The option SadCrow mentioned is a mod with a completely new world-generation system to create higher worlds but it's still very much in development, especially the version that includes parts of PTM. It still has some way to go before I would recommend it as a replacement to your normal minecraft world just as a solution for cut-off trees.

The other solution is to edit the source code and add a height abort check to the generator. It should be relatively easy to do if you have the know-how. Maybe ask one of the fork developers?

I guess I picked the worst possible time to stumble across this mod...

Anyway, I've been searching for any in-date tutorial for how to install this, anyone have one/know one?

There is a readme in the zip that might be a bit out of date but still quite helpful. And others are picking up the pieces of this mod so I really doubt it will die.

    Hello ALL!

THANK YOU R-T-B!! THANK YOU BTM originator bucyruss!!
You guys are amazing!! LOTS OF LOVE YOUR WAY, FROM ME!

My name is Kinnikinnick (kin 4 short) and I'm helping with the cubic chunks mod. I'm continuing BiomeTerrain/PTM integrated with Cubic Chunks (by Robinton). I have added configurable terrain generation height increases (up to y2048). Check it out here.

Nice. I'm adding it to the OP post. :smile.gif:

I knew the community would pick this up, it's too good to abandon. :smile.gif: You may want to get in touch with Ohmusuma (sp?) regarding the BOB system, he has the specs and knows about the incomplete parts.

Dang. Sorry bout your troubles. So, does this mean that the PhoenixTerrainMod won't be updated anymore? (Like the BiomeTerrainMod)

1.8 will be hard. My team is attempting to pick up the slack (Khorn in particular) but it won't be the same, that's for darn sure.

You can look up Khorn's Bukkit Plugin in the OP thread.

    I see, thx for everything!

btw, just wondering what does the gs.class for vanilla server modified? cuz I have a mod use that class file, too. And no matter which one I use, the server runs just fine. So I am deciding which class file should I use.

I can't say what the obfuscated class does off the top of my head, but if it's BlockSapling the mod would run fine until a sapling grows. Then it might slow down a bit and fail to grow but otherwise keep chugging along.

Anyhow, please redownload. That workaround has been put in. I'd do more but I understandably am stretched a bit thin now.

so after testing a few worlds with the latest final version, I decided to go back to r16b2.

the latest one seems to be more problematic than the previous one.

BOB trees still not spawn on biome, and trees on trees, BOB trees floating on water...etc.

But anyways, thx for the great effort! RTB

If you are using BOBv2's that should not be an issue. But a quick look at the source code shows there is potential for that. If anyone wants to fix this, it's in the commented out code in CustomObjectGen in the source directory. Basically the ground check is not working at the moment. I changed it to grass only and will be doing a quick reupload as a workaround, but that's it.

Also, I have recieved word that Khorn is working on a Bukkit version as a plugin. Please keep an eye on his work!

Hello everyone. I am uploading the new release now. It has some bugfixes, but unfortunately most of them had to be rolled back due to crashing issues.

Either way, it includes source and the BOB repository. Stand by, will only be a few minutes more while I setup a megaupload.

I hope everything works out for you RTB.

Any chance the website will come back up (trying to access files on it) or is it going to go down permanently? If it is going to go down I'll be losing some files :sad.gif:

The site is down permenantly, but the BOB archive will live on as it will be released as a zip archive in just a few minutes with next (final) release.

If this is the last release any chance we can get the installation instructions added to the readme for this one? A simple copy paste of what was on the site would save a lot of headaches. I can see not wanting have to update the readme every time something changes, but I mean if this is it.. Just wanted to put that suggestion out there.

Regardless you spent your time making ours more enjoyable, and for that I thank you. I wish you the best, as I'm sure do we all.

Good idea. I'll write up a good readme for the finale.

Hopefully, we will be seeing the one last release today.

You will be. I'm not sure how many bugs are fixed though, it's still a bit iffy but it'll have the source.

    Hello everyone.

I have the complete BOB repoisitory and source code in hand. I also have a new release with some bugfixes. Should be up tomorrow or the next day. This final 'release' will contain the code, binary jars, and complete BOB repository. Sorry I can't do more, it's most unfortunate.

thanks everyone for the wonderful support and kind words.

    Hello everyone.

I have bad news. We had a death in my family. I was on a trip attending the funeral. (It must be said, this is not my father, it was my grandmother and was very unexpected. More on my father below).

During the funeral, my friend decided to try to rebuild the linux distro on the server and hosed it by formatting a new file system (ext4) over my old one (JFS). I don't know why he did this, but it's ok as I know at least some people have checked out the source code and the wiki and site have backups.

The bad news is I've come to a sort of revelation in my life with my grandmothers funeral. I don't really have time for this mod in the moment. That's not to say I will never pick it up again, but I have to put it on hiatus for now. As such, I'm officially "deprecating" PTM.

There will be one more release this week which is a consolidation of all current bugfixes, and it will include source code for people to fork. I won't be restoring the website but I will keep this thread for resurrections and interesting projects. If anyone is interested in taking this over please contact me. There is no way with the amount of time I have now I could make a 1.8 release anyways.

I'm very sorry for this, I really wanted to see this through but my life is turned upside down right now. Thanks folks, it's been a hell of a ride.

looking forward to the upcoming latest release !

Me too. Unfortunately there are some new bugs that need fixing (worst kind too, hard to track down random crashes in SSP and possibly others), so it looks like it'll be until the end of the week. Plus my father is taking a lot of the time lately.

As for the website: It isn't having trouble, my friend is just being lazy with the setup (no offense dude, I know it's your spare time). He tells me it will be online sometime tomorrow. There are no software/hardware issues that I am aware of, and the site will be much faster when it comes back.

The links to the wiki don't work in either of my browsers.

Website is down for some very temporary mantanence (basically, it is being moved to a very generous friends house with much better internet than me).

It'll be back tomorrow with the next release. It's pretty much done I just want to bugtest the hell out of it.
