Let me start off with this; I'm good with computers and I can learn what I need to but I don't know much about servers or how to do all the fancy stuff; so you will have to explain in detail exactly what I need to do thanks for your time.
Anyways today I've decided to run a minecraft server, a simple small one for me and a few friends. The idea is that I run it on my desktop that has 4g ram total to use while I go play the game on my laptop as to have even less lag. So far it hasn't worked.. maybe it was because the server was new or because I failed somewhere along the way.
Here is the desktop I was talking about, Will it be able to run a server with max 5 people on it? ( Using hamachi for now )
Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz 3.16GHz
4.00 gb ram ( 3.25 usable )
32 bit
( If you need anything else just ask )
Now I did the simple get the server program, run it and it makes the server. Tried that out and it lagged. So I made a run.bat file to increase the ram that says ( "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -jar "Minecraft_Server.exe" ) remove the (). I think it's working because it goes over the 100mb ram limit it had before.
The thing is it still lags, what else is there I can do to make lag go down?
