Rep is all about goals and fun. To the bone reputation points mean absolutely nothing from a forum perspective, yet they mean a lot from a moral perspective.
Spambots are an infestation that are continuing to lurk forums around the globe. They are not something that we can filter out 100%. We ARE implementing new tools to help prevent this cause, or rather make them known to Moderators and Administrators so that they can be efficiently stopped.
Thanks for clarifying, wasn't really planning on distributing anything anyways but I see it might be a big problem.
Often times users don't realize that they're doing it. For example, a few friends you met may want to play an older version of Minecraft. Distributing the jar file for that version of Minecraft would not be allowed, and this often isn't thought about when users distribute them.
Earlier, I was banned for being afk, instead of being kicked. Reading through the rules, I don't see anything saying this is disallowed.
I'm sorry that I was afk, real life keeps me quite occupied, but how come I received a ban for this? I don't quite believe it's fair considering it's not anywhere in the rules.
You've been unbanned. Note that the rules room at spawn will be updated tomorrow with rules like this. My understanding is that it was simply perceived as spam.
YES! Thank you sir! All this time and bandwidth crap is ********, Something needs to be changed, and some of these ideas need to be taken into thinking. Whitelist apps are Bumps, they still boost the server. If your server dosnt have a whitelist, its useless to even try posting on here without breaking the rules.
Whitelist applications are obviously optional, and they're something we allow here. Please note that the following is allowed in a server thread:
Server related discussion (it's very easy to maintain a server discussion without derailing into something off-topic.)
Relevant updates (i.e. a thought out post with a new server feature, not "10 players on!". This is allowed as long as you're not bumping while doing so, meaning if there's not a post or two in-between a previous post by the same user, it would be considered a bump.)
Basically, you should be at the point where you feel safe having server-related discussion without the intention of bumping. If you're thinking "Oh, I need to post this server update to get the thread bumped", then it's likely against the rules.
