On my main server, I always enforce a golden rule: "If it's not yours, don't touch it." It's a very simple concept that we all [should] follow IRL, but for some reason it's become alright to do in video games.

IF this server goes theft-allowed, then what's to stop it from allowing full griefing? Once you allow a little, it's a slippery slope to allow a lot. Example: "This guy stole my diamonds, but since I can't find his storage, I'm going to blow up his house instead."

Being a free server with few resources and a very small and relatively inactive userbase, the best protections are really unfeasible. I can really only suggest that players stay vigilant and HIDE your storage as best you can. Use redstone and pistons, locks and doors....if this is just a random thief of opportunity, basic MC precautions should serve. If not...and the thief/thieves resort to full-on griefing, then that's a whole other problem. If we have a griefer in staff...

Is the whitelist cleaned and pruned of all the members who have been fired on a semi-regular basis?

It IS a shame....the entire point of this server when it was first established was so that staff could play in peace without the headaches and griefing that plague normal servers. On a private server, this should not be an issue, ESPECIALLY not one where the members are all supposed to be colleagues.

From experience, I can vouch for the LogBlock plugin. The problem shouldn't be bad enough that a protection plugin would be needed, but LogBlock can help to identify who caused the problem. It can note block changes and chest changes, and will give the date and the user. Best of all, because it doesn't change the gameplay, it's something that can be given to everyone. Even in cases where no theft or griefing has occurred, it can be nice to check a block to identify "whose branch mine it is," or "who built that house."

On the server I primarily play on, Donors and Staff can use it, and the tool assigned (for us) is the oft-neglected wooden shovel. A simple right-click with the shovel gives a chat-page of the changes made to that block. Every major update, the tech staff culls the logs back to like the last six-months.

It's a good map! I haven't started fresh in MC since last June, so it was a lot of fun. I've started a base and mine in the tree-less snows northeast of the spawn

I will say, I do miss that Wedge generation. It makes for such wonderful variation. Epic render there, Ralex.

I may have to visit and make a cursory house in the new map, just for the fun of it. :)

omg, that cartoon made me cry so much. But in a good way.

If a cartoon could do that, then brace yourself: The Rainbow Bridge :)

    Here's my girl.

well, I had made a post in A&M but we don't have access there anymore. TLDR I have no time and need to be making money, working on the forums meant I neglected something else I needed to do.

I know exactly what you mean. I made the decision that what little free time I was going to have would be for enjoying Minecraft, not policing idiots.

Thank you, that is very ki- Wait a sec, where the hell is your Doozer avatar? D:

    You're always welcome here Light.

The Doozer avatar went away when my skin changed. It's basically me in real life, dressed like a steampunky-Browncoat. The avatar was made by a member of the Veterancraft server, where I've been playing since June. There's an image of it in-game here.

Hehe, thanks, I think in some way I'll always be around, and I'll still pop in to the staff server every now and then.

False you are on the deck of an airship, the bridge is where the ship can be commanded from. Even more correct you are on the starboard side of the deck

    I stand corrected.:)

Yes. More on-topic than what has been going on in this thread, though. :P

I've just altered my avatar to match my new in-game skin. One of the guys who plays on VC does artwork, and made a custom paintings file for texture packs that shows some of the server players. This pic does show up in game, replacing the default "skull" painting.

Pimping not required. :D It's a cartoon me on the bridge of an airship.

Asking for suggestions in a Minecraft forum, I'm surprised no one has suggested Notch yet. I think that's an adorable name for a pet.
