    posted a message on How to encrypt the map?

    You could encrypt your files but then no one could use the files without decrypting them. Anyone you let play the maps will have full access to copy and modify them as well. I suppose you could host a server with your maps and then the world data wouldn't be completely loaded on their system, but you wouldn't be able to reach as many players.

    Wow, there are comments at last! Sorry for not noticing sooner, it looks like I didn't have my notifications setup right so I had no idea until I just happened to stop by and take a look in here. I really appreciate your kind words, especially that glowing review that helped give the map some more attention, katewilds! I enjoyed putting this map together and I felt confident it would be really fun if people gave it a chance but after a few months without catching any interest, I didn't expect anything more would come up.

    unfixingalloy133817, that is a bizarre glitch! Were you using 1.12.2 the whole time? Switching versions or some kind of mod compatibility issues are the only things I would expect to cause an issue like that. I don't think there is an easy fix :( You will want to be able to consult the signs so you know what artifacts go where, if nothing else. Your best bet is getting a new copy of the map and starting over. You can use commands to give yourself a head start to catch up to where you left off. By the way, do you have a link to that video? I'd love to watch it!

    Sarium, I'm so pleased that you would like to make a Construct style game. There is so much potential and building is what Minecraft is all about! Unfortunately there aren't any tutorials... no one else has tried to make a Construct game that I'm aware of. You can see examples in a new copy of the Grand Museum map. Go into Spectator mode and look underground. Some of the commands will have signs on them that will explain what they do, like the Egyptian head. However, there are a lot of bells and whistles in Grand Museum that you don't really need for Construct (things like sound and particle effects and advancements). You just need one command that compares blocks from one place to another. You'll see pretty easy in Spectator mode that all of the things being constructed have a complete version of it underneath, then it's a "testforblocks" command to see if what the player made is the same as the finished version at the other location. Unfortunately, they took that command out in 1.13 (waiting for the new changes to the commands is what kept me from making another map already). In 1.13, they want you to use this instead:

    • /execute (if|unless) blocks <begin> <end> <destination> (all|masked) <chained command> executes a command if (or unless) the region between <begin> and <end> matches <destination>.

    A really simple version of the 1.13 command could be:

    /execute if blocks 1 65 1 2 66 2 4 65 1 all run say You did it!

    All that does is check if all of the blocks between 1 65 1 and 2 66 2 are the same as the blocks at 4 65 1 (starting in the corner with the lowest number of coordinates and extending as far as the first square. In this case it's 8 blocks being checked.). Next, if it's a match, it runs the "say" command, which puts "You did it!" in the chat. There are some tricky things to worry about because blocks that *look* exactly the same are not always exactly the same in the data. It takes work, but you can do it! Thank you again for your interest!

    Grand Museum Title

    You took a chance. You put yourself a million dollars into debt to become the new owner of the Grand Museum. The building was finished, but the exhibits are missing! You need to purchase, collect, and construct large and small exhibits to encourage visitors to donate enough money that you can stay ahead of the loan payments and make a big profit for more projects!

    It's a race against the debt collectors that you're sure to win if you can put up your exhibits fast enough. Your visitors can't get enough! They're throwing thousands of dollars at you! Some of the exhibits are going to be super easy, like pressing a button, but can you reconstruct an entire dinosaur skeleton? Or find the hidden pharaoh's tomb?

    This map is filled with custom advancements, as well as sound and particle effects, to give you a finely polished and exciting game experience. You'll wonder how it was all done in Vanilla, and you may just learn a few tricks by looking around behind the scenes. Look me up on Twitter, @LRStrasburg, if you have questions or suggestions!

    FEATURES

    * Solo or Co-Op
    * Casual and Challenge Modes
    * Custom Advancements for all challenges
    * Sound and particle effects
    * 6 themed museum sections
    * Explore ancient ruins
    * Discover dinosaur fossils
    * Construct interesting exhibits
    * Attract more visitors!

    RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

    * Vanilla Minecraft version 1.12.2
    * Adventure Mode (the mode you start in)
    * "enable-command-block=true" if on a server. Also be aware many advancements can only be triggered once, so if a player is missing when it happens, they won't be able to get it on that play-through.

    Thanks for the feedback! I don't expect this kind of map to appeal to everyone. Repairing the ship is the central gameplay mechanic so if that didn't interest you, I'm glad you didn't spend more than an hour checking it out. If you did manage to get past that part that annoyed you, you would have been given a lot more intel, but I admit that is a nasty hurdle. I suspect I lose half of the players right there.

    posted a message on [Solved] Fireworks colors only show black

    So I was about to report a bug when I found this link: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-118277

    The moderator says that the nbt phrasing has changed and that the colors need to be an array of integers, not a list. I'm still missing something though, because I can't get his suggestion to work and I've tried several different versions (top one is my best guess, the second one is literally what was suggested but it's not even syntactically correct):

    summon fireworks_rocket ~ ~ ~ {Motion:[0.0,1.0,0.0],LifeTime:25,FireworksItem:{id:fireworks,Count:1,tag:{Fireworks:{Explosions:[{Flicker:1,Trail:0,Type:1,Colors:[{i:13238093},{i:16768307}],FadeColors:[{i:16505855}]}]}}}}

    summon fireworks_rocket ~ ~ ~ {Motion:[0.0,1.0,0.0],LifeTime:25,FireworksItem:{id:fireworks,Count:1,tag:{Fireworks:{Explosions:[{Flicker:1,Trail:0,Type:1,Colors:[I;13238093}],FadeColors:[I;16505855]}]}}}}

    Edit: Look at that, I didn't take out a curly brace. It isn't a typo, it's literally "I;"

    Wow, I didn't know you could place end gateways! Fascinating!

