    Did I understand it correctly:
    • (1) Hacked clients use their own code instead of Minecraft's, therefore Minecraft updates can't break it
    • (2) You can update/create any mod without MCP, MCP just guarantees that you modify the correct parts of Minecraft
    1. It depends on how you interpret "instead of Minecraft's". In a visual explanation, it would be like a small spider web attached to a larger one with a few tethers.
See how Aeon is nestled in the net package? It's pretty much next to Minecraft. However, it is initialized through the normal Minecraftfiles. Beyond that there's only minimal interaction for method hooks.
    2. Exactly. Decompiling text looks messy

    Also,

    Quote from AbdullahiYakub

Well Compared to Modders, All Hackers Have to do is make a small feature Of when a hacker clicks or enables a Hack, That hack will go inside your minecraft's directory and do something to it. For example: When You want to enable a fly hack, The hack go's to your minecraft's directory and enable flying from gamemode 1 besides creative.

It doesn't "go to your directory". Client hacks operate within the jar file. No external inwards pointing modifications are made. As for fly, only a few clients do this. Most clients have custom fly modes that are more rigid.

As for updating before MCP, minecraft is a java game. Decompiling is easy. MCP just makes it millions of times more user friendly. Nodus updated before MCP came out. It turned out to be a buggy pile of useless garbage. Nothing workes without destroying your FPS and not crashing while using mods was a miracle.

    Quote from VCtheDerp

Your account could be hacked. I suggest changing the password to something completely different rather than the same one.

If your skin is changing without you ever touching it, that 'could be' would be a 'is'.

@OP: Make sure your next password is strong. Brute forcers dictionary attack user accounts commonly, so avoid using 1-word passwords. Try something complex.

    Quote from lordTWeaKslide

hmmm that's odd i've been having a problem with my mc account lately too it keeps telling me i'm logged in elsewhere but it lets me log in still

This could be server lag. It's happened to me a few times.

My dad dosen't even want to TALK about it.

You can't argue with somebody who won't have any of your opinion. Try making a point that you can be trusted with the responsibility. Read the post above this and also consider taking security measuers. Add a plugin like NoCheatPlus and make sure you have a rollback plugin (Hawk eye / world guard).

    Quote from dptzippy

BTW I know that when you log on to a site, they have your ip. no secret. So, that wouldn't be an issue.

If he's going on and on about how a public minecraft server will open you up to vulnrabilities, throw up the point that if even without a minecraft port open, if somebody really wanted to you could get really messed up (Reference Wiki article). Besides, opening ONE port for just a game is not going to paint a target on your back with neon letters advertising "DDoS Me Please!".

posted a message on How to protect your account from being hacked
    Quote from Deathlywatcher

Since I want to help you from being hacked I put this up hope you enjoy

    1.
The community: None of the Mojang personnel will ask for your password to help "modify" it or "fix" it so don't give anything away.

    True.

    Quote from Deathlywatcher

    2.
Downloading Mods and Maps: Some may rig a map to have a key logger or virus to watch you type in your password and then process the information to their email. SO DON'T DOWNLOAD MAPS OR MODS UNLESS YOU KNOW THE SITE OF THE DOWNLOAD IS SAFE!!!

This is a load of bullsh1t. Minecraft mods (assuming zip files with class files) are physically unable to get your account details. Your session does not store the password locally (unless you haven't deleted your lastlogin yet, which most people already have done).

Maps? Are you serious? Maps are not going to give you a virus.

    Quote from Deathlywatcher

    3.
    Frauds and scammers:

    True.

    You're missing some things too:

    4. Revenge is never easy (Don't trust shady tools). If you're banned and are looking for a"Force OP" you may as well consider yourself infected.

    5. Use strong passwords that aren't dictionary words. Account crackers (which can attempt up to 10 account combinations per second) will crack your account very quickly if your password is short or weak.

I've felt like I've experienced everything there is in Minecraft. There was a time when I didn't play for a full year, I thinks. Then, I returned. :D

It's good to stop and relax when you feel like you're being forced to do something which you don't have to do. It'll make you feel free. Like a butterfly (no relation).

This. I made something very similar to OP's mod (but not to the forums regulations, and thus not find-able via my account) and dropped all progress on the 1.6.4 update. I took a break playing dozens of steam games. Now, with 1.7.4, I've come back. A break and a fresh start is always a great experience.

I could also see someone attack a server by making the client say:

This is part of my jar, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this...

And send huge files to the point where it crashes/slows the server.

Oh, my jar file? Yes, it's a whole gigabyte. Have fun.

I hope someone at mojang could take up this problem. its not hard to solve.
Personally, I would love to do a full writeup of "MC hash challenge protocol"

You could simply get the hash of the original code and when that code is called, it will return the original code's hash. The peoblem with this entire mindset of hashes is how easy it would be to fake them.

