posted a message on Current bandwidth/traffic usage per player?
    Hello everybody.

I have looked around but the numbers variate greatly in anything from 25KB/s to 1mbps(125KB/s), anyone got a more specific number for 1.6.6?

And how much bandwidth does your servers use with x number average players on?

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers

    Quote from lawngnome

I'll give it a try in a moment - I have to run out of the office for a bit.

Though, I seem to be able to connect to the 64-bit server now with the firewall disabled. I'm now trying to figure out why the firewall is only blocking the 64-bit java environment and the 32-bit works perfectly fine with the currently configured exception. If I need to add an additional port exception because of the 64-bit environment that won't be an issue.

Instead of running what I just suggested, try to do "java -version" in CMD. If it reports back java build something 64-bit then try this (the other one was based upon the server JVM):
    @echo off
    :start
    cls
    java -Xmx4096M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
    pause
    GOTO start

I'm not sure of the specifics. That's just the Batch file commands and settings listed in the instructions from Bukkit (HERE). I just used them directly as configured.

    Try this:
    @echo off
    :start
    cls
    java -server -Xmx4096M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -XX:+AggressiveOpts -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
    pause
    GOTO start

posted a message on Need advice switching Essentials GroupManager -> Permissions v.3
    Quote from Tarth

    Hey guys,

First off I am no coding master... I am just a guy who likes minecraft who is trying to host a server for me and my buddies. I am renting a bukkit server that I have access to via FTP. I have been using Essentials and Essentials GroupManager to set up my permissions and groups. However, we recently started messing around with the economy side of essentials and setup a nice trading post with the essentials "signs" and want to get a little more advanced economy going. Long story short... it seems Permissions v.3 is the best way to go in order to use pluggins like iConomy. So in order to switch over to Permissions v.3 most seamlessly, I assume I should download the Permissions v.3 pluggin... setup the groups and permissions as close to my GroupManager as possible within the Permissions pluggin, bring the server down, delete the EssentialsGroupBridge.jar, EssentailsGroupManager.jar and the GroupManager directory, and install Permissions pluggin and hope it works?

Sorry if this is a noobish questions... I just need confirmation that there is the best way to go about this. Thanks everyone!

    From what I know, yes.

    Quote from alex3942

It is quite simple actually. I just opened minecraft.jar went to enviroment and deleted clouds image.

Well it works for me =D

That does not turn them off, that makes them invisible.

    Hi
I'm just wondering how to turn off those annoying clouds
i've googled a bit and found out that i have to look in the minecraft.jar
    But i can't find the minecraft.jar

You can't just "turn them off". There is a workaround but is is more than most want to do.

Its a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 GPU

My guess then is your harddisk. By secondary harddisk I meant an internal one (mostly stationary computers) so I do not think that there is a big chance for the lag to disappear. My FPS goes down by approx. 75% when using Fraps and that is on a gamer-laptop.

My laptop is new and i dont know why its doing this :sleep.gif:

What GPU is in your machine? And "new" doesn't necessarily mean powerful.

Ok when i try and use fraps with minecraft i get tons of lag(Client side not server) and when it is off theres no lag.

Fraps is an extremely demanding program on both graphics and harddisk as it actually makes your GPU render each frame twice, one for screen and one for Fraps. Then it takes that extreme data (it's huge!) and put it down on your standard drive which takes nearly all write speed and therefore it lags. For a lag-free experience with Fraps:
Run Fraps on a secondary harddisk.
Run Minecraft on a second secondary harddisk.
Get a more powerful GPU (in this case, a new laptop).

    Alright :smile.gif:

If anyone here who owns a mac could explain to me step by step how to work this I will be very happy :biggrin.gif: Sorry haha, I'm not a genius with this kind of stuff :/

Don't got a mac but what about doing it from terminal by doing "python mcnostalgia.py". This should ask python to launch mcnostalgia.

    Quote from Em0srawk

These are 24/7 aren't they? And either the memory to player thing is greatly optimistic, or my current provider has been ripping me off... They recommend a 1024MB server for 8 people. Anyway, I'll most likely be switching to this soon - I miss my FTP access!
Edit: Oh, and it's about half the price! :biggrin.gif:

I don't got Brohoster but with my 192mb server, I can run several plugins (8+) and with 5 players online nearly no lag.
