Zarius my friend, I need it for FTB, Modloader, or Forge, I know Otherdrops is still around, i've just changed how I configure my server. I love(d) OtherBlocks, it was pretty damned amazing.
There was a plug-in for bukkit called OtherDrops, and one of the most useful features of this to me was it's ability to prevent mobs from dropping loot when killed by non-player sources.
Sunlight? No drops, Mob farm set ups with lava, cacti, etc? Nope... If it wasn't slain by a player, it doesn't drop anything.
I would dearly love to have this functionality back in a mod.
Additionally, if a mob is spawned by a spawner, it doesn't drop anything, regardless of how it's killed. (This does't solve the Blaze problem, unless there's a way to make blazes spawn without a spawner).

A variety of torches of differing burn lengths and resistances (Will not go out in rain, Resistant to blast damage, etc), Fireplaces, more Lanterns, Lamp-Posts, etc.
Maybe combine them with the buildcraft/forestry engines to create power-grids of lighting.
Lamplighter Testificates that trade fuel, lanterns, torches, etc.

An inquiry sir, is this mod functioning by adding and removing light blocks around the player? Just curious why I occasionally will get a crash followed by lantern light blocks in my inventory.
Also, it's QUITE laggy I've noticed, which has been a long problem with dynamic lighting, anything to be done to fix that?
And finally: This mod is amazing in how it changes the face of mining. We've gone down without torches, and it makes the mining so much more interesting and more than a little intimidating. If I could I'd completely remove torches as a permanent light source and strictly use these in my server. The only thing that needs changing is the ability to create longer duration fuel.
May I suggest perhaps working in conjunction with other mods to allow longer duration fuels, and to change the duration of bio-fuel vs Lantern Oil. I'd love to be able to use creosote, biofuel, or fuel from Forestry/Buildcraft for this.
This idea is actually pretty interesting, and no more gory than a couple of concepts I have of my own. Ultimately there's nothing wrong with it, since it's not, ya know.. compulsory for you to play this or add it to your server?
That being said, I look forward to seeing where this goes.
You should add like you did in TC2 as dark side, like the ability to take a dark route.
The Dark Thaumaturge
The night becomes good, you can slay creatures for their souls to enhance your power, however when strong enough they should be able to conjure dark creatures, and/or have evil mobs avoid them and "like" them as so to speak.
but in return you cannot use light themed aspects or aspects themselves as a power source for your evil doings and will however to stop the obvious greifing, they should be unable to gain souls from humans or villagers, well at least souls they can use.
The Light Thaumaturge
And as you can become a evil Thaumaturge you can become an good one, this one should get punished for killing things, like poisoning and get food by feeding off energies around the area, also in a time of crisis they should be a be able to summon a light creature and/or create a temporary shield.
They should have a natural disliking for usage of dark aspects as well, such as rotten flesh.
But I don't wanna be one of those
Obviously you should be able to opt out of these two option and be regular good old Steve the Thaumaturge, without an punishment or disadvantage, just that you get no extra gains out of being them

My only issue with this suggestion is the implication of some kind of morality in Thaumaturgy.
I've always rather like the idea of thinking about it like electricity. It's power, pure and simple, it doesn't HAVE morality. The applications you put it to may have detrimental effects on yourself, but not because of some kind of arbitrary binary moral system.
More like 'Messing with the fundamentals of life isn't healthy yo, and the energies involved aren't good for YOU..'
Consequences not based on morality, but based on messing with the fundamental laws of nature.
Now that you've done that, once you've got a handle on the thaumcraft API..
Add it as a research branch, and perhaps create an enhanced version (Or just a recipe craftable on the table) that combines it with the goggles. Then add in a scuba suit that gives aqua affinity that generates an itty bitty bit of flux when working while wearing it.
On the non-thaumy side:
Add in flippers that let you 'fly' underwater. (No sinking, directional movement as if flying).
Regarding the diving barrel:
Make it the only suit type that gives you armor, but slows your movement. Definitely make it add aqua affinity as an effect (Or at least reduce the water affect a little)
Just want to throw in that saying it's "Hideous" is a bit overstated. I will say, however, that it's a decided take away from the previous textures, and I wouldn't say the new style is an improvement. Just different.

Also, it's QUITE laggy I've noticed, which has been a long problem with dynamic lighting, anything to be done to fix that?
And finally: This mod is amazing in how it changes the face of mining. We've gone down without torches, and it makes the mining so much more interesting and more than a little intimidating. If I could I'd completely remove torches as a permanent light source and strictly use these in my server. The only thing that needs changing is the ability to create longer duration fuel.
May I suggest perhaps working in conjunction with other mods to allow longer duration fuels, and to change the duration of bio-fuel vs Lantern Oil. I'd love to be able to use creosote, biofuel, or fuel from Forestry/Buildcraft for this.
Also, a standing lantern with a longer duration.

My only issue with this suggestion is the implication of some kind of morality in Thaumaturgy.
I've always rather like the idea of thinking about it like electricity. It's power, pure and simple, it doesn't HAVE morality. The applications you put it to may have detrimental effects on yourself, but not because of some kind of arbitrary binary moral system.
More like 'Messing with the fundamentals of life isn't healthy yo, and the energies involved aren't good for YOU..'
Consequences not based on morality, but based on messing with the fundamental laws of nature.

1 - How close together villages are allowed to spawn, and in what biomes.
2 - Non-Mushroom plants *require* clear access to a skyblock (Or Light Level 15 Ala Glowstone) to grow.
3 - Change what is and isn't allowed to spawn in loot chests.
4 - Length of day/night cycle.
Anyone know a good mod or willing to develop one that'll allow me to change any/all of these settings?

Now that you've done that, once you've got a handle on the thaumcraft API..
Add it as a research branch, and perhaps create an enhanced version (Or just a recipe craftable on the table) that combines it with the goggles. Then add in a scuba suit that gives aqua affinity that generates an itty bitty bit of flux when working while wearing it.
On the non-thaumy side:
Add in flippers that let you 'fly' underwater. (No sinking, directional movement as if flying).
Regarding the diving barrel:
Make it the only suit type that gives you armor, but slows your movement. Definitely make it add aqua affinity as an effect (Or at least reduce the water affect a little)
