Not too bad. Gold weapons are here to stay, so don't diss them. But these aren't too bad either...

I only like the gold trimmed paintings. That would be pretty cool if you had a fair bit of gold lying around.

do you think that gold paintings should be larger then normal ones then? since they require a decent amount of gold.

gold the material that looks nice. this thread does not support golden tools or making gold do ridiculous things. this thread is to purely have more AESTHETIC uses for gold. I would love to here ideas from people so leave comments and ideas.

    item 1: gold trimmed paintings
    crafted like so
    :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:
    :GoldBar: :Frame: :GoldBar:
    :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

gold trimmed paintings would have very fancy and detailed drawings that look way better then standard ones. they would also be tend to be a bit bigger. the frame would be the color of gold.

    item 2: gold trimmed wool
    crafted like so
    [] :GoldBar: []
    :GoldBar: :White: :GoldBar:
    [] :GoldBar: []

gold trimmed wool would have to be dyed after this due to dec and hex stuff. looks like regular wool except with gold timmed going in 2 or 3 pixels on each side. this can make some very nice carpets.

item 3: gold timmed blocks (running out of ideas)
works like wool except with other blocks

idea 4: gold designs (inspired by redstone)
    crafted like so
    :GoldBar: [] :GoldBar:
    [] :GoldBar: []
    :GoldBar: [] :GoldBar:

it can be placed on any open side of a block creating a design when placed (like redstone). this can be used on trimmed blocks too.

please leave thoughts and ideas, because i am running out of ideas

Right now the bedrock is there because of technical limitations but what if the holes in the bedrock acted as portals that teleported you to a cave system deep underground? Then you could use many of the wonderful cave threads suggestions.

The limit for the 64 block height is because each chunk is highly dependent on knowing what the top block is.Minecraft CANNOT be made infinitely deep using the same system that makes the world infinitely wide, when someone attempts to stack chunks on top of each other it generates lighting problems. If a player were to dig straight down, sunlight wouldn't pierce past the first chunk.

the first thing you said is just another realm in the sense that get a portal, go through it, go to a place thats not the overworld.

What can i use it for besides tools/weapons/armor..cause it just degrades WAY to quick.

Because gold in real life is weak as hell. You can bend it with your teeth.

and steve can break logs with his fists, so the two aren't going to match up

gold is just to show off how successful you are at mining.

Repeating patterns and perhaps the golden ratio as applied to architecture. My buildings are designed more for function than aesthetics (so I can't really boast about them), but I'm sure some of them still have such qualities. At least I find them nice enough looking.

Don't forget that some architectural touches that look neat visually can also be functional. Overhangs or ladders used as trim accents can keep spiders out. Crenelations on low areas of buildings or walls can provide cover allowing you to dodge skeleton arrows. (And with stone or cobble, they also give that neat medieval castle look.) And torches are always a nice accent, in addition to helping prevent hostile mob spawns.

yes the golden ratio is one thing that can be done to make things look nice but nobody does it.

anyway, try to mix in cobblestone with other materials such as wood, glass, and wool since CS only looks good on large structures (in my opinion)

]maps are 4,000,000,000 blocks by 4,000,000,000 blocks (or is it chunks?) anyway thats a lot of fricken blocks to cover and i highly doubt your going to go 4 billion blocks out wards so stop complaining. also maps are infinite it's just if you go to far out it starts to overwrite saved chunks. furthermore the farther out you go the weirder physics get and strange formations will appear.

and these blocks are NOT, i repeat NOT all generated at the beginning of the game. It MAKES IT UP as you go, so the more you explore, the larger the world gets.

so? it's still infinite. also if they were all generated at the beginning of a world it would take up all the available memory before it stopped loading.

think about what you say because maps are still infinite

posted a message on It bothers me that destroying stone blocks gives cobblestone
step 1: plant lots of trees

    step 2: harvest

step 3: make lots of charcoal

    step 4: stop complaining

    problems:
physics: the physics would be incredibly buggy since there isn't anything to seperate the two sides

memory: it will take twice the amount of memory to do this and to explore on the other side

what this suggestion really is, just down to bare bones, a realm suggestion.

posted a message on New gamemode Idea: Mobwars UPDATE: BANNER PNG
i like this idea but i see a few problems...

    1) if the teams are small the mobs might have some troubles killing all the miners since they would have to be spread far and wide

    2) spawning as creeper should not happen unless 10 or more people are playing (or just not happen at all) since out maneuvering creepers is easy and people will most likely detonate them at a distance causing very little physical damage

    3) their should always be more mobs then miners. this is because if it's 10 on 10 all the miners need to do is split them up and take them out individually, and with broken formations due to death they won't be able to effectively kill the miners.

    4) i think miners should be given more then one minute while having the mobs as passive mob's that can roam around there base freely and can be killed along with npc's they will respawn as another animal once killed to

]have you tried making some areas using phi? it would be very pleasing to the eye and be unique since hardly anyone takes in the idea of phi. (i'm starting to use it myself)

Hmmm, what is phi? I've never heard of it before, but it sounds fairly interesting.

phi, A.K.A.the golden rule, is supposedly the most beautiful number in the world, which is 1.618 this number is used as a ratio like 1:1.618 (one being the number blocks in this case) multiply by 1.618 gives the ideal rectangle. it also has been proven by science to be the most pleasing rectangle ration.
