This happens every time I load a large schematic and lower it down several levels. on a multiplayer server I was on, the game crashed every time it was lowered to y=51-52

I tried it several times in single player and it happened at different levels, usually around 60.

the only mods I have are forge, the lunatrius core, schematica, and possibly optifine.

I think that just a little "hey, I'm alive!" every 3 days or so would work....5 minutes worth of typing text, not much more :)
Oh no! He hasn't given an I'm alive for the last few days O_o that means....

    HE'S DEAD :o

just found this and wow it looks amazing i cant wait to try it out. will this also show timings on repeaters and such?

It will, but I think theres some slight glitches. I vaguely remember that either repeaters or comparators were highlighted red (incorrect block) when they were unpowered, if they were powered when you stored the scematic.

Also, I remember occasionally with designs that had a timer, sometimes there were glitches with certain bits, like it would show the wrong state, when it was correctly powered. Nothing too major there, I just learned to ignore the orange blocks if I knew they were right.

OH you know what there should be??? A Schematica server :D Like, a creative world, where people can share their builds and cool designs :3 Just a thought XD

Well, you can build by layer, and ignore all the dirt/sand, or you could build it in singleplayer without the dirt or sand, then save that as a schematic, but I don't know if you can actually filter out certain blocks...

It won't show. You don't know the seed of the server. I don't know why that was made private to begin with...

I'll see if I can come up with something that will allow players to set their own seeds, if they happen to know them.

Ok, well fortunately I do know the seed of the server :3 Thank you so much for your awesome mods!!! :D

With the in-game info XML mod, does it tell you if youre in a slime chunk on a server? Because it isn't in my game, is there something you have to add to the XML file? because the file confuses me a little sorry :P

So, I haven't been checking any of the mods I follow because of the whole forge thing... anyways, that's besides the point. Today I decided to look back at some of my favorite mods, and when I checked the Shur'tugal mod page and saw that it had been discontinued... I was so sad XD Then I checked some of the last pages :D:D:D I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE IS PICKING IT BACK UP AGAIN!!!! This topic has almost made my day! Except I'm still really annoyed that forge hasn't updated yet... Whatever, they'll get it up and running as soon as they can :) Hopefully before the 1.8 update XD

Yea, it definitely needs a lot of research. I get why they have that in there, its more as a safeguard to protect themselves if they have someone using a rediculous amount of data and crashing their systems, and all the other stuff in their policy is also to protect themselves, I would just have to find out if they frequently abuse their users by contacting other users, like you said

I have thought a little about the costs, but I have not done enough research yet on server hosting, I will be careful about it though, and try to get the best deal, and secure a good amount before paying for it. I found one site that had hosting for $25 a month with unlimited player slots, unlimited RAM, unlimited storage, and unlimited bandwidth, and it allowed plugins and custom Jars, BUT, I read in their acceptable use policy that "HostHorde.com reserves the right to restrict, alter, or modify fees, benefits, rules, regulations, special offers, membership terms and conditions or terminate services at any time and without notice."

I'm going to keep an eye out for any of these type of catches, just to be careful. I'd have to do more research to determine if a site like this would be trustworthy not to randomly change how much I would be allowed to use. There's also a couple other catches in their acceptable use policy, like how storage used by plugins isn't unlimited (aka, if I had something like dynmap, theres a limit as to how much storage dynmap could have, while the server itself could be whatever size)

Ballistic, I appreciate your eagerness, but as of yet there is no server to be let in to.

Oh, and also Youssarian, that is an excellent article, I'll definitely keep those things in mind, if/when I do get a server running, I don't intend to allow it to just go down for lack of funds. I will be prepared.

I've googled it before, its a little complicated, but definitely doable. The sad thing is that I have a mac, and while I can still do everything a windows computer can do, the stuff that is specifically made to be easy on windows... becomes very difficult on a mac XD I would have to wait for Forge/MCPC to release a stable build for 1.7... Mojang really changed MC's coding a lot apparently D:

Wow! Thanks ducky215 :D thats a great post :P I will be 100% honest here: I was really thinking about that first idea with the airships, I love airships, and although I never got to try the Archimedes ship mod, its something that I wish I could use on a server... I actually was looking through the worldgen plugins, and I think I found some cool ones... a few sky island ones caught my eye. If I was to make this a modded server... Is there any way to have both plugins and just a few small mods? Because alot of plugins have some great tools for admins/owners and some fantastic anti griefing tools and stuff, but not much in the way of uniqueness, like you said Frog81 I'd love to have a server thats kinda like factions, but on sky islands, with airships and stuff... I feel like alot of the features I want to make a unique server are only in mods, and alot of the features I want to make a fun stable server are plugins... Is there any way to combine the two?

:3 that does sound like a fun plugin :D Thats interesting about plugins, I guess that makes sense, I'll stick with plugins over mods, because I like how you don't have to install anything to join a bukkit server :P

posted a message on Considering starting a new server at some point!
    Hello all!
I am considering making a minecraft server possibly at some point, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas that could help me start it!

I would prefer to make it a bukkit server, so if anyone knows any really cool bukkit plugins, that would be great! I love mods, but I don't know much about how plugins work comparatively. I prefer less game changing mods, but only stuff that seems like it might belong in minecraft. for example, I hate mods with guns. Not that they're bad, I actually think they are great, but they don't feel right in minecraft. Stuff that adds dimensions might be cool, if anyone knows any cool plugins that do that. (I wish the Aether II was a plugin ;P)

I don't know if I should go with a theme, like Elder Scrolls themed, or LOTR themed, or stuff like that, but if you have any specific themes that you wish were on a server, feel free to mention them to me :D I'd love to check out anything I don't yet know, and I feel like having a sort of a theme would be cool! Although, I wouldn't want to get rid of the survival aspect of minecraft, so I wouldn't reconstruct any crazy worlds, like Westeros, or Alagaesia.

    Also, if anyone has any knowledge of pricing on server hosting sites, I would really appreciate if you could share it :}

I could (and will when I have time [probably next weekend]) come up with all this on my own with a lot of research, but I'm really curious about the opinions of the Minecraft community! I would really appreciate if you leave any ideas or opinions that you have about anything server/plugin/or possible theme ideas here in the topic, so if you can,

    Thank you for your time,

    -LCSminer

P.S. I had no idea where this topic should go, so I put it here in the discussion forums. I figured its not really an official server page yet, because I haven't decided on any of the details of the server beyond "there will be a server" so it shouldn't be any subforum of the servers forum, and while i'm asking for help and support, I'm not asking for technical support, so this wouldn't go in the server support subsection. :P

posted a message on Gift cards?
Visa/Mastercard/etc. prepaid cards do work 100% because they act the same as a credit card. That being said, as long as you purchase minecraft directly from the minecraft.net site, it is safe. Over 13.5 million people have bought minecraft, and I'd hazard a guess that at least 90% of them have done it with a credit card. I might be wrong about that, maybe alot more people buy it with giftcards than I thought. Paypal is a fantastic way of buying things online, as of 2012, there were 106 million active paypal accounts, which made up 18% of internet commerce. apparently 87% of the users at that time would recommend paypal to other people. I'm sure that those statistics have risen over the last 2 years, because paypal has become much more popular. I have never had any problem with paypal, but I don't remember how to make purchases as a guest... I think you still have to make a paypal account, but you don't have to hook it up to a bank account right away. Its definitely recommended though, and a good idea if you plan on making online purchases, because paypal is a much more secure way of making online purchases than just using your credit card directly.
