......

update, never mind, idk what was wrong but its working now after about 50 re installing the mod lol
umm just 1 more question. this video showed 2 more portals and has link to this mod sooooo kinda wondering if these are available. i tried them and they did not work. any idea what this is about? like is this for a different mod or something?

I originally made this mod immediately after the sky dimension came out, but college and other issues stopped me from being able to update it. When I returned I didn't have the source code so I made it from scratch. The other two portals I haven't added because they were just random ideas to add and they caused servers to deal with twice as many worlds.

I backed up minecraft then installed the mod. And I got a black screen! This mod is not a good mod

I'm going to copy paste my questions to the other people who haven't put enough information in their bug reports.

What other mods do you have installed?
What version of Forge are you running?

Also, post the bug report and anything else that happened.

Hi! Love this mod with being able to customize the portal frames and all that. I did an Installation + Review (Mac) for it, hoping you could have a look at it. Thanks!

Great job!
And the overworld portal will just not go anywhere when you're in the overworld.
It won't bug out.... I hope, XD

Hey Facade, I commented on your post @ Technic Forums, but you didn't reply, so now I'm annoying you here too. :D
Anyway, Sky Dimension conflicts with Twilight Forest. I'm aware you can edit the config to change the dimension ID, but that must be in a later version, because that option isn't in the config for the 1.2.5 version you posted on the Technic Forums.
Do you know of any way I can fix this?

I'm going to update the 1.2.5 version with some basic config options.
They'll be in the config file like in version 6.

I've made the portal frames and installed it correctly, but when I make an obsidian portal it crashes when I use the flint and steel saying:

Few questions: Are you using the Server or Client mod zip?
What other mods do you have installed?
What version of Forge are you running?

I saw a video of this that also allowed access to a flat land and a dark skyland.
Where did that go? D:

That was from a year ago. The mod went into a coma for a while and I restarted it. But currently it is near impossible to create the different types of portal required for two more dimensions. The meta data cannot hold it easily. It's possible, but I'm going to wait until I can find an efficient way to do it.

My only complaint is that this screws with servers that don't have this mod installed. When in the Nether, the portal blocks don't render properly and entering the portal's a bit screwy. Purely aesthetic, but a bit ugly. Otherwise, great mod!

This is now updated so that the original portal will act like they should. However you will not be able to create them anymore.
Which should stop weird issues with old portals and servers.

Please change the dimension ID for the sky, it doesn't work with twilight forest.. :Bacon:

You can now change the dimension ID in the config folder in your .minecraft directory. Just open the mod_Portals.cfg in notepad and change the dimension ID to a different value.

when i use flint on the stone to make sky portal it just catches on fire. :Notch:

Can you post an image of your frame?
There are unusual issues when creating a portal, if you show how you're creating I can normally help.
Or you could try out various ways to create a portal. The best way is to create a frame floating in the air and start adding blocks around it to see what stops you from being able to create it.

Make it colorable please :D
I want a rainbow-portal to hell^^

That sounds fun, but I'm not that skilled... sorry.
Later on after I clear out most of the issues, I'll try to make the coloration user defined, but it may take a while.

Fun stuff: Update is out! It will cause your portals to be a bit weird, but it will stop the old portals from being horribly broken.
Also added in the ability to change your sky dimension id, and possibly other things, but I don't remember.
EDIT: The mod is now active on the tekkit forums! Possibly could get it into the Tekkit pack, which would be awesome. Link is here

it was not in a server, it was in singleplayer

If you are using minecraft 1.2.5, I'll check the old code and see if I can find the error.
If you are using the SMP zip, then that's the issue, it was made to be used on dedicated servers, and as such does not have the textures, and the issue is coming from that. Download the SSP zip and remove the SMP zip. The SSP zip is made for clients, and will connect to forge servers with this mod installed.
If you are using the SSP zip, then update your forge to the next recommended version. I'm using #226 and it's working.
If none of these helped, then post what mods you are using, what forge version you are using, and any other information you think will be helpful in recreating the bug. If I can recreate it, then I will be able to search for it's root cause.

