    Quote from Nigel xD

This seems like a giant waste of time when I can just build a tower of gravel, knock out the bottom one, place a torch right there, and have it shoot out flint instead.

If a gravel falls into non solid-block it will turn into gravel and will NEVER turn into flint.
    ---
Why dont you make a gravel pillar then after you run out of gravel, try digging straight down to the gravel.
Repeat until all of them turn into flint.

But for vanilla I dont really care if it implemented or not.
    Stay tuning*
And zombie pigmen had red blood when first implemented, but then notch change it to green because he want Minecraft to be red blood free,or gore free, something like that.

Soloman212 posted a message on Rules of Islam and Other Religions in Minecraft [PIC HEAVY]
BEFORE YOU READ: No, I don't actually think I have to follow the rules of Islam in games, I just do it for fun, and as a little extra element to the game. I do in fact enjoy it, and I don't believe it makes a difference in my faith. It's just a little extra roll playing I feel like doing.

(Note: Sorry I didn't put spoiler tags on the images, but that screws up the resizing, which really annoys me. So just let it load out, and you should be fine. If it gets too picture heavy, just leave a comment that says so and I'll consider putting the tags to help you all out.)

Well firstly, I've been playing Minecraft for quite a while now, and I just now noticed I was subconsciously thinking this entire process out. You see, I'm a Muslim, and whenever I've played games, I've always for some reason followed the rules of Islam as best I could. This might be because I'm just wired to do so, or maybe it's because I want to see if it would somehow help me in the game, showing how good Islamic laws really are. As an example, when playing fallout 3, I never picked up pork and beans, nor did I drink alcohol or do drugs. Contrast that with my older brother, who walked around jacked up on mentats and whiskey...
So of course, a game like Minecraft gets really complex. The first thing I did when I got the game was avoid killing pigs at all costs. :Diamond: Here's the rules of Islam concerning them:
      1. I can't eat pork (duh).
      2. I can't give or sell pork to people (So I can't get rid of it that way...)
      3. I can't throw away food in general (Hey! This adds another obstacle... )
So with these rules, what do I do with the stuff?! Well usually I just avoid killing pigs, and instead started wheat farms and fishing areas in all of my Saves. But what if they're stuck in my house, or if someone else does and I pick up the pork? In the latter case, I guess if I gave it back right away it would be like picking it up and handing it to them, and not like taking possession and then giving it to them, so I don't take part in the transaction. In the first example, however, (or if I stumble upon it laying on the floor...) I would be stuck with it! You may be thinking I would just have to make a giant chest room for pork, and you would be right. However, it wouldn't be there forever! There is still this rule:
      4. I can eat pork if I need to in order to survive, and there is no other food.
Yay! This means that if my hunger bar is so low that I'm losing health and I have no other food on hand, I can eat pork! So that (somewhat) solves that problem. Although now that I can eat other animals, that's not very likely to happen.

    And another thing!
      5. I can't knowingly do anything that will directly harm me.
Now that raw food can give you food poisoning, I have to be sure to cook the food before I eat it, unless I'm "starving" like in the above scenario, and don't have a furnace handy. This also means that I can't eat rotten zombie flesh, (excluding the above-mentioned scenario), especially because it's basically eating human flesh, which is against Islam anyways.

[EDIT]: Due to the fact that wolves exist, I can just feed my excess pork to those guys, and that's that. :Notch:

Also: It's looked down upon in Islam to have dogs as pets (since they're unsanitary) unless they're useful (ex: you're a shepherd, they're guard dogs, they're seeing dogs, et cetera) and the wolves are basically hunting/guard dogs and help you out a LOT, so they're ok.

On to the next discussion: Prayer.
You may be thinking, "Ok this is going way to far," but I dunno, I just had to bring it up. Well here is the first tier of rules about prayer:

    1. I have to pray 5 times a day. (Duh)
    2. Prayer is based on the sun, not on time, so I have to divide the day and find the according times.
    3. If I am traveling or ill, I am not obliged to pray. (Traveling = not within view of my home with render distance on far, ill = missing more than half my health, for my purposes)
    4. I have to pray towards the Kaaba (I don't know where it is, if there is one in this dimension!!!)
    5. I can pray on dirt, grass, sand, or anything natural, along with carpeting.

