lots of atmosphere.

One bonus that this map , are the LOADS of respawn buttons (for when you mess up and need to get back).

I WILL WARN ALL YOU HATERS OUT THERE: THIS IS PARKOUR, YOU WILL FAIL!!!!

Now, let's get to the real part that you all want.

    The Pros:

    1) Atmosphere: loads of it, gobs even. Many parkour maps lack this. it is essential to keeping a player into the map, regardless of challenge level.

    2) Challenge: Like a sadistic puppet-master, this map holds out the bonuses and checkpoints JUST far enough for you to see it, but far enough away to get you mad. I LOVE IT! It's perfectly built to give you just the right amount of incentive to keep you going.

    3) Rewards: Balance, that's what a map needs in regards to rewards. This map has that. Rewards to completing challenge stages, rewards to finding hidden stuffs. I love a good challenge with proper reward systems in place.

    4) Environment: About 75% of parkour maps that I have tested (and even reviewed) have too much environment or just not enough of it. This map builder seems to know JUST how much to put into each challenge area. Kudos to you man! Knowing to keep the balance between making it a parkour map while maintaining atmosphere it quintessential to epic builds.

    5) Difficulty: Another good system for increasing difficulty right here. I like that the areas are getting harder, while still making them beatable; rage-inducing while keeping you just on this side of meltdown. Way to dangle the carrot there man!

    6) Power-ups: This map builder REALLY knows how to add it area effect to include into his challenges! (I especially liked the double jump boost challenge^_^ )

    The Cons:

    1) Area: While I do love a good build with lots of area, I felt like I had to search for the next numerical challenge. Many people know complete maps numerically (as in 1, then 2...). I would suggest that you devise a way to indicate where the next numerically listed challenge area is so that players can get there without getting lost, as I was.

That being said, here's my final score (as of update V 1.1.6):

    9 Diamond blocks :Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond::Diamond:

    (rating scale is as follows:

1-10 iron blocks = early stage map with much improvements needed

1-10 gold blocks = mid-range quality map with good quality that can be perfected

1-10 diamond blocks = quality made map; the REAL goods

1-10 emerald blocks = Highest quality map, in build, mechanics, and play.)

Thanks for the fun play. I look forward to the next area!

posted a message on DEICIDE : Challenge the (map) creator! [Different paths! Choices! Custom textures + sounds! Unnecessary exclamation marks!]

Yes, I know that this is his first map, but there are some universal things that one MUST know and employ when making a map (like the things that I mentioned).

As ANY map makes knows, PLAY some maps by well known people to get some tips into making them (the look, game style, game mechanics). There are some MAJOR holes in this map that, when fixed, can set this map up in the top 10 EASILY.

I am fair with my map judgements (as any who know my review would say), and all I ask is that a map maker be open to improve what he has. Don't get me wrong. I REALLY like the feel and story of this map style, its just there's some holes that make the playthrough UN-enjoyable. Fix those and you have yourself a GREAT map.

posted a message on DEICIDE : Challenge the (map) creator! [Different paths! Choices! Custom textures + sounds! Unnecessary exclamation marks!]

I just wanted to say that I hated this map. It doesn't even merit one of my map reviews.

My list of complaints for this map:

    1) Terrible English grammar. Either learn to use proper English in text chat or PLEASE speak WAY more clearly. I found it very difficult listening to your voice, like you were recording with a mud patty in your mouth.

    2) Door questions (see first point). Your grammar in the spelling of the door answers way WAY too hard to figure out, let alone solve. Please correct this.

    3) Constant dying. We all HATE having to restart maps, especially YOUR map. That whole "Matrix" beginning monologue theft was tiresome (and I'm being polite here)

    4) Loosing all your $#!t. This is BY FAR the absolute WORST thing to make any map player have to suffer, and you seem to have a sick kind of masochistic enjoyment for it. Stop this. Stop this now.

    5) Multiplayer. I hope that you know that this option exists, and is used VERY OFTEN by many players; so I would suggest that you make your maps multiplayer friendly from now on. It helps to get your maps played.

    6) Free Roam. Just, WTF?!?! Why would you let the map players roam free and then MAKE THEM SUFFER THROUGH ADVENTURE MODE??????? I mean, that whole village was useless. Total waste of time. I suggest using barrier blocks, like the stupid ones that NEVER disappeared from in front of the tepel (yes, I know that I spelled it wrong, just like this map did).

    7) Command blocks. In the future, make sure that your command blocks can actually teleport ALL the nearby players, not just the one who pressed it first (and only that player). And make sure that they can be used MULTIPLE TIMES, NOT JUST ONCE!!

Those of you who know my posts (I do honest map reviews) know that I try my best to be fair; to be honest and unbiased. This map was an exception. It is the perfect example of rage in motion. If you want to get your friends mad quite quickly, this is the map you've been looking for!

posted a message on The Zambie apokalipse part 2 (updated)

(by the way, the first command block that gives the sword is broken, and the other 2 are connected by the same button)

The Zambie apokalipse part 2 map review

Ok. So here's the next installment. The story starts with you (the player) remembering where yo left off. A good start. Things happen, and you have to continue and discover what is happening.

    So here we go:

    The Pros:

    1) Continuance. I LOVE continuance in maps. It keeps me into the story. I suggest making a reward for those who remember info from previous maps. Reward systems rock!

    2) Developing story. You gotta keep it going, and fresh (inside joke)

    The Cons:

    1) Broken start command blocks. That's a good way to loose some people. ALWAYS test your builds.

    2) Small build. Don't rush it buddy. You are capable of making good builds. Effort is always appreciated.

    3) Wandering. I don't mind wandering in a map, just a long as there's a point. Wandering parts just to continue story isn't really a good thing.

    4) Cliff-hangers. You GOTTA have them. I didn't get yours.

    The Result: 4 Blocks.

There were some elements added in this part that is crucial to further development to this series. Take your time. You have a good start here.

posted a message on Chosen One Adventure Series (1188 Downloads!)

The Chosen One: Chapter One: Egoria Map Review

    Story:

You are Tony Stark, or maybe Neo, possibly even Jeb; but all you know is that you go by the name of The Chosen One, and agent in an organization whose goal is to maintain balance in the world.

The Evil Dr. Blaze is up to no good. Find out what has happened and go after him.

Alrighty. I enjoyed playing this map. Yes, this is this map maker's first attempt at maps but it was well made. The story was solid and directed, the NPCs lifelike in personality, and all in a compact setting.

    So here's the breakdown:

    The Pros:

    1) Various NPCs to interact with makes for a good story push

    2) Fair building skills (the village overall)

    3) All items and food provided in a way that it integrated into the story

    The Cons:

    1) Besides the aforementioned issue with the NPC chat (YES i know that it was too fast and hard to follow)

    2) The build felt a little too blocky, even for Minecraft. I would suggest trying to make the buildings a little more 3d, not just flat.

    3) Finding where to start the story was kinda hard, not knowing where to go, but wandering through the village helped.

    The Result: 5 Blocks

    (on the 1 - 10 scale)

Although this WAS only the first installment in this series and a little short, it was enjoyable. I look forward to the next part. Don't hesitate to try this map. Its going places. I am hard pressed to find map makers who dedicate to a series for any length.
