1 good fleshed out idea is far better than a list of 1000 one sentence ideas. This not only breaks the forum rules but everything has already been suggested 100 times.
I don't like it. Im okay with minecraft gettung slightly modern but in time with great expense. Going from pickaxe to PDC is ridiculous. Make it better and mabye ill like.
Why does everyone quote my post mentioning realism. I know the game isn't realistic. However some things are. There should definetly be a realism slider. On one end forests would grow and caves in would be plausible. On the onther you would have creative mode. The middle would be the normal game.
I know some don't want realism.
My question: why are you posting here?
1 thing minecraft is lacking is realism. Better forests, more animals and weather will fix that.
Since when was minecraft meant to be realistic? Look around, it isn't much so. If you want better forests, there WERE a list of mods given here. If those aren't good enough, hea dover to the mapping and Modding section and ask somebody to make you a mod.
He wishes for these to be in the game, not through a mod. If everyone relied on mods, Notch could just release the game now, couldn't he?

This has been suggested before mutiple times. Please try to be original. I do think its a good idea though. You need to make the OP more detailed with actually ideas not a concept. A way it could work is salt water being normal and fresh water flowing farther. Also a way to get salt, but thats another topic. Anyway thats my 2 cents.
Bushes are meant to be an obstacle. Forests would eventually get thicker. This makes you put in paths or roads. Notch has talked about a realism slider, this is on the realistic end.

Bushes I think are going to represent too much of a terrain obstacle.
However I do think that if you cut down a tree (or one burns or whatever) any saplings that fall to the ground but are not looted after an appropriate interval should attempt to plant themselves.
