Here's my fork. The original goal was to make the addon lighter/faster, but I don't think everyone will see an improvement, as the latest version is already really good. I also include a set of shaders with my preferred effects.

    Known incompatibilites:
Most shaders should be compatible, with a few exceptions:
    1. gdepth only includes terrain depth, which may result in artifacts on shaders which use it heavily (SSAO, etc.).
    2. gaux2 and gaux3 are both disabled. Most shaders don't need them anyway.

gdepth is exposed to the water shader program, which enables volumetric effects.

    The shaders:
I choose to use a few subtle effects which make the Minecraft world feel more dynamic while preserving the game's original retro aesthetic. Included are:
    1. More correct world curvature. This is an improvement over existing shaders which:
      1. Operate in view space after rotations are applied, which results in unnatural warping when the player rotates. My world curvature operates in unrotated view space, which eliminates this warping.
      2. Generally use parabolic curvature instead of true spherical curvature or use other approximations. My shaders use spherical curvature, which might be slower on some systems but I feel that the effect is vastly improved.
    2. Volumetric water. Deeper water appears more opaque.
    3. Wavy animated water.
    4. Wavy grass/wheat - This was not written or modified by me, it is borrowed directly from the original shaders.

Although DoF appears in the screenshot, I ended up disabling it. It still works, though, and if you wish to enable it you can simply replace final.fsh with the original final.fsh in the OP.

Lastly, if you have any problems with this modified version, please clearly indicate that you are using my fork when seeking help or contact me directly to avoid confusion.

i tried this and it made all the mobs and my hand transparent, i reinstalled dax's shaders.class and the transparency went away so it was definitely yours that did it. otherwise it did seem to work well although i couldn't get the 1.0 shaders to work (turned everything grey)

cel-shading is probably my #1 favorite shader in general but the one we currently have still needs some work.

i think the outlines from a distance are switched, they are thick from afar and get thinner as you get closer. they should be thin from afar and get thicker as you get closer.

Ummm... you're wrong? Not much else I can say. The earlier version of this mod worked perfectly on this machine, and I haven't changed the hardware a bit, and when I first installed it, I had the default drivers for the card. Now I'm 3 years more recent on my software. So if ATI hates glsl, that's a recent dumbassery on their part. I'm not buying that.

You're right, but that wasn't news to me. The Catalyst control center is full of settings you really can't touch, because most software refuses to get bossed around by the CCC settings. Mipmapping can be safely juiced up, but everything else you gotta leave be. The only setting I bother changing on Catalyst is the Tear-Free setting. It's also how I setup my dual-monitors properly.

wish i could help more but im actually technically ignorant but highly proficient at googling till i get what i want (or google until i am convinced something is impossible). when i couldnt get minecraft to run at all in windows 8 i just googled and googled until i found a way to bypass toshiba's captivity of my drivers and then it was almost like getting a new computer, for the first time i saw 64bit windows and said "wow" out loud. i always wondered why ubuntu looked 100x better than my 64bit windows 7 and it was because it was being held back. good luck sir!

Oh. I got the impression from that post that you were throwing your hands in the air. If it helps, while an outdated Catalyst might be the source of some problems, I have the latest one, and that didn't influence my outcome in teh slightest, as my first attempt had identical results, and an older Catalyst.

just curious but what are you catalyst game settings (AA, mipmapping, catalyst AI)? I've found that using "application setting" is the safe bet but that only a select few things can be overridden otherwise. certain things like AA cannot be anything other than "application setting" or else i get weird lines.

play around with those and see if it changes anything

also in addition transparency problems in sphax and balea, all of the mobs have a circular shadow underneath them. i don't remember if it was there before or not but it looks weird now.

i can confirm that the cel-shader for 2.0 works but texture packs will need to be optimized, anything with transparency in sphax and balea looks messed up (trees, shrooms, etc...). i tried a pack called janinacraft and that looked fine. i can't try default textures cause i accidentally overwrote the default terrain with the sphax one so that is my default.

