Not right now, but that'd be an easy change if it were exploited.

posted a message on Post imit?
As Pastmaster said, it's a new spam-fighting measure. New users are only permitted their first 10 posts within 24 hours. It is a move to limit the severity of spammer attacks.

New users should be reading the stickies and Rules more than posting like crazy anyways. 10 posts in 24 hours should not be a huge restriction to those who are posting properly.

posted a message on i want old minecraft forums
There are still bugs. Curse is working them out when they have time.

As for lag, it's MUCH better than the old forums, but we're still a very huge site. When large numbers visit, we get congested just like a road at rush hour.

posted a message on [SUGGESTION] A new way to bump
The idea is to NOT bump, not to find a way to bump without posting "bump."

Bumping is the act of putting your thread above other active threads, when your thread is not active. You, the OP, cannot make the thread active. To selfishly put your own thread above those in which the community is actively discussing is what is against the rules. (I say "your," but it's only an example.)

I hope that clears it up. There will never be an official, sanctioned way to bump.

posted a message on Anti-spam coming anytime soon?
As I mentioned in another thread, it's very difficult for us normal mods and even admins to completely prevent a dedicated spammer. Curse can do more, and they do, but it's a constant battle. Too much of an offensive on our part makes it difficult for normal users to register.

The efforts that we've taken since the site move have reduced the amount of advertising and casual spam by about a bajillion %, though, which is nice.

As for blocking topics from ignored users, that's something Curse will have to implement, but shouldn't be too difficult.

As for what the community can do, PLEASE stop reporting profiles of spammers. That does us no good at all, because then we have to go hunting for the spam. Profile reporting should ONLY be used for reporting sig and avatar abuse, or status updates that violate the rules.

In all cases, the threads or posts with the actual violation of the spamming should be reported.

posted a message on Reset poll
When you Edit the poll, there should be a box with the # of responses next to each choice. You should be able to change them to zero. If you can't, we'll be able to edit them for you, just post the topic with the poll here.

P.S. What ever happened to anti spam protection measures :sad.gif: ---> http://www.minecraft...-released-mods/

Anti-spam measures are never fool-proof. They're intended to make things inconvenient for advertisers and to keep the casual spam accounts low in number. If we made them too stringent, it would inhibit the ability for normal members to register.

Unfortunately, when we're hit with a dedicated tool who either has a vendetta against the forums or is just having a grand-old time, there isn't a lot that can be done from our level to stop him. We can really only clean up his mess. Curse, Alexia in particular, has been doing a lot more to prevent these attacks, but it does require constant adjustment to counter the spam attacks, so it's still going to happen as long as the spammers are dedicated on being a thorn in our side. Welcome to the internets.

posted a message on Mega-Threads, against the rules?
Redundant Suggestions aren't a warnable offense so long as the offender is just being n00bish. We've warned before (and will continue to warn) users who spam redundant suggestions, particularly if they're hijacking other suggestion threads or if they've been told to stop it before.

But yeah, SF, you have the right of it. For instance, my Alchemy thread is a "megathread" of sorts, because it has a lot of ideas, but they're all related to a specific and singular suggestion: Alchemy in Minecraft. The same can be said for the Nether megathread, or some of the RPG megathreads. What we don't want are threads like:

    My Suggestions for Minecraft:

    Bigger boats

    More mobs

    RPG stuff

    Guns!

    *Pew Pew* Magic

    Dragons!

Post if you agree, or want to add anything to it!

posted a message on Bring wish lists back to the Minecraft forums
Wish lists also caused a lot of duplication. Not that there isn't a lot of that going on still, but it was even worse with wish lists.

"I don't care if this has been suggested before, this is MY wishlist for Minecraft."

posted a message on Is this against the rules?
We have a lot of members posting here, and everyone gets an equal opportunity to have their content viewed. To be fair, we use the same system as 99% of the rest of the forums on the internet: Survival of the fittest.

If your video dies, it dies. Leave it dead. Do not bump it, nor make another thread for it. Doing so will get the threads closed, and may result in Warnings if the behavior persists.

It's a harsh system, but one that is fairest to everyone. The community decides, through their responses, which threads are worthy to stay active.

posted a message on Why Your RPG Ideas Will Not Work For Minecraft
This is GREAT discussion, and I don't want to stifle it, but it's not really appropriate for a sticky. Stickies are supposed to be informational facts for the forum, and this is an opinion/debate.

    So keep it going!
