    Quote from Arkisys

Yeah, griefing is greifing Notch can't help you, and they take one about one day to grow up. That's pretty fair to me.

While there is grief potential for literally everything, this is kind of throwing the door wide open here...

You do realize how much we rely on those mobs, right?

If they get all killed off, no food, no beds, and no arrows.

It should at least be tweaked...

Adding stuff which changes game mechanics but isn't required is the general way of doing things when upgrading a game. You then have the argument of "dont like it? don't use it.", which gets us some more neat stuff added, since it is really doing harm to nobody.

Making a new feature required is bad, BAD, BAD FORM. I use a bed when I am in the middle of doing a project that requires daylight. Having to climb out of my cave, which is so large that I get lost constantly, to sleep to prevent death is an idea that I would not welcome at any time at all.

    Sorry.

    Get over it. ಠ_ಠ

Hey, guess what? It is a legitimate concern. Shut up.

You need animals not just for food, but for armor, beds, and most importantly, arrows. Now tell me sir, would you like to be stuck up a lava creek in a cave without a paddle with baddies closing in, and have an empty quiver?

    Thought not.

The breeding system needs to be quicker, and produce more animals.

If this does happen this way I would suggest having stuff like eggs found in chests. Said eggs are GUARANTEED to produce a chicken. You would find two of em in every chest.

But then comes the problem of other animals, like sheep, or cows. Crap...

    Quote from Coolio678

a better idea would be animals to randomly go into love mode, and reproduce naturally if the herd gets too small. This would be more realistic, as IRL animals wont make love only if you give them food. It may be useful, but thats not the sole reason.

Better yet, they enter love mode when they feed on wild grass.

    Would be pointless.

Even if it does kill any mob in a single hit, it would have a snail slow reload speed. The bow is far, far, FAR more efficient because of rate of fire.

If it is a narrow cave, then rush in and light the entire thing. You should only encounter a couple of baddies.

If it is a large "boiling pot" cavern, then light it starting at the edges, keep going around until its safe.

If the cave is multistory (and it sometimes is) light up the upper levels first, but be careful when climbing if you are coming from the bottom level, as you can often get a nasty surprise. To be safe, tower up from the center of the bottom floor, then make a little bridge to the level you are trying to clear.

And last but not least, keep a good look around you! Awareness is the best defense.

    Quote from Izago

I see 1 block holes in my SMP chest house and think I have been griefed. I look outside and see 3 enderman without them seeing me. I fix holes and run to despawn range in mine. :biggrin.gif:
I come back up later and there is a 2 block high hole and a creeper :ohmy.gif:

Lost so many items that day :sad.gif:

    I don't get it.

Post some pictures of this mine, please?

Creepers are not THAT hard to run away from, considering you can/could take one out using the hit and run tactic, even lacking sprint of today. Would be a viable option considering you described your mine as fairly big...

EDIT: Oops, here is my story.

Was in a cave system earlier today. It was absolutely massive. Entrance to it was a couple of feet away from a house which I originally built because an above ground ravine was right next to it (the house).

A couple of run ins with baddies, nothing of note. My tactic is to always sprint in with sword and torch next to each other in space so I can quickly wheel to both of them. Most times my blitzkreig works and I light up the entire cave before a single one spawns. However in big caverns which are multistory there is always that danger of death from above. After a couple of creepers dropped down to say hello, and promptly got cut into dust, I enter this smaller branch of the cave. There is a tiny (1x2) gap to a smaller cavern, and then I see him. Through the gap I accidentally look at him. I try and think what to do with him quickly, as looking at him for too long would cause me to get nailed for having tunnel vision and not being aware of my surroundings. I don't want to look away because I thought the gap was big enough where it would be a problem had I turned away and he decided to come say hello.

I decided to plug up the hole :smile.gif:

I turned around to check surroundings and make sure that I don't have company, and backed away just in time to survive the blast of another surprise creeper. I have my game set to silent, since I go insane when I hear ambient noises. This multiplies the danger of baddies, since I need to spot them first, otherwise I'm screwed.

Got the hell out of there afterwards with skellies on my ass, and loads and loads of iron.

I later go back in there to find 8 diamonds.

I thought you meant the lime green grass of pre-halloween update.

Those were good days. Gave you the feeling of "I have been stranded on some remote archipelago on earth".

Although I remember my first map was a snow themed one.

On topic, I wish they were brought back.

Now I feel like I am stranded on one of the super earths we discovered.

    SCP-173.

It is kind of like enderman, when you look at it it freezes, when you blink it gets closer, eventually killing you.

I found an SCP archive file somewhere, let me look for it..

    Quote from misterbk

Oh I love the Endermen, just not their digging. I think they should spawn with a special block and add to the terrain instead of spawning and deleting from the terrain. Also think that should be the only source of that block, and they should get pissed if they see you remove it.

I get ticked when they remove parts of my bridge going over a canyon (above ground ravine).

Other than that I just let em be. I find parts of trees taken out and placed a couple of meters away quite amusing though.

    Spider Jockeys are rare.

They are hopefully going to stay that way. They are a massive pain.

Ive seen 3 of them before on an old alpha world of mine...

I am not seeing the logic here. Simply more craftables, and a couple that give health instantly, which is nice considering this was removed with 1.8 coming out.

A couple of other variably useful goodies and enchants cant really hurt...

Endermen, like every single other mob, are kind of easy to deal with once you face them a couple of times.

Just wear a pumpkin, or banzai charge it.

The only time I get ticked is when I encounter them in a cave, where it is hard not to look at them.