Well I guess prayer here would be to just make a small Duah, as I can't be bothered to carry out a full prayer (I'm not that crazy...) and I can do it anywhere, as the world of Minecraft is dirt :soil: :sand: :stone: :Logs^: :grass: :gravel: and natural stuffs, although on a server I once played on I actually did make a Mosque with carpeting, which would be considered wool or actual carpets, which have recently been added. However, if I am hurt or not near my house when the time of prayer is, I either do the shortened prayer or none at all, respectively. Now going to the concern of the location of the Kaaba... As I am assuming this is a completely different world I would guess there is no Kaaba. However, the Kaaba is the location of prayer not because the actual building has anything important, but because it is the center of the universe, and is the bride between heaven and Earth. With that logic, the place that best fits that definition would be the spawn. (It's where I appear: Heaven --> Earth, and if you go far in any direction the world begins to fall apart: It's the center of it.) This is actually really handy, due to the fact that the compasses point to it!!! :Diamond: So all I have to do is make a compass, and viola! I know where to pray. But of course there is the question: What if I don't have the ability to make a compass at the time? Then of course I just pray any direction, just like in the real world. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.) Also, as suggested by people, I'll probably make a sort of room with a holed ceiling in order to accurately measure the times of prayer, and will also carry around a bit of colored cloth for a makeshift prayer rug when on the go.

As a note to this section: I currently have both a Kaaba on my spawn and a room for telling the prayer times. Pictures of both can be found in the Gallery at the end of this post.

On to the next discussion: Jihad.
I'll just add this quick section: Jihad is basically fighting for ones religion, wether it be in argument, or war, and I guess I am in a way constantly doing that. I am also fulfilling my duty of spreading the word of Islam, such as right now, or when I build mosques and whatnot on online servers. Also, due to the fact that creepers :SSSS: may possibly destroy some of the religious buildings I have, it is also my duty to protect such buildings. (Griefers too. :Notch: ) As an added point with the 1.8 update, Enderman can now pull apart my buildings, including mosques (OH THE HORROR! :Notch: ) so I have to be sure to keep an eye on them too. (Pun not intended.) Also, this might just be a coincidence, but in my experience deserts tend to be full of Endermen at night, while other biomes not so much, and I like to build in deserts, so OH CRAP.

On to the next discussion: Punishment of Law.
Everyone always talks about the strict punishments Islam has on laws, such as stoning to death :Coal: -> :Notch: . However, I am not entitle to do such things to people, as you actually have to be a judge or judiciary official to be able to carry out and hand out such punishments. However, with this logic, if I were to be made an Admin of a server, I would be entitled to punish griefers accordingly (Of course by the rules of the server, as stoning has no actual effect in minecraft...). Also, if they were destroying my property, and PvP was on, I would also be entitled to attack them. (This is dipping into Jihad, see above topic).

On to the next discussion: Calendars, Holidays, and Fasting
As all of you that have been here before: the Sun and Moon don't have phases and don't change position (Anti-respectively) so I have no way of calculating the time of year. However I have been thinking about setting it up so that the first time I create a world is the beggining of the year and just keeping track from there. This is now very likely to happen as I accidentally deleted my world while adding some mods :Notch: , so I'll be starting again anyways. If so I'll keep you guys posted on what time of month it is :Notch: I minimized the previous part as it is now irrelephant due to the fact I have a day/time counter mod! :Notch: (Unfortunately it was broken with the update... :Skeleton: But it was quite simple so I'm sure I'll have it again soon!) I'll soon post a lunar calendar here based on the days, so that I can tell what time of the lunar calendar it is by the day count. Maybe if I can get someone to mod it for me I can even make it so it displays the lunar calendar date along with the day count!!! (It'll use a simple calculator to convert day count to calendar day.)

Oh and the poll results were:
Keep in-game date with only gaming time: 49
Keep in-game date with total time: 5
    Break fourth wall: 30

So keeping in-game date with only gaming time wins! And so I'll make a post when it's Ramadan or Hajj. :Notch:

And I guess I'll put Hajj under this section as it's still concerning the calendar: I will also make Hajj every year when it's the time of the pilgrimage. I'll go more into detail (possibly with vids or pics) when I do it for the first time.

