    Yeah, but 'genusist' just doesn't have the same ring.

    I realize this was a long time ago and I should just let it die, but I have made a horrible (HORRIBLE!) mistake. Cats aren't a genus. They are a family, Felidae, in the order Carnivora, and containing genera such as Felis (housecats) and Panthera (lions, ect.).

    But wouldn't that be a problem? I will need hundreds of these (a Venator-class Star Destroyer carries over 400 fighters). This is where NPC behavior is going to be necessary.

    Is there a place on the Futurecraft forum for things that will be in the mod, not just random people's ideas?

    And it's completely different from the Zeppelin mod in how it works and what features it encompasses (which will be quite a bit more than just flying ships).

    OK. Would I be able to put Flan's AA guns on one of these ships? Just until I can have plasma cannons.

    This mod... Words cannot describe it. I really hope it gets downloadable soon. As soon as I saw it I had this vision of huge battlecruisers (mine) flattening fortifications (yours). The only thing I see that worries me is the bit in the main post about the NPCs that says they may not be important. To demonstrate the issue, let us briefly engage in a hypothetical.

    Say I was playing in SMP. I have no friends. Because of this, I become bitter and decide to destroy the entire universe. I spend weeks building dozens of cruisers, fighters, battleships, carriers, transports, and gunships. I then belatedly realize that without functional NPC crews, these ships are useless to me because I can only fly one at a time. I can't even fly and shoot at the same time because I have no-one to man the turrets and reload the accelerator cannon. End hypothetical.

    Clearly, this would be a problem. I think NPCs to fly my fighters and use my turrets will end up being an important part of this mod. Either way, it will be awesome.

    EDIT, AFTER REREADING THE POST: The robots look like a good crew alternative. I can deal with ships crewed by droids. You could even skip that and just have each individual turret/fighter/whatever be automatic, but with the option for a human to override the cybot brain and take control. It will still require good AI, though.
