My house is buried in a mountain. The only ground level entrance has a double iron door with buttons. The cliff entrance has an iron block piston door. I also have a double iron door on the entrance to my mine-shaft. Despite this, somehow I have been invaded twice by a skeleton. That is why I now have a completely safe storage room. Since added that, I have never had a problem with rouge mobs again.

I survived 31 days, by the way.

Robotics research is what I did back in school. Right now I'm just a regular software developer, mostly .NET and web applications. I prefer the kind of work I get to do with Futurecraft, though; it's much closer what I consider to be programming as an art form.

What Doc said is pretty much our general stance on the matter. We're always looking for new talent, but to that end word of mouth has served us pretty well so far. We don't need plugs or publicity right now, nor do we need the kind of fanbase that comes along with it. When the time comes, we'll start advertising, but not before.

    Well, I was close...

Um first off we don't want people to know and second we have like 6 realy good moders all ready working and last if you join the futurecraft forums I would not be telling you this

You, my good sir, do not tell potential customers what to do.

We have Danice and Keon, who are both still in school, but are good considering. We then have Fr0stbyte, who is a robotics engineer (if memory servers), and appears (at least on the outside) to be brilliant.

We do want people to know. Just the people that could help create a better Universe, not the "can i haz test plz" type people, they will come later.

And also Yognaut, I appreciate your support of the mod.

I'm surprised this has yet to reach the front page or at least gotten noticed on youtube like the aether mod did. Also maybe you should roam the forums and see if successful modders are willing to help you with the project, unless you feel that it's your brainchild and don't want external help, either way keep up the good work! :)

It's because we don't have that much to show.

Any chance of doing mining vessels? I mean Iv seen some pretty bad-ass ishimura remakes that I think will be perfect if there were mining type vessels

    Probably.

I am Keon, one of the Dev. Others just don't post. Ingame items are lowest priority. Fighters we might start work on sometime.

Yes, why is it that you have Ducky215 on here and Minecraft, but Keon on the Futurecraft Forums?

Will larger ships need multiple tractor beams or simply a bigger tractor beam?

I don't think that's something were really worrying about.

Maybe by taking the small gates into the ships like they do in the show? I mean really how do you think the gates were put in place to begin with?
The super gates though maybe have hauling ships? or make it into a ship itself? or do like in the show its a crapload of ships that come together like voltron to make the supergate? likely also using the stargates themselves to transport the ships over long distances?

I'm pretty sure Ft0stbyte was being sarcastic when he said: 32 whole tons, huh. I guess you're right; there's really no way to move anything that massive in a game like Minecraft
Because, I mean that ships are dozens or hundreds of times larger then that, and Minecraft has no physics (real physics) anyway. I'd be more worried about initializing the correlative update to the Gate system.

Do you guys have a wiki? I would love to read a compiled text of progress and future plans and such, this sounds cool :D
I would love to explore the interstellar void.

We don't have a wiki, maybe I should make one...

Currently, most of the progress is stuff non-programmers like you or me don't understand, but without which the game wouldn't work. No content that you can use yet.

For future plans, you can try the forums. Everybody has ideas about what kind of content the mod is going to have, I'm almost beyond listening to anyone else though. I often change the plans for the mod based on what I think is fun, or what the other DEVs think is fun. Or practical. Can't forget practical.

Oh dont worry about it, I just figured it will give a few extra ores a few extra bits and bobs, the macerater would be useful for doubling ores though, and well build-craft would make it easyer to craft ships perfectly the same over and over so you have fleets of ships that match perfectly Err well I suppose add something similar of you can

We will have a shipyard system that will allow you to build and save your ships (in a schematic file) in a holographic creative/World Edit style of build. You will then give the shipyard the materials it needs fro the ship, and it will assemble it for you. This way, you don't waste tool uses and time building conventially, and it allows you to download other peoples ship designs, as well as upload your own.

    Pretty neat, huh?

The more complex the mod, the less likely it will be compatible with Futurecraft, and Industrialcraft is a very complicated mod. I won't say no for certain at this point, but don't start making plans to use it. Still, if we can't include it, we'll have some alternative to fill that niche.

Plus our power system and theirs wouldn't make sense together.

But anyway, isn't Futurecraft going to played as an independent game to Minecraft, meaning that you can have Vanilla (or modded) Minecraft and Futurecraft running simultaneously?

Won't need to be. Futurecraft will be run as a separate game, like the Technic Mod Pack, or Spout.

Most of the existing Minecraft content will remain unchanged, as will the way you play the non-Futurecraft aspects of the game. It's only the engine that's getting the aggressive overhaul and it needed it anyway.

Really? Seems to me we are changing the recipes for half of the blocks/items so that they make sense with the mod, and the texture-pack. I think there will be some change-over point between the original content and the science fiction one, probably the creation of the 4x4 crafting station.

Do you think you should release the engine separately, perhaps even give it to the people at Mojang, to improve the Minecraft playing experience for all?

Also is this something that an admin downloads for the server and everyone gets it or does everyone need to download the mod. Another thing, can people with the mod join regular servers.

