you need to update it to 1.8 its dumb without the new version

Calling the mod dumb probably won't help it update faster. It may even take slower

Mod makers love to troll people like that. :P

One question. I read that you will add all the characters of middle earth. But you have also said that Peter Jacksons movies is not canon for this mod, so i was wondering if you will add for example Tauriel. Sorry for the english, i hope you will understand.

    Tauriel.
    Will.
    Never.
    Be.
    Added.
    Ever.
    (Hopefully)

Peter Jackson's movies are not cannon, as has been stated by C. Tolkien on multiple occasions.

Unless, of course, someone puts a gun to Mevan's head. Then I am fine with him adding her in.
    But in the mean time...

Relativists, as in... people who believe in the theory of relativity?

Or are you talking about cultural relativists?

Cultural relativists. You know- Right or wrong are what you think they are, and if it doesn't bother me than go ahead!
'The doctrine that knowledge, truth, and morality exist in relation to culture, society, or historical context, and are not absolute.'
    They make me cringe.

I've been playing on a server that uses your mod, and the bandits are making it crash. Our Server Owner has already contacted you, but you haven't done anything about it. It is the bandits that makes the server crash, so FIX YOUR BUG

    Quote from Joetionary»

+1 It Needs To Be Fixed. Much Annoying, Much Cry. FIX YOUR BUG

Listen, both of you - We need the crash report, and, if you are using MCPC+ or Bukkit, it should be noted that this mod is not recommended for use with such programs.

Oh, and people are generally more willing to help when you are a bit more nice about things.
This is a BETA, after all, and bugs are to be expected.

If you decide to ignore this and be all rude about it, eca, a mitta lambetya cendelessë orcova.

Isn't it comforting to know that there is an innate human instinct to right a societal wrong?

On a side note, that quote is so overused...

    That's cuz it's true. XD

And I personally do find it comforting, as it shows humans do have a true sense of what is right and wrong, contrary to whatever relativists say.

Fascinating. I'm not going to judge you based upon your passions, because I'm certainly not one to talk.
I dabble in a lot of things, okay?

But yeah, ignorant people are the worst. Particularly when they choose to stay ignorant. You'd think that in the age of instant information there would be fewer idiots in the world.

    Yep.

But what counts as being idiotic?

We, for some reason known only to God, have taken it upon ourselves to help those ignorant people.
    But it doesn't work.
    Yet we keep doing it.

Or are we all just insane?

To be honest, in my mind I had made you out to be some sort of LotR god but not much else.

    No, not like Eru Ilúvatar...

Well, I'm actually well versed in a lot of things, like:
Harry Potter, Halo, Star Wars (obviously :P), Tolkien's Eä, Legos (XD), Mass Effect, the Elder Scrolls Series, Redwall (Does anyone but me know what that is?), Medieval History, Roman History, Catholicism, cheese, logic...and it goes on.

So don't judge me by what I'm most passionate about.
I just don't like ignorant people suggest things that go against what is true. (Which is, I come to realize, basically the essence of the internet. XD) :P

I'm afraid that I've never studied Elvish, and so I'm gonna ask for a translation of "Sunces yuldar únótimë".

Then, I'm going to go dig up my Return of the King and read the Appendices. And probably see someone beat me to translating it.

It's actually called Quenya - Basically the Indo-European (with the elegance of Latin) of Arda. Sindarin is another language of the elves, and so on. Calling them collectively 'elvish' is like calling all the languages of man 'manish'. :P

I wont say the meaning here, though. It just implies he had one to many drinks. *Wink*

    Quote from Pianissimo»

A troll has been silenced. I do believe I have broken the internet.

Whaat? How...Can this be? IT CAN BE DONE! Logic and the power of Tolkien's languages, man. They can always defuse arguments between anything to do with him. :P

Saying the "gameplay is horrible" and the mod is "literally unplayable" is quite a noteworthy way to describe something which isn't working the way you want it to. Granted, there is no written rule that states thou shalt not flame. But that doesn't mean your extreme disapproval is to go unnoticed. Why would you tell the world that this forum is dedicated to rubbish and not expect a reply or argument? If this is really a place for discussion, why are you so upset when someone responds to your statement?

Your signature lists a bunch of things that you hate in this world. You have a banner which describes you as the living embodiment of sadism. Your use of language shows a very angry outlook with which you approach the world. Have you ever considered that this isn't a contest? That being apathetic and unapproachable isn't some badge of honor?

I like how he stopped replying after this. :P

Well, actually, I think I played this mod before Mevan's...
Halo hasn't been a strong suit for me lore-wise until very recently. :P

Mabay a section where you can see your Alcohol tolarance. And a way to give yourself achievements that are in the mod like the way /alignment works?

But the whole point of Achievements are to ACHIVE them. It would be no fun if you just could use some cheat to get them- There is a reason no game does it.

This whole Hobbit vs. Lord of the Rings is very dependent on Mevans' choice. There are some fairly major differences in location status in the 60 years (Exactly 60, in fact) that pass between the (End of, I think) events of the Hobbit and the beginning of the Lord of the Rings series. Also, there is an almost 20 year time stretch between the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring and the time when Frodo sets out to go to Crickhollow. This time shapes the world in which Frodo journeys in, into a world much deadlier than Bilbo's.

The choice of time is something that will come into play when the characters/pre-generated cities, fortresses, etc. comes in. Until then, it barely even matters. But again, you're asking for an entirely separate mod, built into the mod that already takes up lots of Mevans' and the entire design team's time. It won't happen, certain not soon, probably not ever, at least if my assumptions and readings of the situation are correct.

Anyway, after the overly-wordy answer, I'd recommend laying off the whole "Hobbit" idea. Until and unless Mevans mentions it. Because this is titled "The Lord of the Rings Mod", after all. Be weird to implement "The Hobbit" as the main source of location status...

Let's all be proud and thankful of the work Mevans has done and all that he and the other modders have accomplished, rather than asking for more.

Here's a random fact: The time between the end of the Hobbit, not including the last bit in Bagend, to the main part of the Lord of the Rings is exactly 77 years... :P
