Shading can be ignored if it's a stylistic approach. Most simple packs rely on that; the whole point is that they don't have shading. Thus, your point is moot.
Why do ores need to look more like ores? They can also be a stylistic approach.
Overall, most of your points seem to be contradicting the whole point of simple packs. I can understand not liking them, but saying that they have to change just because you don't like it is rather selfish.
I have decided to keep away from shading, just in case you wanted to know. I like the way things look now, and after I attempted shading earlier today, it looked like a completely different texture pack.
Hmm, I have to disagree about the shading bit. If your aim is to be simplistic, then stick with that. Adding shading and shadows (or too much) might take away from that. If you think that you like that look though, totally go for it.
Who cares if it's been done 100 times, your job is to do it again but make it original! There's been a hundred thousand zillion impressionist feeling paintings done of outdoor scenes but each one is different because of how the artist changed it! Do something that's never been done before to make it yours!

It isn't horrible, but it needs a whole bunch of work done on it. Many of the textures have no shading, they are just solid color rectangles. You need to add some shading, or at least small dots of colors here and there to give it more texture. no pun intended The ores need to look more like...well...ores. Right now they are squares on a solid grey background. The mossy is too...erm...scribbly? I don't know, but I don't like the look of it much. The glowstone is a bit dull, just add some brighter colors and it will look fine. All the other textures will look great if some shading is added, and I love the way the glass looks.

It is a simple texture pack, as the name implies, simpliste or simple in French. I like the look of more simple plain textures, so I made one. I guess the texture will appeal to people who like simple things like me :biggrin.gif:
