I have a question! I'm on a Mac 10.6.8, and every time I try to load the MCEdit app, it appears for a few seconds in my start bar, and then disappears.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this / what I am doing wrong?
Edit: I should add that I tried the post above's suggestions, but I keep getting "No such file or directory exists" in Terminal.
Ok, so here's the dealio. I have the painterly texture pack. I want to change a few of the skins, mostly the dog ones, and switch them out with some of my own.
However, when I unzip the file, switch the .pngs and zip it back up again, the file does not work in Minecraft.
Any suggestions on how to do this successfully?
Also, I am on a Mac, so I can't use what appears to be the one skin switcher since it is made for PCs.
The .dat files you are looking for are contained in the file your downloaded, under the subfolder called .minecraft
This might be my problem. When I downloaded the file, there was only the CLASSFILES folder, a .txt file, and a "patch.properties.exe" file, which I am unable to open since I'm on a mac. I couldn't find a subfolder.
This looks really, really cool, but I'm having trouble installing it. Can anyone give me some advice? I'm on a mac, and I'm stuck on the second step of "Put the contents of the folder .minecraft into (Operating system Roaming folder)/.minecraft/"
First, I'm not sure what or where my .minecraft folder is, second, I can't find the .dat files. If someone could point out what I'm missing, I'd be really grateful, since it's probably blatantly obvious what I'm doing wrong.
Well, now thy work together, but there are glitches with the texture still. Does anyone know if there is a way to patch a skin and not immediately attached it to minecraft.jar?
You know, I never actually found out how to install texture packs the official way. Perhaps that's why I'm having problems? Would you explain it for me?
So, to start things off, I'm on a mac. I can either load a patched texture pack (Jadoku to be exact), or use modloader to load some mods I have, but I cannot do both at once. If I try to load minecraft through modloader once the texture mac is installed, it freezes up on me.
How do I add mods manually on a mac? Is there an easier / more idiot proof solution than that?
I look forward to cave mode. I caught the glimpse of diamonds as the squares loaded, but no way to find them. I wait with excitement for your next update.
EDIT:
Sooo, I've already found something crazy with my map. I really hope this is real.
So, my game has gone from bad to worse. It now freezes every couple minutes or less. What's even worse, is that if I've been mining, the parts that I've mined seem to have reappared, except I'm stuck in the same place. The end result of this? I'm pinned in place till my health runs out.
I've now lost two diamond picks, 64 blocks of iron and so many other resources. Also, sometimes when I'm building and the game freezes, when I come back the portions I've built are gone, but so are my resources!
Can anyone tell me what is going on here? I'm playing on a mac, just to be clear. Is there any way to tell if a file is corrupt?
I've been playing on SMP, and every now and again the game will freeze up and quit. It hasn't really been much of a problem till the last time, when I lost a lot of progress on a tunnel I was making. Is it doing this for anyone else? I'd like prevent this from happening again, in case I lose something valuable, like diamonds or something.

I really hope Notch implements this in some later update.

(Love the pack, by the way. The sun and moon are absolutely gorgeous.)
