I said that because I could foresee how many people would interpret the idea, I do know that it's lazy, but that's the whole point.
It doesn't take "three seconds to click the ground". You have to a) wait for the leaves to decay or break the leaves yourself. If this was implemented then it would still be beneficial to the player by sticking around to pick up the leaf drops because the apples that can drop wouldn't plant would they?
The criticisms on this thread should be about actual technical problems with saplings auto-planting, not with being lazy.
I would have thought that ender gloves would be an items where you right click a block with them equipped, and then it replaces the "ender gloves" with "ender gloves (block you picked up)". Basically lets you be a semi-enderman.
Thought having the items go straight to enderchest inventory is probably simpler and better for mass mining.
Eh... The mob's appearance doesn't seem very interesting if it's all black but with red eyes and hands. A mob that can take from your inventory is just annoying as ****.
I think you're forgetting that you, humans, and most mammals for that matter, are endotherms. And as such, they can keep a constant body heat and will not freeze to death if they don't bask in the sun for hours. By your logic, you should have froze to death by now, sitting in that dark room of yours.
If Steve was a lizard, this would make more sense.
The core idea makes very little sense to me. If you have the patience to sit next to a block of ore for however long it takes to break with your bare hands, then you almost certainly know what you are doing.
This would likely lead to griefing, since people without the proper tools would be completely blocked by ores.

No! We do not want to change minecraft into a sci fi game. It's too huge of a thing to be added, and I wouldn't like it very much. Mojang can focus on better things. Maybe and I mean MAYBE this could be one of those total conversion DLC's Jeb mentioned, but that's far off in the future.