On to the next discussion: Witchcraft, Magic, and Brewery
By some, enchanting weapons and brewing potions may be seen as witchcraft, which is a mortal sin in Islam.
In fact, the Nether and pigmen have a lot in common with the alternate dimension of Jin. (Mini lesson: in Islam, it is believed that Jin, another sentient race made of :VV: fire :VV: , were also created by Allah, and reside in a parallel universe that resides besides ours, and are also being tested by Allah. In that regard, there are both good and bad Jin, the same way there are both good and bad humans.) The Nether is in a way parallel to the real Minecraft world, when you think of the way movement between the two works. Also, it is mainly composed of :VV: lava and fire :VV: . Finally, pigmen :Pig: are identical in shape to the player :Notch: , and can be both passive and aggressive. So if thought of this way, going into the Nether should not be allowed. (Mini lesson: in Islam, it is believed that communicating with Jin is possible, and doing so is the sin of witchcraft.) However, the Nether is really fun in my opinion, so I might just ignore this. :Pig:
The same just about goes for enchanting (magic!) and brewing (potions!). Both are very interesting additions to the game, so I'd hate to disregard them. Also, brewing can be used to make instant health potions, which is basically the same as medicine. And in Islam, it is believed that if you are sick or ill, you can't just rely on God to make you better. You have to follow the advice of doctors and take medicine, basically do everything in your power to get better. So health potions are a good thing.

So far that is all I actually considered. Any more suggestions or whatnot?

Note: Anything in this shade of blue is an opinion from me about Islam and not stated as a fact for everything.

Jellomob posted a message on All dem Dimensions! Updated with another anouncement!

Everyone wants to have their own little dimension in Minecraft, whether it be the Hayther, the Bayther, or the Fee Fy Fo Faither, but most have no purpose for going there, other than the fact that "it would be really cool" or they post a bunch of random ideas that would not blend with vanilla in the slightest.

We need to have some order to things, a way to make implementing new dimensions into Minecraft worth it, and keep the overall MC feel...

And so, this is where the discussion begins...

Let’s start out with a few goals for this thread

    - Find dimensions that fit with vanilla MC, dimensions that will contribute to the game and improve it rather than hinder it.

*We don't want anything ridiculous like a dimension made entirely of diamond, or a dimension that obviously doesn't fit Minecraft.

    - Establish an order to the dimensions (in order to get to dimension A, I need to go to dimension B to get item X first, Etc.)

*All the main dimensions, with the exception of The End will be accessible from the overworld, meaning you can go to them and defeat their bosses in any order you please.

    - Figure out a name for a freaking Water Dimension

    *Some suggested names include:

    - The Kyther
    - The Deep
    - Amphibia
    - The Abyss
    - The Hydroplex

    - Improve upon current dimensions (mostly the Nether)

*Some things to think about improving

    - More variety of blocks in the nether, not just netherrack
    - More content in Ocean biomes
    - BRING BACK THE BEACHES JEB IMPROVE THE BEACHES JEB
    - Biome transitions (still need a little work)
    - Nether biomes
    - More generated structures in the overworld and nether
    - Expanding The End to a full, Main dimension
    - Making the nether player habitable (If players were to start out in the nether, they would be able to survive/thrive)

    - Establish more detailed "daughter" threads about each dimension

    * Each thread contains the items, mobs, and other stuff related to that dimension

    * Each thread is "interlocked" with each-other, containing links to all the other threads

    * Continuity is important, remember the agreed "Order of dimensions" and base your suggestions on that.

    * "Thread Admins" will monitor and manage the threads. More on this in the Dimensions Section of this thread

    * "Thread Mods" will help organize and direct information. More on this in the Dimensions Section of this thread

    - Create bosses for each dimension, including current ones

*Bosses must be challenging, but not insanely difficult.

*Bosses should be unique, every boss can't be a dragon

*See the Dimensions Bosses Section of this thread for more details

    GENERAL DIMENSION INFORMATION

This is where all of the generalized ideas and information goes, stuff that applies to all dimensions not just one particular one.

    PORTALS~

All dimensions have to have a portal. Like Nether portals and End portals, these portals link two areas of space together. While inter-dimensional travel is quite complicated, I'll spare you the details.

Though all portals are meant to do the same thing, serve as transportation to a dimension, there are actually 3 different types of portals, each with distinct features to them.

Below, I have made it simple by classifying the different types.

    TYPES OF PORTALS

There are 3 types of portals, "Static" (S portal), "Dynamic" (D portal), and "Semi-Static"(SS portal) portals.

    STATIC PORTALS

Static portals are portals that are generated by the game in a certain place. Static portals CANNOT be moved OR be created by the player, requiring them to be found before there able to be used.

    - Portals to boss dimensions are all of this type
    - This kind of portal may not need to be activated by the player

    End portals are Static

    DYNAMIC PORTALS

Dynamic portals are portals that are created by the player with blocks. Unlike static portals, Dynamic portals can be made anywhere, and can be moved whenever you want.