    Quote from redcanary»

    The "end screen" is an end gateway block. You cannot find it in the creative inventory or /give it. You can place it though by either typing

    /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:end_gateway

    or

    /fill ~ ~ ~ ~2 ~2 ~2 minecraft:end_gateway

    posted a message on [Solved] Fireworks colors only show black

    Trying to summon fireworks, but for some reason the color always ends up being black (in 1.12). Anyone see what I'm missing? (Indented to make it easier to read)

    /summon fireworks_rocket ~ ~ ~
    {
    	Motion:[0.0,1.0,0.0],
    	LifeTime:25,
    	FireworksItem:
    	{
    		id:fireworks,Count:1,tag:
    		{
    			Fireworks:
    			{
    				Explosions:
    				[
    					{
    						Flicker:1,Trail:0,Type:1,Colors:[13238093,16768307],FadeColors:[16505855]
    					}
    				]
    			}
    		}
    	}
    }

    It's working fine in 1.11.2.

    SOLUTION:

    You just have to add a little prefix to the list of integers within the array. "I;"

    Example:

    summon fireworks_rocket ~ ~ ~ {Motion:[0.0,1.0,0.0],LifeTime:25,FireworksItem:{id:fireworks,Count:1,tag:{Fireworks:{Explosions:[{Flicker:1,Trail:0,Type:1,Colors:[I;13238093,12988888],FadeColors:[I;16505855]}]}}}}

    posted a message on Adventure Map Recommandations

    The Albatross is 1.10.2.

    I started updating to 1.11 but so many things were broken by the changes to commands! I really wanted the fix for signs not showing score, but it was the only real advantage. Even the new gameloop feature isn't useful because I built global events into the spawn chunk and that method still has some advantages over the gameloop.

    "Construct" means the main objective is construction. To complete the map, you build or rebuild a structure. The testforblocks command can be used to validate the results against a complete model and announce success when they match.

    In the Albatross map, the structure is a spacecraft. Some parts are just scattered and they reassemble when you find them while other parts have "bad" blocks that need to be replaced with "good" blocks. With the hull, the bad blocks are cobblestone and you need them to be replaced with iron blocks. The materials can be found through normal mining and through special events the players might encounter. There's a bonus that when you complete certain parts of the ship, new features are unlocked.

    I considered putting this in the CTM category, because in a way it's just a big monument to complete, but the spirit of the objective is different. CTM's have you collect a very specific block and put it on a pedestal or in a slot. Constructs should include more complex structures that you are creating or fixing. CTM's are like filling a cabinet with trophies where Constructs are like making a cabinet to put trophies in.

    If you already downloaded V05, you'll have to change your gamemode to survival yourself. I'll be uploading a change to the default gamemode later today. Sorry for the inconvenience. I've switched gamemode so many times while testing it, I forgot that it started as a Creative map.

    The Albatross Title

    THE ALBATROSS
    Survival-Horror Adventure, Vanilla in Survival game mode, “Construct” game type.

    You are a crew member of a freighter spacecraft, “The Albatross”, but something went wrong. Your ship has crashed on a frozen planet and you’re lucky to be alive. Diagnostics show extensive damage to the hull and several vital components have torn away from the ship. You’ll need to collect materials, recover missing components, and repair the damage. Unfortunately, you don’t have much time. The fission reactors have become unstable and the containment shields are failing!

    Features

    • Repairing equipment activates special features of the ship, including teleporters, ship shields, and the experimental Gene Splicer that combines your DNA with alien embryos.
    • Expansive terrain to explore.
    • Puzzling challenges to recover lost pieces of the ship. You’ll need a strong knowledge of Minecraft. Be ready for creative solutions!
    • Strange phenomena peculiar to the planet, such as tremors and gravitational anomalies.

    Recommended Settings

    • Vanilla Minecraft version 1.10.2 (too many changes to Commands to update to 1.11+)
    • Survival Mode on Normal Difficulty
    • 1-6 players. “server.properties” file can be found in save folder.
    • Server Properties with “allow-nether=false” (or just don’t go to the Nether… it’s not intended to be part of the experience. Nor is The End, so the stronghold portals have been dismantled.)
    • Server Properties with "enable-command-block=true" (lots of command blocks in this map!)
    • Server Properties with “player-idle-timeout=6”. Since there is a time element, you don’t want idle players. Just a suggestion.

    Gamerules

    Just so you aren’t too surprised when things are working weird, these are the built-in gamerules used in this map:

    • doDaylightCycle is false (the planet is tidally locked)
    • naturalRegeneration is false (you’ll have to find other ways to heal)
    • keepInventory is true (the Albatross rescues your stuff)
    • mobGriefing is false (necessary because Endermen could make final repairs practically impossible)
