Well it's not so much that OCDcraft is awful, it's that it's awful for most builds. You want your texture pack to compliment your build, not clash with it.

I agree with onxyia, the ocd pack is awful except in certain specific situations and 1x1 towers should be avoided at all costs but other than that it's very good and congrats on finding a build in which you can utilize geometric shapes so well. You obviously have a fantastic grasp of depth and detail so you've got that going for you I just recommend trying out a more suited texture pack like a realism or a sphax-esque pack.

I fixed the windmill and the pagoda should work if you ctrl c ctrl v it, I don't know why it's broken but that'd be how you get to them.

Onxyia, yeah that one was really cramped inside because I built the foundation too small but I'm glad you like the pagoda. I'll be certain to use a much larger base if ever I continue in the cottage style. And Thelt, thanks, it's the Voxel Palceon pack and it does take quite a lot of adjusting to but I'm glad you like the structure of the build.

When I said depth, I meant don't have your walls so flat, like put a wooden pillar one layer out from the wall or encircle your build with half slabs, slabs stairs and fences are you friends for depth. imgur.com/a/PlW2s there's some pictures of a house I built that I think shows depth well. Note the borders and the overhang on the roof.

Thank you, thank you, infinite thank you. I was so ed off that when Eloraam dropped off the face of the Earth she kept the source code which is basically a giant middle finger to anybody who likes Redpower. I understand her wanting to quit, modding isn't an easy thing to do and I can imagine that would be incredibly stressful be the sole creator of such a well liked mod, but she can't just leave without at least appointing a successor. I am so glad that you took up the torch despite how hard it must be to rebuild such a feature filled mod from scratch.

Alright, good first step, but If I were you, I'd work on your detailing and sense of depth in your build. You understand that square buildings and monoblock walls are tremendously boring but you do need to work on your depth. And one more thing, try not to use checkerboard patterns, they just look bland. I hope I don't sound like too much of a ****, I'm just trying to help, you know?

posted a message on Need building ideas for a city
You should make a large, radial based road system out from the central tower with a few main roads and many smaller roads crisscrossing about, then put rather tiny houses about on the smaller roads and trade markets along the avenues, that's basically the way the Middle East tends to work in real life. Recommended blocks are all the sandstones as base blocks, stone based blocks to break up colour, and brightly coloured wools for accent colour.I also agree with Henriquemiguel in saying there should be aqueducts leading to the tower but there should also be a moat of sorts and some fountains around the tower but then in the city, there should be a small well on the main road halfway between each tower to show that the rich have a lot of water to waste and the populous have less than enough to live on.

Sorry about typing so much, but I really like the style you used here and have a lot of ideas I'd use. But it's not my build, I realize that I'm not trying to impose my vision on your creative project so use as many or none of my ideas, whatever you feel like.

Thanks, man this'll be a nice resource for when I finally kick my procrastination into enough submission to build a city.I do however suggest you add something along the lines of "These are not all the styles you can use, you can even use styles you come up with on your own, based on architecture you're personally familiar with, or have no unified style at all if you think you can manage it with it still looking good. These are only a few examples I remembered off the top of my head." To the end of the styles bit. Overall really nice guide, though, like I say it'll be rather useful.

For the fridge, you can put a dispenser or dropper with an iron or snow block over the dispenser with an iron door in front and a button on the iron block so when you push the button the door opens and the dispenser drops out food.

My building style is more medieval or steampunk so modern just doesn't really strike my fancy. I'm trying to learn how to build dystopic cities so this may help at some point but for now, my build style just isn't the same.