    - Requires that the player have certain materials
    - Usually has to be activated by the player
    - May not work in some dimensions (IE, boss dimensions)

    Nether portals are Dynamic

    SEMI-STATIC PORTALS

Semi-static portals are basically a hybrid of both Static and Dynamic portals. Semi-static portals come in 2 types.

Type 1: A type 1 SS portal is generated by the just like a Static portal, and also like a static portal, the player must find the portal in the world. But unlike a Static portal, once found, a type 1 SS can be mined and moved elsewhere.

    - Usually found active, however, the player must reactivate the portal if they decide to move it

Type 2: A type 2 SS portal must be created by the player just like a Dynamic portal and can be moved by the player at whim. Unlike a Dynamic portal, however, it only works in specific places.

    - Only works in specific places. Monuments, temples, shrines, whatever
    - Requires the player to have certain materials to create it.
    - Player activated

There are currently no portals in Minecraft that are of this type.

    DIMENSION TYPES

Dimensions come in many different shapes and sizes, but they all can be classified into three groups, "Main" dimensions, "Side" dimensions, and "Boss" dimensions

    MAIN DIMENSIONS

Main dimensions are dimensions that contain most of the content in Minecraft. They contain important items, and the portals to the Main boss dimensions.

    - Contains most of the content in Minecraft
    - Contains boss portals
    - Currently there are five main dimensions
    *The Overworld
    *The Nether
*The Skylands/Sky dimension etc. (has not been implemented yet)
*The Unnamed Water dimension (has not been implemented yet)
*The End (not as it is now, The End will become its own dimension with its own boss dimension. The Overworld will get a new boss and boss dimension)

    - Dynamic portals are used to access these dimensions

    BOSS DIMENSIONS

Boss dimensions contain bosses of course. They are made specifically for the boss they house, and usually don't have many dimension exclusive items other than what the dimension is made of.

    - Always accessed via a Static Portal
    - Contains bosses
    - Limited in size
    - Low content, mostly just for the boss fight
    - Boss must be fought to leave
    - Dynamic and type 1 SS portals do not work in these dimensions.

    SIDE DIMENSIONS

Side dimensions are dimensions that are purely optional to go too. They contain minor bonus content and treasures that aren't needed to beat the game.

    - Purely optional
    - Usually require some sort of special way to access the dimension, unique for each side dimension
    - Can contain mini bosses that spawn in specific areas in the world
    - May contain Boss portals to optional bosses

    DIMENSIONAL ORDER

After a lot of discussion, we have decided to have the dimensions be in sort of a tree-like system. All of the Main dimensions, with the exception of The End, will be accessible from the Overworld.

There will obviously be different ways and different things you need to do to access them (Ex. you need diamonds to get obsidian for a nether portal)

As you can see, you still need to beat all of the other bosses before accessing The End, but you can fight them in any order you please.

Also, there are side dimensions that branch off from the main dimensions, which can only be accessed from that particular dimension. The side dimensions will probably relate to their main dimension in some way.

    Dimension Bosses

    - The main dimensions will all have bosses

    - To get to The End, all of the other Main Dimensions' bosses must be defeated.

    - It is likely that there will be other "side dimensions" that will either not have bosses, or have optional Bosses and/or "Mini-bosses"

The Official boss suggestion form! Made by Rabidbadger! tweaked by Jellomob!

Each dimension's boss should have some very distinctive qualities that make them unlike the bosses of other dimensions. There are several variable qualities that can be made as separate as possible to make the bosses unique.

    Appearance

How the boss looks, what it is. They should NOT be dragons, as we already have a boss dragon. They should probably also not be re-skinned, overpowered versions of existing mobs. The point of a boss is that it is very special, and as such, unique.

    How to reach

Where is the boss found? How does the fight initiate? E.g. End Portal.

    Arena

What does the area you fight the boss in look like? What parts of the environment could you or the boss use to your advantages? E.g. The End.

    Movement type

Flying, swimming, walking, etc. Basically, whether the boss is air, water or land based. E.g. flight for the Enderdragon.

    Method of attack

Whether it be firing projectiles at you, spawning mobs to drop on your head or just plain melee assault. E.g. flying into you, coupled with the threat posed by a large amount of Endermen for the Enderdragon.

    Effects on landscape

How does this boss change the landscape around it? What can it do to certain blocks or things to give it an advantage? E.g. Enderdragon block destruction.

