The Nether isn't going to stay dull, why should the Aether stay dull?
I can't beleive you dissagree with EVERYTHING i said :sad.gif: i especially thought i was onto something with the glowstone staircase, i don't think you really understood what i meant. it will be a portal, just like the nether portals, but it will only work above the cloudline, which will imply the aether is above the normal world, or at least that there is some kind of physical connection. when you enter the aether, the staircase will carry on up from near the bottom of the map if possible. it would be "restrictive" but it's not like it would be hard to build above the cloudline. as for the mobs, i guess i could just turn it to peaceful :biggrin.gif: and i got confused about the daey thing, nevermind, sorry about that.
But anyway i still wanna say a few things. I'm worried that Notch will see this thread and not add all the features (which seems highly likely to me). mabey he will pick one idea (e.g. the gale block) but just add it to the normal world, thinking it is what the community wants. when in fact the main point of what we want is another dimention that looks like skylands (right? or am i missing the point?).
but more importantly, about the gameplay thing... I guess all i want to do in the aether is build some cool houses and some funky aetherock contraptions. In normal world atm all you do is explore caves to get resources so you can build houses, and i dont think thats boring, so why can't Aether just be the same but on floating islands?
come to think of it... how do you get resources in the aether? do you still get caves? if not, i can see the need for temples now.
I agree with yours posts. The more you put on your Christmas list, the less likely you're going to get what you wanted. Still a lot better than that nether one, though.
... Anyway pardon my poor choice of words, and try to be light hearted and not so real-worldly about it all. Its not the same as the real world YET!!!!!
So you have absolutely no reason to complain if someone has strict rules on their server? After all, that's the kind of thing oyu hate n real life, and you wouldn't want to be real-worldy about a game?

Griefers are as much a fact of life in the virtual world. While I don't condone the actions of a select few bad actors, I wouldn't cry so much if it happened to me. I'd be disappointed, and then would move on. As intangible as the satisfaction gained from punishments meted out for the crimes, so is the world(s) they occur in. After all, it's only a game.
Monopoly is also just a game, but I imagine most people would be pretty pissed if you just walked up and punted their board across the room while they were playing.
I am very disappointed in him since he stopped listening to the community and such.
...When did he ever start? You know it's true.
True, but you've got to be careful. I mean look at TF2 they after Valve started listening to their community...
Not quite the same thing, but I think the Wikipedia description of design by committee describes what happens if you pander to the mob too much:
The defining characteristics of "design by committee" are needless complexity, internal inconsistency, logical flaws, banality, and the lack of a unifying vision.
Anti-griefer technology annoys me because the ppl using such tech are just a bunch of online cops trying to make the minecraft world locked-down like the real world. Automated banning and black lists are the battle-cry of the ppl I despise in real-life.
You mean like metal detectors and mandatory background checks?
Automated Banning is the divorce of real life
BlackLists are the discrimations of real life
Glenn Beck couldn't draw such absurd connections with all the blackboards in the world.

Herobrine was just a Minecraft-themed run-of-the-mill creepy pasta, but people kept repeating it ad nauseum because it was the only other MC meme besides Creepers sneaking up on people.

Eh, it's okay.

Actually, I'd imagine he'd feel more like how Garry Coleman did whenever he heard someone say, "Whatchu Ttalkin' about?"

When people say he's not real, anyone who isn't a lobotomy patient tends to assume that they're talking about the original creepypasta.

Killing Notch with ideas implies he does anything more than occasionally skim, if that.

If Arthas' horse is called Invincible, how can we see it?

Maybe they're just plain fun if you're the type of person who still quips "The cake is a lie" every single time someone mentions the word "cake."
