Thank you soooo much! you are the best! Is the 650m the amount of memory java is allowing minecraft to use, and if i wanted to raise that number according to my computer's ability, could i change that on the DOS file and the JVM argument and use a little more memory for minecraft?

Hi, I am very sorry to be a bother, I did not think this was going to be an issue as it is something i figured out on my own before. When i first tried to open Minecraft when I first got it, I couldn't open it because of the virtual machine error. I found an easy solution that worked just fine until this most recent update, in which it stopped working, even after I installed the new launcher.

What I had working before (and was wondering if there was a way to a maybe do it for the most recent update) was a notepad file that i turned into an MS- DOS Batch file that reads:

    java -Xms650m -jar "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\minecraft.exe

(input user for anonymity- not originally my computer)

I was wondering if there was a way to change this for the most recent update, since it opened the launcher just fine before. Now all it does is opens the launcher, but there is an error when I click "play" the virtual machine error has opened back up, causing me to no longer be able to play.

down below I am going to put the entire log that happens upon launching in case that will help fix the error.

If there is any more information i would need to provide i would be glad to supply it. I know for sure my java is updated completely, and I am windows xp and i dont have too much ram, but that has not been an issue in the past. Thank you so much for your time, also please try to make your response translatable by a non-tech person (seeing as all the things I have put have completely stretched my capacity for tech understanding already) Thank you so much,

how were you able to store the extra cole
The only use for coal at the current moment is for torches, so I took all the coal and turned it into torches and placed them up in a basement/storage/tunnel thing I made.

The crafting is fun. Now it becomes a pain to find coal for torches lol.
that is funny because at least how I am doing it, i have been finding way too much coal and converting it into torches since there is nothing else to do with it, and leaving it in a storage tunnell undergound... I got a little excited when I would see coal so i mined as much as I could get each time, and now I have 2 places storing over 200 torches. lol but I do understand what you mean, there was a few points in which I ran out of torches and had to figure out what to do about it. :)

Aha indeed, I also remembered that beds would be cool to craft, whether they be functional or not, it is nice to have them at least as decoration. Oh! and spiders would be fun to have because they are always good for a suprise.
I also remembered, buckets for transporting water/lava (there should be more lava) and something that can set fire and hold fire (like the fireplaces). I am really excited to see where mojang takes this :)

I shall start with saying some very good things I see with the new update. WE CAN DO BASIC CRAFTING! This makes me very happy. I really enjoy having the ability to manage resources instead of just using unlimited amounts (bricks don't count because I have decided not to use those as of now.
I am also pleased with the new addition of brick stairs, and the half sized blocks, and of course the new colored wool in creative (have been wanting orange since I got the game back in December).

Some interesting things I have come across while playing this version...
One thing that I have found funny here is as soon as you craft a bookshelf, when you destroy it with an ax, it gives you three, therefore leaving you with unlimited bookshelves if you continue the process.
I have also noticed that if you mine iron, you are unable to see the little image in your inventory, it shows up as a blank box with however many you have mined. (I have not seen gold yet, and diamond does not work with the stone pick (obviously).
I am relatively new to minecraft, should the redstone really take as long as it does to clear out?

Some things I would eventually like to see in the future (i mean this in the nicest way, no upset feelings, I understand mojang is doing the best they can, and I appreciate that. ) I kinda enjoy the random updates, it is like Christmas! anyways, these are things I would like to see in the future versions...
    1. chests (inventory is really limited and I have had to create warehouses to store my materials)
    2. Better quality (Iron/gold/diamond) weapons/ armor
    3. some other items like the furnace, so glass no longer needs to be infinite, and smooth stone is accessible
    4. other hostile mobs would be awesome (especially CREEPERS! despite how much every minecrafter hates them, they are an essential part of the life of a minecrafter (cant live with them, cant live without them)
    5. Maybe a slightly expanded world, and a sun and moon and clouds. (I figure weather may be a little to much for the operating capacity for mobile devices, as may be many of the features of the full game)
    6. to be able to customize skins and such.
    7. torches on fence posts

Again, I appreciate everything Mojang does, What I was figuring could be the case here is that people could put down their ideas as to what they like about the new update, what they find interesting of funny, or doesnt work quite right, or some things they would like to see in the future in the Minecraft Pocket Edition

    Thanks Guys!

Here is for people who really want to learn and see a sky house. I quickly threw one together that is really in minecraft PE. you build a vertical stack of any block up to how high you want your house. then you go build the house from that and then get rid of the original stack. (entrance to house can only be done in creative mode and flying. here is your real pic

posted a message on What cool, funny, or interesting thing have you built?
Thank you guys for responding and helping with technical support, and such. This has been a learning experience for me too, since I am a noob also. I think I have figured this out, but I am only going to test with one picture to start. and then I will upload more asking all of your opinions on what I should do with it.

This is my castle outer wall. this is all set (unless there is something I could do to spiff it up a little...

These are passageways in and over the outer walls so quick and efficient transport is easy

This is the front wall of the castle that is inside the outer walls. I would like to fix it so it is more castle-like and not like a government complex, but im running low on creative ideas due to my general inexperience.

This is what you see when you turn around in front of the castle wall i need to do something with the grassy area but I dont want to do anyting with more cobblestone, because I think I have placed far over 10000 blocks of cobblestone and it is getting old. lol :smile.gif:

This is an aerial view of my in-progress castle behind the huge wall/ I want an inner courtyard and I have a sanctuary built as can be seen, and the residential area is to the left.

This is the front of the sanctuary that I need to do better detail work on

Here is the sanctuary area, which I feel was one of my biggest creative moments yet which I was super happy how it worked out.

I put those in the ceiling so it would stream down on the carpet and would also stream down to my pokemon stadium below.

The throne room is at the head of the sanctuary (extra gold and diamonds for supply :smile.gif: (although it may be very nice, I dont feel that a diamond throne would be the most comfortable, but anyways...

Behind that is a ladder that leads down to my pokemon stadium (maybe when updates happen down the road, I can get a zombie spawner... :0 )

This is the royal suite that overlooks the stadium as accessed from behind the throne.

There are two platforms for the challengers, of course the pokemon master has the larger platform on the throne room side.

Well I think that is it for me. if any of you have any thoughts or inspiration, please do let me know. I have realized something in this endeavor. I am not the best at the large, grand structures, but I do like lots of detail and functionality. also, feel free to post pictures of what you have done!

    Thanks guys,

Sorry to reply again, but I just thought of something amusing, I dont know if it has crossed your mind. Your steve sculpture uses sand for a lot of it. I feel like it would be quite amusing if they fix the sand/gravel gravity bug. I would be amused to see the sand drop from arms and faces, but would be bummed if it got wrecked cuz it is toally cool. may want to change sand to sandstone...

posted a message on Will worlds we already have be able to be used in Survival?

probably not. either all worlds made before the update will be switched to creative mode or erased :steve_tearful:

I really do hope that the maps arent erased... because I have spent much work on my maps. I will be bummed, but not mad, if the current maps cant be used in survival, but then that would seem like cheating if we were (I have created a gigantic armory out of obsidian that is stocked with gratuitous amounts of diamond, gold, and iron... so I feel like it would make it too easy.
there would also be much more satisfaction having a cool map that you had to actually work towards, fending off creepers and such.