It will have a "viral" download system, making it very easy to install, and allowing it to be spread both quickly, and efficiently. (If you need me to explain, ask.)

Futurecraft will be run separately to Minecraft, you could even have both running at the same time.

I reiterated the story for an English assessment. I probably could still write it from memory, but I really can't be bothered.

    Have a read:

You have had an interesting day in the mines. You have worked hard, and helped to find a seam of iron. In amongst this iron, you found a strange new material, which you name crocite. A fellow miner had taken the crocite to the village counsel, and they shall decide what to do with it over the next few days.

These are the thoughts that are racing though your mind as you walk back to your house on the outskirts of Midendel, your home village. You have always admired your house, as it had been built on the ruins of a much older structure, built by people who lived, worked, and died in a similar fashion to how you and your people do today. The house is three storeys high, a rare luxury amongst the generally poor miner community. As you open the front gate, your wot-tan, Choc-sek, comes rushing to greet you. You give him the remains of your lunch, a solid piece of meat, and go inside.

After dinner, you retire to your bed. After all your work today, you fall asleep quickly, only to find that you are tormented with horrible nightmares. Before you, the sky flashes red, and the great Forest of Kur-urka burns to ashes. All that is left of your village, your home, your life is ash, floating through a thick grey cloud of dust.

You awaken to the sound of an explosion and you shoot bolt-upright with a start. You think that it was just a remnant of your dream, but as you close your eyes, another explosion sounds.

You notice this time that before the explosion, there was a bright flash of yellow light which streamed in through your open window. You hear a scream far off in the distance, and then it stops suddenly. You believe yourself to still be dreaming, so you find your face contorted with the concentrated effort of waking up. But as another explosion sounds, you think to yourself: “No luck. This is real.”

You panic. You know that you must get yourself out of here, away from the explosions, but go where? As you run out of the house, grabbing your sword and a torch on the way, the answer comes to you; to take shelter in the caverns.

Your ancestors had discovered the caverns hundreds of years ago. They had become a place of refuge in times of need, like a few cycles back, when the valley had flooded and much of the forest and the village were under water.

As you run, many more flashes and the ensuing explosions occur. Then, as you’re only a kilometre or so away from the caves, at the base of the mountain where they are, the explosions stop. The night is eerily silent. No og-wols, no wog-ots (which are common this time of year), no sign of grug-nats or pok-rigs. It appears that every creature had just vanished. Even the hunting call of a pack of wok-tons would have been a comfort, but alas, there was nothing.

As you stood, just waiting, waiting for a sign, waiting for a sound, you noticed a low, droning hum. It hadn’t been there before, of that you were sure, and you find yourself wondering what it is. As you continue to stand, glued to the spot, you realise that whatever it is, it is certainly getting closer, as you can now feel the vibrations on your skull.

The noise continues to get louder, until it reaches a point in which the trees threaten to uproot themselves because they are shaking so much. It is at this all dominating level of sound that the humming stops. You look around you, suddenly afraid now that the humming had been silenced. You see nothing around you as you wave your torch from side to side, but then you look up.

Above you, a thing of incredible size, awe inspiring in the full meaning of the word, is a creature, covered in strange grey materials. You see lights shining brightly down on the forest around you, and you hear animals (which had finally decided to show themselves as the sound grew closer) scatter around you as they try to avoid its terrifying gaze. As one of lights adjusts it position, and tilts towards you, you follow the lead of the animals, and run. True terror seizes your body as you see your shadow below you, illuminated by a light that seemed to tear through your body, and peer straight into your soul. You turn to face the source of the light, and hold your sword up in defiance of this strange creature that fills the sky.

A ball of fire erupts from the creature, and you think, in a moment of irrational thought, perhaps it is dying. You feel a slight tinge of compassion for it, than you remember an elder telling you about strange flying creatures, that shoot fire balls like this, and you realise that the creature is trying to kill you. The ball hits the trees behind you and explodes. A shockwave follows, flattening the trees near it and you realise this is the sound you heard before. The shockwave hits you. The light fades. The world around you turns to grey. You realise that you’re dying. Dying.

You’d had been thrown forward into a fallen log, and you could tell that your bones were broken and your skin torn, your life fading, quickly. It would be over soon. Death.

The next day, you find yourself remembering a dream from the previous night. You remember being on a primitive planet, around primitive people. You knew that if the Admiral found out that his Second-in-Command was having dreams of defeat, you would surely be punished. After all, there can be no signs of weakness in the great Kulkon Empire!

As you board your regular naval transport vessel, on the way to Dock One, you receive a communiqué from the Admiral:
“You and your crew, along with the mining ship Corgek, will be travelling to a planet in the Ser-conic sector. A rich vein of Nedrodium was discovered there several standard days ago by one of our scout ships. You will be escorting the Corgek in case of Zeeq attack. If the local inhabitants provide trouble, exterminate them.”

No weakness, no mercy. The Empire must triumph over all others.
These are your final thoughts as your transport pulls into the boarding tunnel. Departure.