thanks to the anonymous contributor, now lets work on combining all the known shaders for a supermega shader

sorry spruu, didnt mean to hit reply to yours in particular

if you're going to declare the release i would edit the first total post and just shove everything from the old shaders under a "click to see" button and get rid of the videos you have up, get permission to post some of the videos from the last couple pages instead

i realize you say please read the whole post and read the wiki but it is still kinda misleading to have the first video have cel-shading when it's not out yet and then afterwards disclaim it isnt yet supported, just keep out the unnecessary stuff for now and make it as easy as possible for people

EDIT: trying celshader from ^^ now, didnt see it before i made my post but video is still an old one...will report back

****! Beat me to it.... :sleep.gif:

Will be done uploading in about... 5 minutes or so Its done :biggrin.gif:

Trecko, maybe it's just me but other than the furnace at the very end I don't notice any bump-mapping. Plus those plants need work but the texture pack itself looks very nice.

I will donate $20 by paypal to the first (nonbuggy) shader posted in this thread that combines:
    1) Cel-shading
    2) Bloom
    3) DOF
    4) World Curvature
    5) AA
    with tweak-ability for each (on/off/more/less)

really looking forward to using cartoonish packs like Sphax (favorite!), updated for 1.0 Minecraft4Kids, and a 128x update of Frenden's Cartoon Pack for 1.0

    things like these:

Im not sure if ime the only one who gets this...... can someone else try it

when i press F8 for smooth cam and move it around, its kinda bumpy and stops n stuff, glitchy

ive never tried f8 before but it just...moved...very...slowly. not bumpy or "stops n stuff" though.

    I installed
    1) bare minecraft 1.0
    2) mcpatcher 2.22
    3) modloader
    4) nitrous shaders
    5) alternative bump shaders
    6) DOF+BLOOM+CROSS shaders (from this page)

and everything works fantastic (even bump mapping), i have everything enabled and i am seeing great effects on both sphax 128x (with tf2jake's terrain files) and balea 256x (3.1 beta). you just have to switch the // in the gbuffers_terrain file to switch between them.

i cannot run in fullscreen very well (10fps) but i can run in windowed with no noticeable lag with both texture packs (~25-30fps). not ideal but definitely playable without being annoying.

NOTE: I have modloader installed but I have not installed any mods into it

    specs:
    i5 M460 @ 2.53Ghz
    4GB RAM
    Windows 8 Developer Preview
    Java 64bit
ATI Radeon Mobility 5450 w Catalyst 11.10 (this step was the hardest, 2 weeks ago i spent hours getting my drivers updated since Toshiba doesn't allow you to just use them from the ATI site and they were way outdated on Toshiba's site - needless to say this could be people's bottleneck)

    THANK YOU TF2JAKE!

After trying to use that crazybump program and getting nowhere I was finally able to use your terrain_nh to see bump mapping in the Sphax texture pack. Also the bloom shader worked as well.

That crazy bump program simply does not work! (at least not the way it was given in the directions) So I'll just wait for a full 128x128 Sphax bump texture pack and then I'll be good to go!

can someone please post a bump shader set for 256x with pronounced height maps. I fail at altering the files myself. I have a 1.0 ready version of my pack done...but I just can't get the pop I want from the shaders. (used the 128x settings with old shaders, with same terrain_nh with excellent results)

if someone has, and I missed it... apologies.

same here, i'm using the crazy bump program posted a few pages back and i'm not getting any pop out of any texture packs at all, ive tried a few photorealistic, balea, bump mapping simulation, sphax, etc...

can someone post a terrain_nh that they guarantee will pop with these new shaders and which texture pack to go with it?
the program seems to be working right because like i said earlier i can create a terrain_s effect just fine.

Bump-mapping requires a texture pack that supports it.

is there a list of texture packs which support it?

I see Balea and possibly LB Photorealism, any others?
