posted a message on Widows 10 Beta Edition Bugs

I just did a YouTube video last night about mapping in the Windows 10 Edition. You can now craft a map with the same recipe as the Java / PC version with a compass in the middle surrounded by paper.

Anyway, the video shows how to craft a compass, craft a map, and how to expand a map.

I believe this trick has been disabled at the last big update. Post if you know otherwise or have a new one!

I haven't tried this one myself but this appears to be one that may still work.

posted a message on How do you join a server on xbox one?

There are no servers for the console editions of Minecraft like there are for the PC version. You can set up a game to play with your friends (console to console), but one of you has to host the world on your console and send out invites.

Also at this point in time it is also restricted to the same type of console. Xbox One can only play with other Xbox One consoles, Xbox 360 with other Xbox 360, etc... There isn't any cross-platform play at this time.

posted a message on How 4J Studios could strategically implement Command-Blocks

Honestly I agree with you that this is possibly the only way that command blocks would work correctly in a console environment. There are a couple of problems that 4J would have to work out first.

    1. Most command blocks need to run in the spawn chunks in order for the commands to continuously run. The console edition does not have spawn chunks, so they would have to be added.

    2. People want to use what everyone all the cool and crazy command block designs that they see in numerous YouTube videos. The problem with the console solution with the UI to select a command would be that we would be limited to what 4J releases in the list. With our luck it would be something that they would want to charge extra for ($1.00 for each command that you want to add to your library? Or a bundle of commands for $5.00?)

    3. People would want to write their own commands, which they should be able to do. It's a great idea in theory, and I know that they could easily plug a keyboard into their console to do so. I don't honestly know what happens if a set of commands is entered incorrectly in the PC version. Does it just not work, or can it totally trash the world? A lot of console players have never played the PC version and don't really know anything about command blocks, or the commands that can be entered. Some are fairly simple with just a few lines of text. Others are much more complicated branching thousands of lines of code across multiple command blocks. In a PC environment this is fairly simple, you can just write the commands to a text editor then copy and paste them into your command block(s). We don't have that luxury on the console. You can also go to websites to generate commands for command blocks and copy and paste that code into the command block(s). That's not really possible either on the console.

I am all for command blocks coming to the console edition... as long as 4J can do them right. I just don't want to have to pay for scripts that everyone else gets for free online to add some additional functionality or flair to the game. It's bad enough that we have to pay for skins and resource packs. They need to stop nickel and diming the console players to death over every little thing.

    Quote from mdavis203»

Yeah, obsidian would definitely do the trick, but I don't have enough of it right now, so I'm exploring other options. Just kinda enjoy testing new ways to do stuff. 😉

Thr he yard is lit up, with a couple of cats on sentry duty, but sometimes they wander off. A fence would work until my wife panicked running from a creeper and left the gate open. I read somewhere that a creeper exploding in water didn't affect blocks (although I haven't tested this). That's where I got the water layer idea.

Put a pressure plate inside your yard by the gate so that it will automatically close behind her when she comes in or goes out. As long as your yard is mob proof this should help quite a bit as only the player (or the cats if they are running around) could open the gate to let the hostile mobs in.

Potion of X-Ray vision. It should be fairly expensive to craft though like an eye of ender, golden carrot, and a diamond. It only works underground and lasts a maximum of 30 seconds.

posted a message on XBOX One MC server?

Nope, there are no servers yet for any of the console versions. If you want to play multi-player then someone needs to act as the host on their Xbox and up to eight total players other people can join the game.