    Vulnerabilities/defeating

The way in which you have to fight and ultimately slay the boss, something other than plain brutalizing. E.g. having to shoot the regeneration crystals to break them before you can think of slaying the Enderdragon.

    Death/death animation

The aesthetic effects of defeating the boss, and what happens after it dies? Does the boss split into two smaller, weaker entities on death, or such a thing? E.g. Enderdragon dissolving in a ball of purple energy.

    Drops

What will the boss drop? What unique use will it have? Obviously it has to be something very special, or there is no point in slaying the boss. Of course, one drop could be used to access the next dimension, as well as a second one. E.g. Dragon Egg. Whatever that will eventually be used for...

    - Bosses should be found in their own dimension, not in the main dimension. This allows for the boss's environment to be created specifically for the boss and boss fight, without the fear of altering the main dimensions dramatically to suit the boss

    - Assuming that we have one major boss per dimension, Overworld should have a ground-based mob, Nether should have an amphibious/lava-based mob, [Genericwaterdimension] should have an aquatic mob, Aether/Skyland should have a flying boss, as should The End. Not, of course, mentioning any other dimensions that we could have, but five seems a nice round number for now.

    tl;dr:
Bosses should all be unique. A base set of variables can be used to think of ways to make them very different. All the bosses should be beaten to access the final dimension.
    Et Cetera.

    EYES AND PEARLS

Stuck in a different dimension? Can't find that boss portal? Don't worry, we have that covered!

    Pearls

Traveling through different dimensions can be difficult, so sometimes you just need a way to get back home.

For that, we have pearls. Pearls, when used in there native dimension do nothing, but when you are in a different dimension, they will act as an abort button, sending you to your spawn point in that dimension. Pearls only have one use, and cause a bit of damage when you use them, so be careful.

Pearls are crafted with an ender pearl, and materials exclusive to their dimension, so you would have to have visited that dimension to be able to make its pearl.

An example of how fire pearl might be crafted.
    .

For now, there should be at least 4 pearls, one for each Main Dimension, we will talk side dimensions later ;)

Fire pearl: More legit crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

    Crafting concepts
    concept 1:

Water pearl: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

Sky pearl: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

Earth pearl: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

    EYES

All of the main dimensions have boss portals, and you can't just wander around the dimension aimlessly trying to find them.

That's why we have Eyes. (not the ones you see with, the ones that lead you to dimension portals silly :P )

Eyes, like pearls, are crafted using an enderpearl, and materials found exclusively in that dimension. Unlike pearls however, they have unlimited uses.

Nether eye: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

WD eye: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

Skylands eye: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

overworld eye: Crafting concepts needed! Sprite concepts needed!

    Possible crafting and sprite
Thanks to auquamarine518 for the sprite!

Eyes lead you to a dimensions boss portal. The current system is rather lacking, it is quite annoying using Eyes of Ender to locate strongholds, and this system of them flying into the air and falling down will be a pain in the nether with all those lava lakes.

So I came up with a possibly better alternative. You place the Eye on the top of a block, it floats up into the air slightly, emits a trail of particles in the direction of the stronghold, then floats back down to be collected easily.

The art is crappy, but the concept is there! :P

Would like some feedback on this.

    New gameplay mechanic ideas~

    Quote from Rabidbadger

New gameplay options should be forthcoming with each dimension.

*The nether allows you to obtain blaze rods to make a brewing strand, other dimensions should have some sort of new gameplay mechanic implemented with them as well.

    - Utility block upgrades

*Gathering certain materials and crafting them with a utility block like a furnace will upgrade it!
*This "level 2" furnace is more efficient (smelts more blocks on one piece of coal, wood etc.), and smelts faster than a normal furnace!

    - Necromancy

*Resurrect mobs from the dead to serve you!
    *Re-Fight Defeated bosses!

    SPECIFIC DIMENSION INFORMATION

This is where all the proposed ideas go for now, later on, once these ideas are polished enough, the "Daughter threads" will be made and users will be put in charge of them.

Once we have all the threads running, it will be just like a mini-forum if you will.

All the threads would be interconnected via links, and this thread will become the generalized dimension thread, where the information and ideas that apply to all dimensions goes.

There will be a brief description and some pictures for each dimension, and a link to that dimension's thread.

I can't manage 5 threads at once, so "Thread Admins" and "Thread Mods" will be necessary. I will check on the other threads every once in a while to make sure everything is in order of course.

"Thread Admins" are basically the people put in charge of making/managing the threads. They also will act as "Thread Mods" as well.

