How about some alternate bedspreads?
Maybe a Superman logo - or He-Man ?

Mar 9, 2011Posted in: Classic - Creative ModeQuote from PuppetKiller7 »In the end just remember it's only a word and I really don't care if one person views it one way and someone else the exact opposite because if a video is going to gain many views it either will or it won't and a title isn't going to get in the way.
Exactly my point - why not let the content stand for itself? If it really is 'amazing' it will get views. Maybe its just me, but people using superlatives to describe their own stuff just smacks of attention-***** desperation. What does it matter if your YouTube vid gets a lot of views? Is it a competition or something?
Surely you can see the difference - if I posted a link saying "look at this amazing pixel art", that is OK, it's my opinion of your work (which I like BTW), but when you say it about your own stuff it just sounds self-aggrandizing and actually makes me want to look at the video less.
Anyway, this is going seriously OT, so I'm going to shut up.
Mar 9, 2011Protip: Don't describe your own stuff as 'amazing'. That doesn't make it amazing. That is really for others to decide. By all means be proud of your creation - but self-describing it as 'amazing' or 'fantastic' or 'the best' just makes you sound boastful. The humble approach comes across far better on the internet.Posted in: Classic - Creative Mode
Try finding the Kaer Toria thread - now that is amazing. But the creator doesn't call his thread "ZOMG! THA MOST AMAZINGUST DWARF FORTRESS EVAH!!!111"

Mar 9, 2011Posted in: SuggestionsQuote from Zenofire »I'd like to Bump this idea. Vertical movement would be great, even if its as slow as swimming up a waterfall. This would also eliminate the need for Water Elevators, another glitch that will eventually be fixed and will leave alot of players, in a manner of speaking, high and dry.
Sorry for the OT but...
I hardly see how the boat elevator "glitch" can be fixed. It is just based on the physics - a wooden boat floats on water, so it rises up when submerged. Real wood does the same.
Mar 9, 2011That program sounds cool. To be honest, before I found this thread I was seriously considering writing such a utility myself, software being my job too :smile.gif:. However, you sound so far ahead of me, you'd no doubt be finished your version before I even get my head around the file format.Posted in: Discussion
But if there is anything I can do to help, just let me know.
Mar 9, 2011I think I need to call upon your genius once again - in both my modded and now in vanilla Minecraft, the world you fixed for me crashes Minecraft after a few seconds of play time. I don't get any debug output ot error messages. I wonder if there is a problem chunk somewhere that causes a crash when it loads / updates?Posted in: Discussion
I also notice that running MCEdit on World4 doesn't seem to show my world?
Thanks again for your awesome help!
There is definitely some corruption, I don't know if it is recoverable.
See this Cartograph image:
The red circles show obvious chunk errors (I think the strip to the left is all I can see in MCEdit). The blue circles show what seems to be some missing data - structures chopped off halfway through. I wonder if this is the part that is crashing?
Mar 9, 2011Posted in: DiscussionQuote from apocalypse_r »I think I fixed it. I went into the region folders and renamed them all to what they were supposed to be, and restored a backed up level.dat. Do you have any mods installed? My game crashed in a manner that would make me suspect a mod. Other than that, it seems to be fine.
Oh man you are a genius! I use the Mixcraft HD texture pack and probably had MrMessiahs BetterLight & BetterGrass and minimap installed.
Quote from apocalypse_r »I personally think you are epically lucky to have your save recovered. This is by far the furthest I have ever seen one get and still come back. If you really did delete it and all of the backups and it was totally gone, then wow. just wow. store those backups somewhere safe from now on k? thx =)
Holy crap - you are making me feel that luck! But I guess that it is also a good advert for Recuva - I'll definitiely be recommending that as my undelete tool of choice! My backup saves will be on USB, on my portable HD and maybe on my gmail account from now on!
Mar 9, 2011Posted in: SuggestionsQuote from Paradox1123 »Okay, good start. How do mob spawner's work for them exactly? If they spawn on ground, they don't really get much of their actual advantage, do they?
The mob spawner should create a Dropper colony - like bats. They huddle together in groups, in their dormant state, on suitably high cave roofs. If they were made to react to other mobs movement, as well as their own and the players, movement in a "Dropper cave" could cause it to start raining Droppers - very dangerous!
Quote from qlmmb2086 »I would direct you to the "Tunnel Mite" thread, but I still don't understand how either of these are any different from the spiders that keep waiting for me on the ceilings of my mines. Perhaps people just want a mob that does it on purpose instead of getting that behavior as a side effect of wall-climbing.
Yeah - I think of that spider behaviour more like a glitch.
Mar 8, 2011Posted in: SuggestionsQuote from Paradox1123 »Does that mean it would take no fall damage? OR will it and just possibly kill itself?
I'd like to think it would have a much higher tolerance for fall damage than normal mobs.
(Or fall damage immunity? Take that you gravity mob trappers!)
Mar 8, 2011Posted in: SuggestionsQuote from mimicimim »Oh, and how about it looks similar to a sign on the bottom of its block (but with the face) so it can be spotted, but only if you pay attention.
I think hiding in darkness would be a more 'natural' form of camouflage. Perhaps, it's drop-and-attack might also be triggered at a certain light level?
