I made a video tutorial showing how to install this mod because I see a lot of people don't know how to install JAR mods.

Great concept! I wish I found this mod earlier. I've also been working on something similar, but for Beta 1.7.3 for the past few months.

    Very Nice!

    Thank you!

Version 0.4.0 was released yesterday, it adds mangrove trees, rainforests, stone circles, new dungeons, and multiple new building blocks, among other things.

BetterCraft is a mod for MineCraft Beta 1.7.3 that adds many new blocks, items, and animals to make the game more interesting.

    Version 0.5 just released! (12/30/2021)

    Multiplayer compatible!

This mod required ModLoader, ModLoaderMP, and Minecraft Forge 1.0.6!

"Why is it for 1.7.3? That version is almost 11 years old!"

Beta 1.7.3 is the last version of MineCraft that doesn't have sprinting, hunger, experience, or potions.
Those features make the game less fun and noticeably easier.

While many of the later updates had some good additions such as the ability to place slabs and stairs upside-down, the damage has already been done, and playing Minecraft b1.8+ feels different than playing the older versions.

If you would like to see a feature from modern Minecraft back-ported and implemented into this mod, post it in the comments, and if I like it, I might implement it into the main branch of this mod.

I also plan on writing an "expansion pack" for this mod that would add sprinting and faster tools for those who prefer a more fast-paced game play style.

This mod is available under the MIT license, this means you can have it on your server, upload it to other sites,
use it in a modpack, or even sell it (although I doubt anybody would want to pay for it), as long as you credit me.

I encourage you to license your mods under permissive licenses as well.

I don't think Forge or other modloaders existed back then:

    Risugami's ModLoader did exist.