"Thread Mods" are the people who will organize information and ideas, and direct users to the proper thread if necessary

(Ex. If a user posts an idea in the Nether thread that might work better in the Skylands thread, a "Thread Mod" will direct the user to the Skylands thread.)

I would also like to make sure everyone knows, THESE IDEAS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE, THEY ARE NOT 100% FINAL. WE ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS AS WELL AS POSSIBLE BETTER ALTERNATIVES TO THINGS.

    DIMENSIONS

    MAIN DIMENSIONS

The "Main Dimensions" of Minecraft, they contain most of the content in the game.

    WATER DIMENSION(Still needs a name!)

The Water dimension is just that, dimension of water, Characterized by a vast ocean hidden underneath a thin crust. This "crust" is covered by a dense jungle and is littered with enormous holes that lead to the world of water below.

When you spawn in the Water Dimension, you will always spawn on the crust.

This is to prevent players from spawning in the ocean and insta-drowning, and it also supplies the necessary materials to create a tier 1 diving suit.

    LAYERS AND LAYERS OF FLAVOR

The Water dimension has several layers, each with their own features.

    The Crust

The crust is the thinnest layer in the Water Dimension, It is covered completely by a dense jungle.

This jungle is the only source of wood in the WD, and it contains many different tropical flowers that can be crafted into new dye colors.

The crust contains the materials needed to craft a tier 1 diving suit, allowing players to start diving without having to make a suit before entering the dimension.

    Upper Ocean: Sunlit Zone

The Upper ocean is the layer closest to the crust, It is most populated by passive and neutral mobs such as fish and sea turtles.

This layer receives the most light from the surface and contains such structures as coral reefs, and cave systems that connect to the surface.

The materials needed to make a tier 2 suit are found here.

    Middle Ocean:

This layer receives less light than the upper ocean, and has more hostile and neutral mobs.

The water dimension's dungeon equivalents generate here, as well as the materials to make a tier 3 diving suit

Bio-luminescent creatures start to spawn here

    Lower Ocean: Midnight Zone

The lower ocean receives no light at all, and hostile mobs are abundant. The Water dimension's stronghold equivalents, underwater ruins, generate here. Since it is quite dark here, many bio-luminescent mobs spawn here.

Underwater vents create bubbles that can refill your diving suits air meter.

    Ocean bottom: The Deep

Deep oceanic trenches generate here. The materials to craft an "Eye of Drowned" are here, though we haven't figured out what yet.

    Proposed items

    * Red text indicates possible problems with the idea that need to be worked out.

    * Orange text indicates that the idea may need to be fleshed out a bit more.

    * Blue text indicates that we need concept art for the idea.

    * Purple text means the idea may be dropped, usually for a better alternative, or because it did not work out as expected.

    * Green text is just additional comments.

    Bubbles:

Consumable air refills. These refill one air bubble on the default oxygen meter, and 15 seconds in a diving suit. Right click while holding a bubble and you will consume it like food! Preferably without the NOMNOMNOM sound effect.

They are dropped by most mobs in the WD, so stock up on them!

They are used in crafting Big bubbles and Bubble torches as well.

*"Eating" a bubble should not last as long as it would to eat food, since it only restores 15 seconds in a suit, and those seconds count!

    Big bubbles:

Consumable air refills. Crafted with 4 bubbles. They refill 4 bubbles on the default meter, and 1 minute in a suit.

Some bigger mobs will drop these naturally as well.

They are used to craft Bubble blocks.

    Bubble blocks:

Crafted with 4 Big Bubbles. Basically a place-able an air block.

It also acts as a bubble storage block, as it can be crafted back into 4 big bubbles

*We need to work out the physics on this. You can't place one in the middle of the ocean.

    Glow goo:

Dropped by the glowing jellyfish in the WD, used to make glow torches!

*Requires that you kill adorable jellyfish :(
    *Needs more uses! Suggest some!

    Waterproof torches:

    Variation 1: Bubble torches

Crafted With a torch and a bubble, creates a torch with a bubble of air around it. This is for the people who don't necessarily want to murder the cute jellyfish for their glow goop. ;)

    Variation 2: Glow Torches

Crafted with a stick and glow goop from Jellyfish mobs, basically a torch but it has goop where the fire is supposed to be.

*Currently, when you place a torch in water (other than it being removed almost instantly) it creates a pocket of air. This is likely because the space around the torch is air by default.

We obviously cannot have this with our underwater torches, as it would be exploited by players to obtain oxygen, and it would be really ugly too.

