posted a message on Anyone still crashing?
In my case "Fancy" definitely seems to be the culprit. I just played for a good hour+ on "fast" - no crashes.

I'm on Win XP, 2GB RAM with an nVidia GeForce 8600 GT.

    I'm happy :smile.gif:

I have been crashing randomly recently - i suspect it might be to do with fancy graphics. Until recently I was playing on "fast" and had no crashing problems.

I got a ****ing virus from your media fire link. Just want everyone to know that.

I think that is highly unlikely. I've downloaded every version of this pack since 19 from Mediafire....no viruses. Are you sure it was a real virus? Some malware will give you a fake virus alert and then try and sell you fake software to fix it (which is often akin to a virus itself).

I would do this, but make sure to place a door in the centre first, then on the right, then remove the centre door and put it on the left. That way you have a 'separated double door' with hinges opposite each other.

You have a good point. But i dont think people care about the stats that much.

    Quote from momoritz »
Guys, don't worry about cheating. Achievements/Stats are just for yourself (just like everything else in Minecraft). Nobody will care about world rankings, probably just individual server rankings at max.

Oh how naive you are. If anything even looks the slightest bit like a competition, people will care. Care enough to cheat their way to the top....and care enough to whine endlessly about the people who cheated their way to the top....

    Just wait and see.

Wolfs... Really? What happened to the top priorities. I want a mod API not a stupid lap dog notch is adding because of someone he idolizes.

I'm sure he is working on it. You can't just knock up an API in 5 mins you know. And let's face it - news about new content is more interesting than a tweet or blog about the progress of the API (to most people anyway).

posted a message on Is this the place for crash report texts?
Ever since the 1.3_01 update Minecraft regularly crashes on me (literally just disappears) - usually after only a few minutes play. It wasn't doing this before - I could play for several hours at a time no problem. I get the crash output file with the stack trace etc. Is this useful to anyone?

Can anyone use it to tell me what the problem is? Is it useful to Mojang? Where should I post it / send it?

    Anyone?

    Cheers!

Does anyone know what it is - usually ahppens after a few minutes of playing (vanilla) Minecraft. Often enough to be annoying, not often enough that it drives me totally crazy.

The sectors are all a fixed size, so even if the sector index is totally trashed, you can recover most (maybe even all) intact chunks by trial and error. a sector is 4kB, and the first 2 sectors are taken up by the index and the timestamp. each subsequent sector contains chunks. just attempt to read a chunk every 4kB, you'll get most of them :smile.gif:

But what I mean is, (automatically) there is no way to differenciate a sector containing (compressed) chunk data from sectors containing the chunk size and version number, if you don't know where to start (other than working right from the beginning I mean). I can see how you could reconstruct the initial index sector by inspection, provided the rest of the chunk size data is intact, but it could be mighty tedious.

But if you can get the location info from the chunk data, you could back-calculate the offset it should have, is that right?

    More techicalities...

If I understand the MCR format correctly, if the (first) offset index sector is screwed, it would be very difficult to locate the chunk bouundaries in the file?

Fault tolerance could be improved by having a marker between chunks as well as the offset index...

So, will inertia increase even if speed it maxed? That's for Ehnonimus or Glitchfinder to answer.

Yes - its how the Smart Booster works:

Do you think the MOD API will include access to chunk generation?

Like passing in the seed and chunk coords, and getting the "default" (unmodified) chunk back?

I personally don't see any official mod API being a success. It will most likely be a custom built in ModLoader.

Really? That's hardly what I 'd call an API....