    Quote from bedrockman22

i have the best idea ever a database of hacker each time someone hacks and a server owner knows they upload the hackers username
to the website and when ten server owners do that the hacker gets the added to the hackers database and theres a plugin that scans the database each time a player joins and if there in the database there kicked if anyone does this add me to the credits

I don't like this bedrockman22 guy. You know what? I'll say he hacks for the lulz! That'll really screw him over!
See how easily that system is abused? It's like the old McBans.

Also, imagine the database after a year. It's going to be huge. Smaller servers wouldn't be able to scan the whole thing without a few issues. So anyone who would re-log on the server quickly and persistently may crash the server.

    Quote from bedrockman22

how about if the server scaned your minecraft.jar and if it found a hacked client it would permanately ban your account and ip

    Quote from Gavin1214

Well I feel if Mojang passed something (like a new contract everybody must agree to in order to re-activate their accounts) that stated "Any form of a hacked client (hacking mods only) will result in extreme punishments such as account deleted, IP address is temp. or Perm. denied access to Minecraft itself, etc." would really thin out the number of hackers.

I'm sorry but this is a horrible idea. As others said, you could easily fake the scan result. Plus, if it's a shared computer or network, one person would screw over innocent users. As for the account, you do realize how many people have stolen accounts right? Quite a few hacked client users have multiple accounts gained through various methods. This plan would ruin the game for them for something they weren't even guilty of.

    Quote from Tkpi

Hmm... this wouldn't be completely foolproof, but it might help:

    1. Server sends a random bit string to client.
    2. Server calls a hash function on the entire minecraft.jar file, with the bit string added on.
    3. Client hashes its own minecraft.jar file with the bit string added on, and sends the hash back to server.
    4. If the two hashed strings are equal, server grants access.

The problem would be in number 3. I could easily send a forged hash. It's the same way how you can modify the "jar modified" settings from your crash log. You just comment out a few voids here and there and re-route a few calls and voila!

    Quote from CrescentFresh

My idea (which I haven't a flippin clue on whether it's good or not) is to have servers that force users to redownload official "clean" client everytime you click 'join server'.... This is just a rough idea. I don't claim to be a programmer or anything but maybe my idea is on the right track.

To answer you're question of it's good or not, it's pretty bad. You'd be telling users of the game with poor intenet connection to go screw themselves. Plus, the ammount of stress that would cause on the download servers would be massive.

As for making something like NoCheatPlus, it causes tickrate lag on weaker servers. A product too stressful for the common user would not sell well and thus would not be a good course of action. Due to these reason's my suggestion would be education. If you don't know what the attacker is doing, how can you defend yourself? As somebody who's made/read code for most of the "hacks" in your average hacked client some of the stuff would easily blocked just by watching how a user acts. If you know what to look for, you can pursue a suspect and then, if found guilty, would be free to ban him with the given behavior evidence.

I assumed that it was a virus because the guy who posted it had two posts(...) and like 99% of the time I see such posts on the forum, whether they're mods/tools/whatever, the downloads do contain malicious code(you don't even have to download, cause its so obvious). Sometimes they're from script kiddies who just found some RAT-Builder and sometimes it's some guy who wants to expand his botnet(as Kodehawa said).

Some people are also plain stupid. He may have thought since this was posted it would have been fine and dandy. I've seen people on that level plenty of times on other forums.

    Quote from Kafkakama

Ugh, the Internet is full of viruses, you can find one anywhere. Anyway, it's important to suspect and report suspicious links and such because we don't want Storm Worm happening all over again.

Some of those are good and catch my eye, like the first and second and last. X-ray manager is good. May I ask, we're those just made up or are those actual other cheat packs out there?

They're real and made by programmers I would generally trust. However the subject is sort of a taboo on these forums as they're hacks and thus are against the rules. I got into the hack community and left this one for about a year. There's a lot of the same kinds of people, it's just different content and even more of a grudge-matchey popularity contest.

    Quote from Kodehawa

Also for the first: I'm pretty sure that the page that distributes them in that post have viruses. A lot of different users posted it linking to the same page and the same title, thing that makes me think in a rootkit or a botnet.

Please, a rootkit as a jar? I mean I know it's possible (But stupid to do in java) but most people aren't that smart or don't have the patience. If anything it would be an executable which would say it's an installer. (Dead giveaway)

    Quote from Kodehawa

    That's legitimately a BlockESP :)
I know, it does the job... but that.

I couldn't have noticed since the page was down and there's no cached version of it. So I just assumed it would have been a rather intelligence-lacking poster.

As for blockESP some people love it, others not so much. It's nice if you don't want to edit base files. However I do prefer the opacity xray to ESP. But the code behind ESP is much cleaner :/