A possible quick fix for this, would be to have the area around the UW torches to be water by default. This of course, would mean that UW torches could not be placed in air, and they would be auto-removed like normal torches in water if you try to do so.

    Seaweed

Seaweed is found naturally in the "kelp forest" biome of the water dimension, (more on dimension biomes later)

Seaweed is similar to sugarcane in the fact that it grows vertically gradually over time.

Seaweed can only be placed underwater, it will grow up to 3 blocks tall, but only if there is at least two blocks of water above it.

Seaweed can be crafted with raw fish to make sushi!

    * We need a sprite concept for this, the generic green seaweed should work

    * We need an in-game concept of this. I would suggest re-texturing Iron bars, since they can be placed underwater.

    Sushi

Crafted with seaweed and raw fish.

    * How much hunger is restore has not been decided.

    * How many are made per craft has not been decided.

    * We need a sprite concept for this

    * I will add crafting concepts after we have a sprite for both sushi, and seaweed.

    Skylands

Coming soon to an OP near you!

    Nether

To be added in the near future!

    Overworld

Updating at a later point in time!

    THE "New" END

The End as it is now, is a boss dimension. You go there through a stronghold portal, fight the Enderdragon, and the game ends. That's it.

But all that is going to change. As of now, The End will be a full-fledged "Main Dimension"!

What about the Enderdragon you ask? Don't worry, we have it all covered.

The Enderdragon will get a new boss dimension within "The New End" and stronghold portals will instead go to the Overworld's boss dimension.

    SIDE DIMENSIONS

    None yet!

We should focus on the Main dimensions first, for now this is just a placeholder.

This is my story there. I play it with Treecapitator, Mo' Creatures and Last Days.
    Here I start my Diary....
    Day 1:
The forest smells really bad, like a dangerous mist... A villager told me that the next day the bombs will fall.
I started with some wood, and barely made me a bed, furnance and a table and blocked the entrance in the cave. Nothing could enter now. I explored the cave and found some coal, and some iron for a Drill(Last days Pick). And then, the night came. Slept when the bombs felt, and a big 'quake shook up the cave, blocking the main path inside with gravel, enclosing the cave just with my shelter left un-graveled.

This takes away from the adventure and mystery of Minecraft..You can't just choose what biome to spawn in. You're suppose to search for the right one for you, and once you find it you feel a sense of relief and joy.

    This would destroy that.

TheBlueRocky posted a message on The Summoning Table
NOTE: This below paragraph is unnecessary. You can just skip over it if you want.

If you may remember, I had made a thread called The Summoning Table, and Jellomob was very frustrated about it, since both suggestions were similar here and there (although just coincidence). We eventually made peace, and the topic continued it's ways. Though, soon after a generous modder began to develop a mod of it, someone decided to create an account, "Jelomob". I'm not sure what happened, but I believe (I might be wrong) I was accused of making that account. Soon enough, The Summoning Table was gone. I searched for it manually and with the search bar. I looked under my content. Nope, it was gone.

^ I concluded that I would create a new The Summoning Table thread, but it would be much different from Jellomob's Necromancy thread. Here it is:

    The Summoning Table

Crafted with only an Eye of Ender and six Nether Brick blocks, is the Summoning Table. It appears to be a slab the size of the Enchantment Table, though it's made from Nether Brick. There is a hovering Eye of Ender above it. It gives off eerie reddish-black particles. Since the Eye of Ender is only a sprite, it will always be staring at you, no matter where you go to hide...

Once you place down your Summoning Table, you can begin by right-clicking on it to bring up an unfamiliar GUI interface.

    Woah...how does this work?

    ---------------------------------

The strange symbol above the inventory slot with the egg picture is the Summoning Power of the table. It starts out empty, but you can power it with Ghast Tears.

Each Ghast Tear will slightly fill the Summoning Power. Though, the Summoning Power will slowly drain. You must keep an eye on the Summoning Table just in case it runs out.

How do I summon a mob? Can I summon snow golems?

No, you cannot summon snow golems, enderdragons, giants, or spider jockeys. How do you summon? Well,

When a mob comes within close range of the Summoning Table, the Eye of Ender hovering above the table will stare at the first mob it sees until the mob leaves range. Now, you must have full summoning power, and the Eye of Ender must be staring at the mob long enough, respective to the mob's species. If either mob leaves range, or the summoning power drops below full, the whole staring process must be restarted. This can be very time-consuming, and requires great skill.

    What am I summoning?

