posted a message on The best/worst trade you ever got from a Villager?

    Hi everyone.

There's another thread by a similar title but it's 3 years old, so instead of necroing I figured we could share our findings from these 3 previous years.

So I found a village near my spawn (never seen it before due to savanna plateaus in the way), fortified it, built some farms and then started trading. Here I found some of the best trades I've ever got from villagers.

Best: Diamond pickaxe with Unbreaking III, Efficiency III, Fortune I, for a grand total of... 14 emeralds! I bought three, and I'll always carry one with me at all times.

Worst: An iron shovel for 7 emeralds. Plain, unenchanted, boring... for half the price of the pick mentioned above. Meh.

Honorable mention: Iron sword with Unbreaking III and Bane of Arthropods III for 9 emeralds, even better than the last tier trade (diamond sword with a measly Bane of Arthropod I, 15 emeralds).

    Share yours!

posted a message on New to Redstone, need help with droppers and Cobblestone

I tried copying deitnerb's design but, as I expected, I wasn't exactly successful.

After closely following AlabamahD's video, though, I managed to get the Generator to work.

Thanks a lot to everyone that helped me by posting in this thread.

    Have my likes!

Put a hopper underneath you and fill your inventory, except one spot, with cobblestone. Have a clock connected to a dropper throwing the pickaxe at you. and the hopper goes to that droppe. Without a broken pickaxe you will not collect it, but when it breaks, you will and it is forced to entter that slot.

As I previously mentioned, the passage I'm having trouble with is connecting the dropper and the hopper.

I never lost diamonds, because I always secure the way I came from while mining, going as far as sealing off unexplored sections with glass and lighting everything up.

Also, when I find diamonds or other valuables, Iusually get out soon after to stock them in my castle.

    Try to copy this:

    2016-02-16_12.12.39

Then just put a few pickaxes in the hopper and the items should flow through.

Thanks for sharing this. I can't even find anything on Google about what I'm looking for...
I'll try to replicate your deisng this afternoon. Most probably I'll fail horribly because I'm terrible at it and I won't get half of the things, but it's worth trying anyway.

Just use the normal cobble generator. And then for the pickaxes, fill up every slot of your inventory with one block except for one. Put the pickaxe in the slot you left open. Make a hopper under you that picks up the pickaxes the dropper drops and then sends them back to the dropper, it will just loop around until the current pickaxe breaks. Then you'll pick up the new one with no worries of despawning.

I'm having a lot of trouble sending the pickaxes back to the dropper. How do I accomplish it?

Try looking at this AFK fishing farm that throws poles at you. Might be similar.

That's very interesting, and it gave me a possible idea to deal with the problem I'm facing. Would it work if I set two Droppers, one in front of the other, constantly throwing picks with me standing in the mid? They would keep throwing them, and occasionally I'd pick one because my old one broke.

    There
is a less technical way of doing this, just fill up your inventory with
an item, have one slot for a pickaxe, drop 30 picks under you, so when
it breaks you'll pick up a new one. I don't know if this is the most
efficient way of doing it but whatever :P

I think the timer before an item despawns in 5 minutes... too many would go to waste.

posted a message on New to Redstone, need help with droppers and Cobblestone

    Hi everyone.

So I just started venturing into the big world of Minecraft circuitry, mainly because I need large quantities of Cobblestone for my paths and fortresses (survival mode) and I was looking for something that would allow me to gather large amounts of Cobble while AFK.

I found a simple and effective setup involving lava and water that would allow me to set up a key and leave my character to mine the Cobble on his own while I go do stuff elsewhere.

Problem is, what happens when my pickaxe breaks?

I plan on keeping it low budget, with unenchanted stone pickaxes. Long story short, I need a way to get replacement pickaxes one after the other, in the same inventory slot of course, while I am AFK.

The best I could come up with was a ton of Redstone Repeaters transmitting a redstone signal in loop, connected to a Dropper filled with pickaxes that would throw one at me after a certain time. Problem is, I'd have to time it almost exactly around the time my pickaxe breaks, and that would take an enormous amount of resources in redstone and whatnot.

I'm not sure I was clear enough with my problem. Basically, I want to know the best way to get a replacement pickaxe just when I need it, while being AFK. I suppose it can be done, but I'm struggling to see how.

posted a message on How many bases do you have in your survival world?

How long does it take? I actually had to stop playing for a while to give my fingers and wrists a rest because I was getting sore from all the repetitive placing and breaking of blocks. Got so sore it hurt to even drive my car. Took a few days off, then a week, then another. Took the better part of a month to finish. It's seriously over-powered for a single player world.

I gave some details in this post about my build process and experience.

I have since completed the XP mod to the farm. At the push of a button I can switch from collection mode to XP mode.

Well I get bored building roads so that's not for me. That's awesome anyway!

Thatìs crazy impressive. I spawned in a world that seems to be made up of just deserts and plains so it will be a long time before I see cold biomes (or ocean temples/jungle temples for that matter...) or varying natural structures.

How long does it take to drain an ocean temple and set up a farm?

They probably just threw themselves off cliffs. Damn villagers.

Has anyone ever tried clearing out a temple (jungle, desert, ocean) and then actually living in it? Been wondering it all day.

    What do you mean "resetting"?

So if I do NOT reset the End, I still have my house there, but with nothing else other than the main platform?

If I do reset, do I lose the house, get another layout of the End with chorus plants and end cities included, and another Ender Dragon?

    Hi everyone.

I'd like to know if something will glitch out or change drastically when the patch hits. I don't want to keep playing on a "doomed" world, and it's my first transition between patches where I want to keep the same world. Specifically, I'm afraid of what will happen in the End.

Dig in the side of a mountain until you shape out a crude shelter someone could have used on a first night. Don't put a door, but use torches. Make a room with a Furnace, Crafting Table, and a chest with some rotten flesh, seeds, dirt and cobblestone. Anyone passing by will come and look, find the useless chest, then move on, assuming that base was abandoned.

Then make your base right next to said room; hide the door behind a layer of dirt. No one will suspect anything.
