posted a message on Disappearing villagers MCPE 1.0.3

This may be related to a similar issue with peaceful mobs despawning.

If you have a fenced in area that contains peaceful mobs, for example cows. If the pen is larger than 20 blocks in any direction, it is possible for the cows to despawn. If it's 19 blocks in either direction, the cows will not despawn.

If the villagers are using the same code mechanics as other peaceful mobs then they probably can despawn if they are in an area that is larger than 19 blocks in either direction. Since the villagers did not despawn while you had them locked in their houses it makes me think this may be the case as well.

posted a message on Normal Minecraft Won't Work On Windows 10?

I know that a lot of people are having trouble with the new launcher in the Java version. Try using something like MultiMC (multimc.org) as your launcher instead of the default one from Mojang and see if that takes care of the problem for you.

posted a message on MCPE 0.16.0 Commands Won't Work!

You need to include the destination coordinates of where you want to summon the mob to. If you want to summon it to where you are, use the following:

    /summon creeper ~ ~ ~

    /summon horse ~ ~ ~

posted a message on 0.16 Beta Release - Breaks LAN Connectivity

Apple finally updated Minecraft to 0.16.0 last night, only 5 days after Android and Windows 10. I just did a quick test and I can connect my Windows 10 world with my iPad so everything is working correctly for me.

I believe that is a 0.16.0 achievement. So until that releases you won't be able to get it.

posted a message on Short Minecon Rant

Six or seven days would be ridiculously long, and incredibly expensive for anyone to attend. Minecon tickets are for the whole weekend. There are no one-day tickets sold. Also the number of tickets sold is limited and have to be purchased in advance. There are no tickets sold at the door.

I don't understand you statement of "YouTubers sometimes don't have time to go to Minecon." There were MANY YouTubers there. People with millions of subscribers down to people with only a handful of subscribers. If they want or need to go bad enough, they will find a way to attend within those two days.

If you are speaking of logistics such as "I have to work weekends so I can't attend" then that comes down to poor planning. You will be informed months in advance of when the next Minecon is going to be and where it is going to be at. At that point, here is what you need to do:

    1. See if you can get time off of work for the convention. Add at least a day before and a day after the event, so schedule at least four days.
    2. Be prepared and have an EventBright account set up before tickets go on sale.
    3. Tickets will sell out in a matter of minutes. Make sure that you have enough money set aside for the day that tickets go on sale and be on the site just before they become available and click quickly! If you don't succeed in the first run, there will be a second run of tickets that will go on sale a few days later. This is your last chance, so be prepared for that as well.
    4. If you are lucky enough to get a ticket, find a hotel or motel near the event that is reasonably priced and book the room right away. You may have to pay a deposit up front on the room, so make sure you have the money set aside for that.
    5. You should also book your flight (if required) at that time as well since booking in advance is cheaper (make sure you have the money set aside to pay for your travel as well). If you are flying internationally you will also have to make sure you have a current passport. In the US it takes about 6-10 weeks to get a passport if you don't already have one.

Minecon was fun, but also exhausting. Two days was enough.

posted a message on MCPE/MCWIN100/Realms - How do I identify a slime chunk when I'm in it?

There's really no simple way of finding a slime chunk in pocket edition. Since we don't have coordinates (yet) and chunkbase doesn't do anything for Pocket Edition (yet) it's just a bit hit-or-miss with finding one.

You could try something similar to what Monkeyfarm does in this tutorial. It's pretty old, and it was on PC so you won't be able to use coordinates or the x-ray glitch that was in the system at that time. But try his method of digging a tunnel 16 blocks long with a 5x5 room at the end. This will at least get you somewhere near where you would have to dig out for a slime chunk if you find anything.

Using a swamp is your best bet in Pocket Edition as it is a little more predictable. Unfortunately you're not having much luck finding a swamp though. If you do happen to find a swamp, then you can make a super simple slime farm like the one I did in this video.

Good luck, I hope this helped. Unfortunately without a swamp you've got a fair amount of work ahead of you to find a slime chunk.

posted a message on Function Keys

I had a nice long one-on-one talk with Tomasso (the lead developer for Pocket Edition / Windows 10 Edition) this weekend at Minecon. He definitely wants to put coordinates and some of the other information that is displayed in the F3 screen into the game. The hard part for them is how and where to display it so that it will work across all platforms.

    Quote from LinuxKpenguin»

Is it possible to apply a cape to a custom skin?

Actually, there is. It requires a resource pack and for you to download the free Minecon 2016 skin pack as well. I tried I and it works great in the Windows 10 Edition.

Here's the video that EckoXSoldier posted on how to do it in Windows 10 Edition and Pocket Edition for iOS.