You are summoning a Spawn Egg; the spotted eggs you can use in Creative mode. Once the summoning "ritual" is complete, you should see something like this:

In this example, the player summoned a zombie by having the mob that the Eye of Ender stared at be a zombie. Of course, you can summon all the other spawn eggs.

What do I do with my Spawn Egg?

Well, what do you do with it in Creative mode? Do you spawn Creepers and Skeletons at night to get records? Do you put them in dispensers to protect your house? Do you spawn sheep to shear them? It's whatever you desire.

biohazard0967 posted a message on Should there be Seasons in minecraft?
Why do we have Weather but still no Seasons the point of this thread is...

There should be Seasons for every biome in the winter biomes it should stay winter but there should be heat waves sort of so when you walk during this heat wave there will be patches of snow and patches of regular land then the weather will fill the patches of land back in...

For the regular biomes there should not be heat waves but should still be winter time like 30 minecraft winter days and 30 regular minecraft days then the suns heat will melt down the snow until there is no snow then there should also be fall where a little bit of leaves will fall of the tree but i still do not know what will happen to still make it look good.

That's my current ideas but this should be added to vanilla minecraft.

    What do you think?

    Quote from LeGentlecreeperman

Maybe what you mean is a new game mode other than Default or Super-flat; Seasonings.
So in that game we are in 1 random biome, it will change biomes after time to time. Like when Fall it became autumn, or Wet became mushroomy biome, or even super dry season that the biome became dessert and also a stormy season where the biome became swampy.

TheBlueRocky posted a message on Cave Paintings
    Cave Paintings

The number one thing that Minecraft lacks are instructions. It's quite obvious that Mojang doesn't plan to add "Instructions" to the title screen, or when you start up the game. Neither will it give you crafting recipes.

What if you had to interpret the game by mining in a game called Minecraft?

    Wait, what? Slow down.

    -----------------------------

On a simple mining trip, you come across a dark cave. As you place torches along the walls, it gets brighter, revealing ores in the walls of the cave. Suddenly, one of your torches doesn't reveal any ores, but very crude stone drawings, Cave Paintings.

A Cave Painting is technically a stone block with a damage value. One side other than the top or bottom of the stone block will have a Cave Painting respective to the damage value. This is the side that you see in the cave. Destroying a Cave Painting Stone Block will drop Cobblestone and respective dyes.

Cave Paintings indirectly teach you how to play Minecraft. For example, deep in the Earth, you find a Cave Painting of a Nether Portal, next to a Cave Painting of Flint and Steel, and a painting of a Ghast. If the player thinks, "Hey, I've seen that block before! That's obsidian. I have some in my house. I should try and build that. Hmmm...that also looks like flint." That same player will build a Nether Portal. If you know what a Flint & Steel is IRL, you will know to craft that with an iron ingot. Since the Cave Paintings were next to each other, the player will probably light the Portal Frame on fire. Bam! It lights up. The player goes in, then meets a Ghast.

Some cave paintings don't correspond with other Cave Paintings. For example, a cave painting of an enchantment table surrounded by crude wood bookshelves does not match up with other Cave Paintings.

Most of the common Cave Paintings don't have any purpose whatsoever, such as a Creepers, or a flock of sheep. Most of these depict animals or monsters.

The further down you go, the more complex Cave Paintings you find. The Nether Portal Cave Painting won't appear in surface caves, and a Cave Painting of a flock of sheep won't appear by a pool of lava, I'm afraid.

    -----------------------------

    What Cave Paintings are there?

This list of Cave Paintings is not complete. If you have an idea for a Cave Painting, please share!

    Sheep
    Where: Exposed Surface Caves

    Ghast
Where: Cavern Walls by Spawner Dungeons
A picture of a Ghast shooting a fireball engulfed in fire.
    Dye Drops:
    0-1

    -----------------------------

Why should Mojang add this to Minecraft?

This is the end of the post, so I'm tired, and I've decided to list the reasons.

    - Teaches players what there is in the game and an idea how to craft it.
    - Makes it easier to find dyes.
    - Adds aesthetics; your first Creeper cave painting might "creep" you out. *bad pun*
    - Cocoa Beans are no longer rare.
    - A new achievement: "Bad Critic" - Destroy a Cave Painting.

I can't say I remember Notch saying that their ideas were 100% unique before...

Although, that raises an interesting question. If a modder has their work put into the official game - whether or not it's with their blessing - shouldn't they be glad that something they created actually made it into a live game?
