Personally, and it might sound mean, but I don't think PS4 SHOULD get it. Sony is a company, not a person. And the only real way to convince a company to change is by economic pressure. Minecraft is one of, if not the most popular games ever. That means a lot of customers angry about missing out on features they've always wanted, all due to Sony being stubborn.

Yep. Sony are just too arrogant to care about what their customers want.

Unless ps4 were to suddenly start falling behind in sales which I just don't think will happen then they will have no incentive to start listening to what their customers want.

So expect ps4 to never have cross play with other consoles, servers, user created addons or even infinite worlds because they will probably be too arrogant to remove any save size restrictions.

They could end up with ps4 only realms though

Saves are not and cannot be stored on external storage at all.

They are stored in the cloud and cached on the internal hard drive.

Man, the one map I really spent time exploring, I got tired of traveling around (horse/boat, no Elytra in the game at the time) after just filling in the center 9 maps. Never even started on the outer ring of maps. "Infinite" worlds? I can't even. :-)

My favourite world is an old world that was done before they added the new blocks like granite and before they added new biomes and beetroot. Had explored most of it and ended up having to abandon it and start a new map just to get the new biomes.
This is even though I have built many bases including spending hours getting grass to grow at level 13 underground so I can keep sheep in my underground base.

None of my worlds since have been anywhere near as good as my old world

Now i'm really looking forward to expanding it and never having to start a new world again

One of them was an actual producer on the game (Pops Ramjet) so I'd hope so lol.

Just saw another stream by that Pops Ramjet. Showed actual footage from the xbox one beta including world creation and the infinite world option was there. Now really looking forward to the bedrock edition.

Go watch the replay, he says it shortly after 30:00

"As it stands, when you import the world and you get to the edge, it will just automatically start making new"

Had trouble finding the part you mentioned at first. But I found it now, it turns out you watched the Minecraft UK stream with different presenters. They did a much better job at explaining things than the guy did in the american streams.

I watched the same stream (I was the one asking about map sizes.) He confirmed that maps transferred to Bedrock, from existing consoles, have infinate maps. He specifically stated "when you hit the edge of your old world, it'll just keep going with new terrain".

Remember, infinate is not literal. Even on PC you hit a limit eventually. If their limit is as big as the beta on Win10 (which it is), it will be so big as not to matter.

Thank you for posting what he said.

You must have watched more of the stream than me. The part I saw he didn't say any of that.

Anyway sounds like he explained it much better than he did the last couple of times someone asked about infinite worlds.

This is a relief as infinite worlds is the best thing about the update and the main thing i'm really looking forward to

The only thing I can suggest is wait for the better together update and see if the save will load in that.

That will be a new version of minecraft and you can transfer your saves to it. With a bit of luck the save might successfully load.

There's a save game max limit in place now. It's the same one he's talking about. I've never heard anyone hitting even near that with the world sizes they are now. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Also bedrock edition is unlimited. Period. The game is universal across all platforms. They aren't going to make a bedrock console version. I'm talking about the old console edition with that last post. As for file size.

Maybe your right. If you are then the guy on Mixer should do a better job clarifying what he means instead of just saying yes to realms and no to local.

The mixer streams have gone from saying we will definitely get infinite worlds on xbox and switch when asked about it a couple of weeks ago to now implying we only get them on Realms.

I just wish they would hurry up and release the beta so we can know for sure.

    I understood what he said.

He said worlds will be infinite on realms but not local.

The way he said it suggests you need to pay for a realm to get an infinite world

Watching another official Minecraft stream on Mixer.

A few minutes ago someone asked about infinite worlds he said Yes for Reams but no for local due to limitations.

So in other words we have to pay for infinite worlds.

This better together is starting to look like it will be a major disappointment.

I think it has to be loaded through USB.

Yes on Xbox. But if switch does have an SD card slot then I see no reason why they couldn't use that

    A corrupt save maybe?

You could try going into the consoles settings and then selecting Clear local saved games. This would hopefully allow you to pull a non corrupt version of the save from the cloud.

Press Guide button, go to Settings -> All Settings -> System -> Storage then Select Clear local Saved games. Your console will then restart and next time you start Minecraft it should pull your saves from the cloud.

A word of warning though and a disclaimer. Any saves that haven't synced to the cloud before you do this will be lost forever. Syncing is automatic so the chances of this happening is low. But the risk is still there so if you do this it's at your own risk.

How do you know you can't do this on switch?

I read the Switch has an SD card slot. Surely mods could be put on an SD card and added to the game that way?

At this point, I'm done. I'm waiting for the beta. Trying to overcome the level of Stockholm Syndrome on this forum is pointless.

They are giving us almost literally everything we've ever wanted.

    Realms? Check.

    Unlimited maps? Check.

    Servers? Check.

    Custom Skins? Check.

    Mods? Check.

Free Upgrade to all of the above? Check.

Will it have a rocky start? Absolutely. And it will also have a learning curve. It will take some getting used to.

But the reaction here, on Minecraft's own forums? Rage. It makes no sense at all.

Not sure how not wanting a feature removed is stockholm syndrome. The guy who works for mojang/microsoft totally contradicted what has been said in the past about infinite worlds. What he actually meant when he said local worlds on xbox one being limited is just something I will have to wait and see about.

The OP also had valid concerns about mini games too. I don't care about them myself but I can see why he's concerned about it. It's not stockholm syndrome if he doesn't want a feature removed.
