Apr 22, 2011Kyudos posted a message on [32x,16x][1.3.1] Mixcraft - SemiRealistic (v47) Emeralds and Trip Wires!Just got the latest version - great work. One issue though - the snow 'surface' texture doesn't match the 'snow side grass' texture at all. It has a different pattern and a different hue - looks quite jarring.Posted in: Resource Packs
Apr 12, 2011I know apocalypse is working on his own save recovery utility, but I've also taken the liberty of suggesting we get some official support for save file repairing:Posted in: Discussion

Let's face it - the community is likely to get something out before Mojang - but I thought the suggestion worthwhile notheless.

Perhaps 1 yellow for 20%, 2 yellow for 40%, 1 orange for 60%, 1 yellow and 1 orange for 80%, and 2 orange for 100%.
Just to make the distinction more complete, as it is now, the last few are too similar to tell a difference easily.
^This - there isn't enough difference between 60%, 80% and 100%
Mar 27, 2011In windows you can use CreateFileMapping to share a memory space between processes, but it also has the added benefit of flushing a memory mapped file to its disc equivalent when a process ends. I was wondering if Java had a similar capability? (java.nio.MappedByteBuffer perhaps?)Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
Could this then be used to reduce (or eliminate?) the disparity between the level.dat saves and the region files? Hopefully, this would mean that a crash would not wipe out (all) of your recent work, and could also get rid of the regenerating items glitch (mine a dimond, crash Java, mine the diamond again etc.)
Of course, this comes at the cost of more memory usage, but MC is such a memory hog anyway I wouldn't think a few more MB for a memory mapped region file would make much of a difference.
I don't know Java at all really, so some input from someone who does might flesh this out a bit.
Mar 25, 2011Posted in: Survival ModeQuote from siNwrath »Your an idiot. Did you even read. This has been resolved. And I don't have the room for that. Not on the scale I want to make it. I have my funnel.
I'm not an idiot, and yes I read the whole thread. In case you missed it, this is a discussion forum - where we discuss stuff. If discussion offends you so much, why are you posting here? So resolved or otherwise, I was curious. I asked a simple civil question, to which you could have given a simple civil reply - in less than the time it took to type your insulting reply.
Would it have been so hard to write:
"I have something that works for me now, but I didn't have room for that, anyway."
No insult required.
Mar 25, 2011I don't know exactly what you are aiming for - but did you try an ACTUAL funnel?Posted in: Survival Mode
By that I mean an inverted stepped-pyramid leading to a 2x2 hole in the bottom, and water sources on the top step? Or was the idea not to have water in the hole iteslf?
Mar 24, 2011Kyudos posted a message on [DESIGN CHALLENGE] unbreakable vault (now in testing!!!)I would lean toward a vault that the player never enters at all. Entering your redstone combination code would activate a minecart storage system to retrieve your storage cart and bring it to a 1x1 hole in the bedrock vault wall, where you can add / remove stuff.Posted in: Survival Mode
Have a pressure plate next to the hole which you must be standing on in order for the cart to come (add a timer to the combination lock so that you must step on the plate within a certain time after entering your code or the system resets and you have to enter the code again).

Quote from Notch »@SSLMelon hmm, yeah. We'll add an option to play limited maps where everything is in-memory Link
Mar 23, 2011Kyudos posted a message on It's probably not gospel (yet), but interesting...Gah! I f'ed up this post...see below.Posted in: Survival Mode
How limited could you still have everything in memory do you think?
Adventure mode worlds?

Mar 22, 2011Posted in: Survival ModeQuote from harleythr »HOW do u item duplicate that kind of stuff
I ran this through Google Translate (MustTryHarderToExplainMyselfAndAskQuestionsPolitelyInProperEnglish -> English):
Quote from harleythr »Dear Minecraft Community - I was wondering if there is anyway to get MineCraft "cheats" in my browser (like duplicating items, for example), but without having to download anything? Thank you very much for your time.
In short, no.