I apologize if this didn't help, I'm not so good with conversations, as you probably have noticed.

and when entering the world with portal I get same error

I believe I made a mistake with the description of the files.
SMP is for the server, and SSP is for the client.
I'll fix them on v1.6 so that it makes less problems.
(For some reason server's don't like my portal textures.)

To fix this, just download the SSP zip and replace the SMP zip with it.

will it work with modloder ?

I believe Forge works with Modloader. If you check out minecraftforge.net, it should say if it's compatible.

i can't see portal in-game...im using latest forge #225

Some questions:
Is this a new portal?
Old portals will have to be restarted, so just break it by placing a block next to it.
If it is a new portal,
does it work correctly? As in can you teleport to the nether or sky?
is there really a portal there? If it doesn't work correctly, then it probably wasn't initialized correctly.

If it is a new portal, how did you initialize it?
Did you use flint and steel in the corner?
What shape was it?

EDIT: Also, what mods do you have installed?

There are more questions but these should cover most of the info I need.
I just downloaded forge #226 and tested creating all the portals and it appeared to work.

INTERNETS!!! I love them a lot.

Here comes a big dump. I have a 1.3.2 version using forge, it should work with lan, but be cautious and report any problems you have.
I will leave v1.3 download up until the I update the mod again.

Have fun!

Quick note: This is from my phone (android smartphone), don't expect great penmanship.

Now for the meat.
I recently moved into a new apartment for college and it's internet is screwed up somehow.
I have been doing a little work on the mod, but my phone's internet is not powerful enough to handle uploading it.
I have successfully removed all modifications to the source code, which should boost compatibility.
I probably will soon work on porting it to multiplayer, but I'm still stuck with 1.2.5 for now.
Also, I won't be able to update it for 1.3 until Forge is updated, which may take a while.
Hopefully I will have internet back before then.

TL;DR
Can't update it until Forge is updated, and my internet hates me.
That is all, goodnight.

I've been working on the mod, removing all the changes to the source code so that it should be compatible with almost all mods.
And I've ran into a few issues that will take me a while to sort out, so don't expect an update soon.

For those that would like a SMP version, I'm going to wait until 1.3 is released.

I should have everything ported within a week after Forge is updated.

Great mod! Saw some videos on it, and really want to try it out myself. I am trying to get either 1.0 or 1.1 version to work with no luck. All I get is a black screen. For the 1.0 version I tried modLoader, and for the 1.1 version I tried Forge. This is against Minecraft 1.2.5. If I remove the Forge.zip file from the mods folder minecraft will launch successfully. I started with a fresh 1.2.5 .jar file for all testing / installation. Windows 7 x64. Java 7 update 5 64 bit.

Since this mod is changing the existing portals, it has to modify the minecraft source.
And to do that you have to extract the files from the zip and put them into the jar.
I do not know if there is a way to not change the source, but I doubt it.
I'll update the original post and add in a more descriptive install tutorial.

Side note:
You probably should encase any log files in spoiler tags.
ex:
text goes here
If you remove the spaces it will create this:
text goes here
Moved the mod to minecraft forge because it was more useful than risugami's.
Fixed a few issues using forge, haven't checked the compatibility with myst yet, but will soon.

I have discovered that this is incompatible with Forge and Mystcraft.
I am sad.

I'll do some research about Minecraft Forge, and I'll see if I can either port it over without many problems, or find a way to make it compatible.

I'll also do some checking into Mystcraft and check to see if there are any incompatibilities, or if it just Forge.

A v1.1 should be up by the end of the week.

Side Note: If anyone has any suggestions for things to add, please say. Another dimension would be interesting, but 4 is the upper limit right now. Any other ideas will probably be included, as long as they aren't crazy.
