I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain saddles aren't found in abandoned mine shaft loot. They are found in all the other structure types that I can think of....even jungle temples and village blacksmiths.
Depends. If i.e. 1.9 just got released and it will take a few months for another major update with new biomes to come, I go for Large Biomes. But if the world is on Multiplayer or some major updates are about to get released, I go for the default.
I usually end up modding if I play on Large biomes, get some plane mods and such.
In my opinion the easiest way to find a saddle is to search for mine shafts. And the easiest way to find a mine shaft is to find a ravine exposed to the sky.
Updated the main spawn point with a few portals taking you to the North, West, South and East parts of the map. It's to spread people around the map to the different biomes they like. It can be found down the stairs behind the Community Wall. To use the portals just step onto the pressure plate and press the button. Dynmap will be updated with the portal locations later.
This thread has been inactive quite awhile, but someone mentioned the DMCA over in the current EULA thread in the updates forum and I'm wondering what the end result has been with this thus far. Anyone know what's going on?
I have heard mention of sponge recently so I know it's a thing, but I also see people still running bukkit servers using what I figure are legacy versions of bukkit that are floating around in the community.
I run Spigot on my server. You can't directly download the spigot.jar file itself, you have to "build it" yourself using buildtools and Git, It's quite simple once you get the gang of it. So the reason you see bukkit/spigot servers around is because the developers update their database daily, allowing the users to compile/build the spigot.jars.
New Beginnings is a new Spigot server running with a few game improving plugins at this moment. I have no plans on making this a huge thing but I'll see how it evolves. At this moment I only want a small community of adult/mature players who look for a server to play on with their friends or alone and get to know people.
Some people try to create a server to play on with their pals but fail and get stuck either playing singleplayer or highly populated servers with a messed up community.
Info about the server:
Hosted in France
Spigot, Not Vanilla
Online 24/7 (Unless I'm doing some maintenance or if it bugs out and crashes)
Runs mcMMO (MMORPG'ish skill/reward/level system)
LWC (Lock doors and chests)
Choptree (Cuts down the entire tree by chopping down the lowest block. It's for testing ATM)
Dynmap (Real-Time browser map)
Whitelisted
XPKeeper (A sign on which you can store and withdraw your XP from)
ColorPortals (Portals to travel across the map made of wool)
/lwc - Shows command for LWC, Locking and securing your chests and doors.
/mcmmo help - Shows all the commands for mcMMO
XPKeeper - Place a sign post or wall sign and put [XPKeeper] on the first line. More info about XPKeeper in the spoiler
/nc - Change the color of your username in the chat
/pvp on/off - Toggle the PvP for yourself. (You can't attack others/Others can't attack you)
ColorPortals - Step onto the pressure plate and hit the button
To save your XP (both LEVEL and EXPERIENCE), LEFT-click the sign with nothing (AIR) in your hand. Your XP will be transferred to the sign and will disappear from the HUD.
If you gain more experience, just LEFT-click the sign again to add the current amount to the existing saved XP.
To withdraw some XP, RIGHT-click the sign with nothing (AIR) in your hand. To withdraw all your XP, RIGHT-click the sign while SNEAKING.
You still didn't tell me what your hardware is. Please do the following and snap two pictures like I did below. Then I can guide you based on what kind of hardware you're using.
I've had the "Display driver stopped reposnding" pop up earlier myself due to outdated drivers.
What are your specs? Copy and paste or screenshot them from the "dxdiag" tool. If you're on Win7 or higher, simply press "Home", type in "dxdiag" and a window should pop up.
Wherever your Minecraft.exe is, there could also be a folder named "game" and "runtime". Delete the contents of the "game" folder. By that I mean delete "launcher.jar" inside of the "game" folder and run Minecraft.exe. It should then update itself.

You're right. That's how I used to find them. They've been removed from the mine shaft chests along with horse armor in 1.9.

Download the lastest Forge 1.7.10 client if that's what you're using along with the latest Optifine for 1.7.10
Forge - http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.7.10.html
Optifine - http://optifine.net/adloadx?f=OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_D3.jar
Don't forget to change the game version in your launcher.
Extract the file from the Optifine installer instead of Installing them and put the file inside of your "mods" folder.

Also, are all your drivers up to date? Post your specs and I'll try to guide you further on
