I really think it would help them a lot to make themselves a proper roadmap what they would like to change regarding the terrain-generator. And then focus really hard on finishing this. I don't mind world-gen updates, but it would be nice if they were more rare and better worked out.

I think the scaffold makes perfect sense. Instead of stuffing things into the vehicle creator, I think the basic scaffold layout should be a "U"-form consisting of Vehicle creator blocks, like this :

    :Bench: :Bench: :Bench: :Bench:
    :Bench: :Water: :Water: :Bench:
    :Bench: :Water: :Water: :Bench:
    :Bench: :Water: :Water: :Bench:
It's a nice and simple form and this way you simply had to use a lot more ressources for the ability to build big ships/vehicles. Since you already build your ships from single blocks, big ships automatically take more time and ressources to build, so I think that change (lapis in the vehicle creator) wouldn't add much. Also, it's one of the main distinguishing features compared to other ideas I think.

The "built from single blocks" - design has another flaw (playerwise), since you brought up Zeppelin Mod being easier : It is not that easy to build a boat hull which looks at least like it could swim. I guess lots of people are okay with a swimming cube as long as they can travel the oceans decently, but like ThesaurusRex84 stated, he would dislike seeing penises and Borg cubes crossing the MC Server Oceans

Of course there is no option to prevent this if you love to build ships from single blocks, but I have a suggestion that could prevent a big portion of it. I would really appreciate if you could tell me if this idea is possible or not :

    1. Add some inventory spaces to the vehicle creator, maybe 3*9 to place paper(or other blocks) in it
    2. Build ship
    3. Instead of creating it, add a second button "Create blueprint"
    4. Creating a blueprint "consumes" the ship and produces a piece of paper that lists the type and amount of blocks used.
It is also saves the ship as a file named after the blueprint, containing the data how it actually looked.
    5. Giving away a copy of that blueprint should transfer the corresponding data ( or, in SP, putting the file into the right folder should give you access to the blueprint)
    6. Putting a blueprint together with all necessary resources into the Vehicle Creators inventory should allow you to recreate the ship which was built and consumed for creating the blueprint. The blueprint will not be consumed in the process of building.
(Blueprints should show the size in their name, for example "Frigate 30*9*15")

Now I would love to know from you : Is doing Nr. 4. and 5. possible ? And how would you like this idea ?

    P.S: How about "Ships&More" ^^

The purpose of the frame is to show the limits within you can build your ship. I agree that it is not aesthetically pleasing. Maybe in the future I will change to an alternative method for building ships.

Okay, if you are already thinking about an alternative, let me suggest one.
First, a little example what I'm talking about ( this would be a 2*2*2 shipyard, the bench equals the Vehicle Creator)
    Top view :

    :Bench: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :Bench:
    :cobblestone: :Water: :Water: :cobblestone:
    :cobblestone: :Water: :Water: :cobblestone:
    :Bench: :Water: :Water: :Bench:

    Side view :

    :Bench:
    :cobblestone:
    :cobblestone:
    :Bench: :Water: :Water: :Bench:

This setup works with 5 Vehicle Creator blocks. The 4 ones on the ground define the base area ( upper pic ) and the top one ( in the lower pic ) defines the maximum height. The space enclosed in the picture shown above would equal 2*2*2.
I have no clue how you made your mod work, but as long as you have a space defined by 4+ points ( I just used 5 in the example because it looks better in my opinion) you should not need the pre-determined blocks ( :cobblestone: / :Water: here, glass in your vid) between the Vehicle creator blocks, do you ?

If you made it work this way, the top vehicle creator could be easily disguised as crane or lamp or stuff and the whole thing would look more like a dock. Is this reasonable or possible ?

My plan is to add Submarines in the future, and also airships (yes, just like Zeppelin mod). I am also considering planes, but for that I need to improve the ship's physics (so the plane could pitch and roll). The last addition will be terrestrial vehicles (cars, trains). All of them will be made of blocks, just like boats.

Submarines could be nice, but that would need some more tweaks in terrain generation to make the bottom of the ocean more worthwhile.
But I think you shouldn't really try block made trains, as this will confront you with some very unpleasing properties of the MC world :
First, you would need different tracks for this, you can' let them do a curve with the tracks like this :
:wood: :wood: :wood: :wood: :wood: :wood: :wood:
    :: :: :: :: :: :: :wood:
:wood: :wood: :wood: :wood: :wood: :: :wood:
    :: :: :: :: :wood: :: :wood:
    :: :: :: :: :wood: :: :wood: ( :wood: = tracks)

Second, if wagons made from blocks do not have a pretty big space between them, they will glitch into each other.

If you want to try anyway, I hope this gave you some thoughts in the right direction.

@sirentropy : I didn't try your mod myself yet, but it could be the first one I even want to try ( I'm kind of a vanilla-freak ). It looks awesome.

One thing I would like to see changed though is the "building frame" you use. As it is shown in your video, it looks a bit "out of Minecraft" and not very much like a boat dock.

Is that frame necessary or is it just to show the space ?

posted a message on Make Enchanting Less Annoying (Choose Your Level)
    The randomness is completely redundant.

I mean, we all know which enchantments we'd all want when we go to fight another player.

He didn't want to choose the enchantment, he solely wants to choose the number of Levels he would like to spend. That's completely reasonable, the way it is now is simply absurd and only consumes time and clicks.

Therefore I totally agree with OP. It should be chooseable and the number of bookshelves in range should cap it.

    posted a message on GEODES
Geodes could have a light-fractioning effect, like prisms.
    Example :
If a geode-block is in lightlevel X , it starts to emit light itself with a range of X Blocks. Light should not only be emitted though, it should have a color gradient, too. This would mean that Light would be slightly blue directly adjacent to the geode-block then green and last yellow and red farther away.

Using four colors, light Level 4 :
    (GEODE) :Blue: :Green: :Yellow: :Red:
Using four colors, light Level 12:
(GEODE) :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :Green: :Green: :Green: :Green: :Yellow: :Yellow: :Yellow: :Yellow: :Red: :Red: :Red: :Red: :Red:
I'm not sure how well MC can handle color gradients with lights, so I'm not sure if it's possible. Also, the number of used colors and stuff are only examples to show the concept of my idea.

posted a message on Boats Evolved; bigger, modular boats
@ThesaurusRex84 : I hate it when people come up with the "too complex" - argument.
Especially since something that big would feel utterly ridiculous when implemented in a too simple way. I already can see the hate threads before my inner eye, "WHY IS BUILDING A BOAT SO SIMPLE; REAL BOATS TAKE ... bla."

BTW I do think that there can't be too much people cracking anything, be it games, movies or music

I said this some pages before, but it fits so well to what you said .... :

    Fun fact :

A recent study showed that since the rise of Bit-Torrents in 2003 (Quote ) "international box office returns in our sample were at least 7% lower than they would have been in the absence of pre-release piracy."
    http://papers.ssrn.c...ract_id=1986299

Wow. 7 Percent. They really need to stop whining.

Also : Methods of distribution developed completely proportional between those doing it legally and those doing it illegally. We still have a (extremely !!! ) prospering film and music industry.

    Think about it :

Video - killed the Radio star. Oh. It didn't.
Mix Tapes - will ruin the whole music industry. Oh. It didn't.
CD-Roms - will ruin everything and anything ! Oh. It didn't.
Filesharer - will ruin Music and Film industry - again ! Oh, it never did before ....

Another rant on this topic from me, for those interested in a less "angry" point of view.
