Is there a size limit for running Isocraft?

An early version of a map I'm working on runs through fine (on the low-quality tileset), but the current version, although it still runs fine in Minecraft, won't open. I can't even tell what the error is, since the Window closes too quickly.

The map is 512x512x256, and the filesize is currently 634KB.

I'm also Java illiterate, so please be gentle. I can follow directions great, but although I've tried every troubleshooting solution in this thread so far, no luck.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

ALL buildings and every part of the castle have interiors. I haven't furnished everything yet....some of the lower floors of the Season Towers and most of the town remains empty. I'm probably going to get to that this weekend before I start Funderling Town and the Mysteries.

Shadowmarch Market Square and Town is nearly done: I'm very pleased with it. A few more houses to go, and then it's on to Funderling Town and The Mysteries.
    *Awesome picture*

How are you placing the admincrete in SP? Or are you doing this an a private server?

    Looks awesome, by the way.

Thanks! It's it's SP, but not admincrete, just shadowed cobblestone. The shadows work great for varying the color of the walls.

And, Alex4tune, looks good so far! I'm happy to inspire, just remember that I myself was inspired by the book Shadowmarch by Tad Williams. I can't take sole credit for all that.

Those are good uses too, but I'm able to ask the same question: If Notch makes traps, would there be a reason not to fix it?

What I'm trying to get at is, is there a reason why this glitch should be kept....as opposed to getting implemented features which render it worthless and thus fixable?

For example, the Water Glitch with sand and gravel that was recently fixed; I would have liked to have kept it, since now there's no way to get water above sea-level without resorting to mods, tools, etc. But if Notch had waited until after implementing limited water with some sort of pump, well, that would have been just fine, since the need for that glitch would have been removed.

    I'm just askin'. :smile.gif:

It seems (to me) that the big reason the glitch is desirable is because it can be used for doors.

But what about if/when Notch implements actual doors? Is there another reason not to fix this, then?

If it was me, I'd stick with the old models, but give them knees and elbows.

I can't imagine MineCraft without blocky large-headed pixelated people running around... :tongue.gif:

    This.

Despite the awesomeness of the new capabilities, I don't think the demo looks at all like Minecraft. I'd prefer small-scale changes that allow for greater versatility but still keep the same feel.

    But you're just so tasty....

I expect it may be a feature for some AI down the road, but probably not for things like the undead.

You can get out by jumping the ruins here, right near the beacon. The building I was talking about is the one you can see in the pic. I did play with 2 levels of fog, I just took this pic without it for explanation purposes.

Great level! Now I'm just curious as to how vines grew in the Arctic. XD

    Global Warming. :tongue.gif:

It's a good map. A little roundabout, but it works. That building on the outskirts....is there any legal way to get out to it? There was an area where I could jump the outer wall, but there didn't seem to be a way back so I wasn't sure. The "C" room also threw me for a loop. It's so far away from the area you called "the end" right now, that I was thinking there was something else to it.

I finally manned up and bought Minecraft.:biggrin.gif: It's about time, it just felt right.

Too bad I'm still not in a good position to play any multiplayer, but at least I'll now be able to fully share Shadowmarch when it's done.

I like it; it's well built and very quaint.

In a tight pinch, leaf blocks make good shrubs as well. They don't need sun or soil, and they don't grow.

One thing you could do is a market square. In the medieval era, houses on the square would have their first floors set up like stalls.

And if you're going to expand the castle, think about storage rooms, treasury, dungeon, crypt, armory, a well, etc. There a lot of auxilliary structures a castle needs. In addition, you may want think about a Residence for the castle. The truth is, LOTS of people live in castles, since they were the safest place to be. Not only do you need luxury apartments for the royals/nobles that hold the castle, but apartments and tower rooms for lesser nobles and important castle folk, as well as servant quarters.
