posted a message on Reddit's Take regarding Iron Farms (post jeb)
They could nerf the farm and make them only work if you actually kill the mob to get the drop. Like when you kill blaze with snow ball in a blaze farm you get rod. But I would suggest that they do the following change :

I always thought off that is dumb is that fortune enchant work on Coal, Red stone, Lapi Lazuli, Diamond, Emerald and Quartz. Yet iron is on of the primary material and one of the most useful and the enchant doesn't work on it. Why they don't had two item like ''Unrefined Iron Ore'' and ''Unrefined Gold Ore'' that could also be affected by the fortune enchantment and would serve as a medium in between mining and smelting. That would most likely balance the heavy iron usage required in end game content and since people at the beginning don't have access to fortune enchantment new player wouldn't be overpowered.

I kind of agree that iron is not available in large enough quantity for larger end-game project. Sure you can always mine like crazy for 20 hour in a row to get 2 full chest of iron block but not all people want to do this and have time to do this. I also believe that farm shouldn't be 100% nerfed because it's up to everyone to play the way they want. I'm kind of okay that they fix the Golem and Pigman issue if they still drop their item when you kill them like they should, after all I bet that not less than a week after the 1.8 release someone will find how to make a farm that will work with the fix. But I would also like that they offer other way to get more iron in end game. I don't believe they should lower iron usage in all receipt because most of these receipt are end-game content that shouldn't be easily available to starting player. Offering something to balance like fortune or something else that you would unlock later in the game to get more iron out of your mining at a certain cost would balance the game really well.

posted a message on New Items For 13w44a?
At least they added the sapling, that was the only thing I really hoped they would add before releasing the official 1.7 update. Now I can wait for the update in peace.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they added new plank though.

posted a message on Super Secret Settings = SHADERS coming to Minecraft?
Now talk about something great. I once tried the Sonic Ether shaders mod and it was really awesome but back in the day it was a little buggy. Now I've seen some youtuber use it and it is much better than before. I do plan to try it again with 1.7 update but if it's already built in the game that would be even better!

Now does that mean that they will add some shader like Sonic Ether's unbelievable shaders mod and that you will be able to toggle them on and off or it's only a few random not so useful shader that they added for fun? I would really love that the game have shaders like the mod.

posted a message on More bush and regrowing grass
Wouldn't it be awesome if tall re-growed by itself overtime but with a certain rule to prevent the ground from being 100% covered ? In real life grass always grow. In Minecraft after doing a lot of landscaping I find it boring that there is no more grass and with some of the larger project going on it's just crazy the amount of bone meal and time that would be required to bring back all that tall grass.

I know that for some people it potentially could be an issue, if that is really the case I suggest to had a scythe type tool that would probably cut 3x3 or more grass area just to mow the grass faster.

The second thing that I would find awesome would be to have some kind of bush, they could be coming from tree where a tree would be 1 wood block tall and have less foliage spawn or could completely be a new plant type. Maybe even have some moss that could grow on the bottom of tree and rock. Also brown mushroom should have a small percentage to grow on the bottom of tree too but only oak and spruce because that is mostly where they are usually found.

All these could help make the forest nicer too look at and could be some really easy tweak made for the 1.7 Biomes update.

    posted a message on Pandas!
    I love the panda idea.

They could even make a Bear mob then just change the skin for black bear, grizzly, panda and polar bear. Now you could have all these bear in the different biome depending where they are located.

    posted a message on Speakers
    Quote from PurelyRandom

I haven't finalized a crafting recipe, but my first idea is 3 leather on top, 1 redstone in the middle, and iron ingots everywhere else.

Basically speakers can be connected to a jukebox via redstone, and it would copy the song (from whatever music disc is currently playing) and play that same song from wherever the Speaker is located, simultaneously.

    Suggestions or questions? Feedback?

Not a bad idea but I unfortunatly see why would a lot of people use that. I never use jukebox anyway.

Redstone caries current, not music signals.

    Music signal is current.

posted a message on Any Word on increased Draw Distance?
If they increase the render distance I hope the engine rewrite will be greath because doubling the render distance mean 4 time more chunk to load and so on. It will take a massive computer to keep up with that much stuff to render. I've once tryed a mod that increased it to 512 bloc I think and my computer is not so bad and achieve really good FPS but with 512 blocks render distance it was struggling.

    Quote from weterman

I like this idea. And How about you can store items in your crafting table, too?

It could also have a little inventory in it, maybe half a chest or a single chest equivalent. Just enough to not make it over-powered.

Also if someday more complicated crafting receipt are added it could be used to craft them.

posted a message on Advanced crafting table
Some of you may have seen this table in Feed the Beast. I don't know from which mod it exactly come from but I think it would be a great addition to Minecraft.

When you build something out of this advanced crafting table it allow you to build as many item you can using the supply you have in you inventory. No more wasted time dividing those stick to build fence. Or dividing those plank to make stair. Just throw in the correct shape and click as much as you want until you ran out of supply or until you have enough of it.

Another cool function it could have is to save those plan in a practical interface like the one on Xbox 360. So once the item as been crafted once it's kind of saved for further use with a cool interface.

Another cool feature it could have is to remember the last item you crafted. So when you're building a large project and you ran out often of some crafted block but don't want to craft 10 of 20 stack of it to not waste material you can come back and just click a few more time if you have the supply on you to grab the amount you need. The last item crafted would be saved as a ghost item arrangement. So you wouldn't have to remove them to build something else. Just putting a new item or selecting another plan would clear it.

I think this could be a great addition to the game for those people who craft large stuff in survival mode. Yet it would not be overpowered. It's not a big thing but I do thing that it's small change like this that make the game more enjoyable.

And for the receipt it should be a little bit more expensive. Maybe 6 plank like a trapdoor shape with a layer of 3 iron ingot over it for the top.

posted a message on Dat memory!
I allocated 8Gb of memory to my minecraft and it actually run at around 800-1200 Mb most of the time. But when near a blaze farm or when detonating alot of TNT, like 4000+, I've seen it eat as much as 4Gb of ram. I bet it take a lot of resource to render many entities at the same time and keeping the frame rate decent.

posted a message on Farming Overhaul
I've never use bone meal to grow my weath. I alway considered it rare and used it only for other stuff loll. I tend to make really large weat farm so I can have enough weath for all my animal. Also the first few day I mostly fish to get food or eat apple from the tree I take down.

But I agree that the bonemeal nerf is kind of extreme. They should have made it a bit like fortune enchant work. You alway gros weath at least 1 stage, but you have a chance that It grow two stage, or less chance that it grow three stage, etc...

They should allow us to use dispenser or dropper to plan seed, to feed animal and why not even shop down tree, or mine stone using a pick axe or and axe in the dispenser. (Would help to make auto tree farm, or self-mining cobblestone generator).

posted a message on Just as I have feared
I have about the same computer as you. i7 2600k oc to 4 ghz, 16 Go of Ram and a GTX 560 Ti (Will upgrade to 760 or 770 when they get out) And I can use 256 or 512 texture pack and I have over 200-300 fps all the time doing so. I allocated 8Gb of ram to minecraft, you could try that, maybe not as much since it's overkill but I will never run out of memory. The most the game actually ever used it's 4Gb of ram when I tryed dotonating 8000 TNT lol

posted a message on Mojang said they didn't want to add pipes, yet hoppers/droppers function as pipes?
Honestly I don't care if they don't add pipe. I already plan to use minecart for long distance and water pipe (Water on ice) + Item elevator for short distance. It will make automatic farming and such thing more complicated than what it would be with pipe but I will be proud of what I will build. And it will fit minecraft a little bit better.
