You need to generate new chunks to get the new world gen.

The problem was probably that when you use old worlds they will act as if structures had been switched off.

I did some stuff and found the stronghold, at last.

    What is the seed?
Have you downloaded the latest version of Amidst?

FYI, spawn location is only slightly random around a given point.
I believe this is so in multiplayer worlds players don't all pop up on top of each other.

Wouldn't Eye of Ender show the correct location?

I started a new world with the same seed as the original world and found the stronghold. Then I deleted a lot of chunks around the area in one of the worlds I use for searching (creative and commands). I went to the location first (the way the world had loaded was similar to the one I made with the seed) and dug down. I found nothing and tried using Eye of Ender, no result.

You're probably better off starting a new survival world then. You don't have to delete your current one, just keep it as a memory. The way seeds work is that the new 1.7.4 seen is very different then the 1.7.3 Beta seed you been playing at. Over time the seed changed and the two worlds with the same seed number is no longer the same.

Newly explored chunks will still be the same though.
My problem is that structures don't seem to spawn in my world (even though they haven't previously been explored).

    Back to topic.
I made a new world with the seed from the original world, found the coordinates for the stronghold and deleted the chunks around those coordinates in one of my searching worlds, no stronghold...

In old worlds there simply weren't any structures at all, except for dungeons. You have already found a fortress, which counts as a structure. So, as long as you explore far out enough, you will end up in newly generated chunks where there is a chance of finding mineshafts and villages.

However, strongholds are a different matter. There are only three per map and they are generated, as the wiki puts in, in a hollow circle between 640 and 1152 blocks around spawn, which is located at 0,0. This means that if you have already explored that entire area in a game version when strongholds weren't implemented, you won't be able to find them now.

Would deleting the chunks around my spawn using MC-edit work?

So I still have the second world I ever made in minecraft, and it is by far my favorite. There are some problems though, as it is from 1.7.3 (beta) finding newly added content can be quite hard. I have found carrots, potatos and watermelons, I have found a nether foretress with a blaze spawner, I have cured zombie villagers and I have a lot of them now, and I recently found some horses.

My problem is that I haven't found any villages, mineshafts or stronghold, which is the most important one.
I have tried to find one using several ways, from copying the world and searching using creative (did also try enderpearls, they ended in stone), x-ray modpacks, deleting parts of my world to get new chunks to explore.

As I haven't found any of the mentioned structures I am beginning to wonder if structure generation is turned off by default in old worlds.

    Any suggestions, solutions or answers?

If there is 1 thing I have to admit that I don't like; you make this way too fast and I can't keep up.

(Keep up the good work though)

i suggest making submarines along with the ships as another evolutinary branch

A lot of people will be against this (including me).
I feel submarines won't add anything special as we now has enchants that will enhance underwater exploring.

So I click this suggestion just to check what it is about and when I scroll a bit down I see these majestic, badass owls just flapping around.
    ^ Caught my attention

This, is a pretty good suggestion, several people want the combat system re-done and with these tameable birds it will be changed. You can't just charge with your diamond sword and armor if your opponent has several birds at his disposal, making it possible for him to target you, find a tactical spot and possibly winning the fight.

Brilliant idea in my opinion, support

Yeah, unsteady. Just to "nerf" it a bit.

yes yes, rain is completely TO NOISY, I had to turn up my skype volume cause I can hardely hear any of my friends cause its SO LOUD, and snow is annoying to have to keep shoveling up if you have stuff that you want to be able to get to.

How loud do you need your IGN sounds to be if you couldn't hear your friends. And besides; changing your skype volume is not that hard.

For the third time: change your particle effects to minimal in the video options, the rain sounds will go away.

    Quote from Ivenar

Add npc Cities that are sieged by legions of zombies in the nights, yet zombies spawn outside and it must have walls. (And a redstone gate, notch is most talented redstoner so it must not be a problem for you to make such a thing).

Let them have economy, add Knight Villagers. Allow us to pickpocked. Add bounty system , Jails , Make NPC cities have republation with other NPC cities and allow them to fight sometimes with other cities, Allow us to become a member of a city. Make other cities trade with each other for minerals , make every city to be superior in one fact (Like fishing, farming , mining). Make NPC villages connect to NPC cities. Improve NPC trading.

    And a minor suggestion that would be cool yet i dont think it will happen ;
Make regenarating mines so we can stick in one place and have fun fighting with other Humans instead of travelling from place to place. (We also would, if you make diffrent biomes being rich in a mineral kind, forcing us to travel yet not forcing us to move DIFFRENT places. We could make maps of biomes, we could make our own world. )

    1. Overcomplicated and Notch doesn't create Minecraft anymore
    2. Wishlist and pretty much taken from Millenaire
    3. Overpowered (remember where you found diamond ore, re-mine, wait and repeat.

As I said: turn your particle effect to minimal, the sound will go (almost) completely away and particle effects are not needed for anything anyways (I don't need them)
