I think it would be wise for it to be the week of Thanksgiving, since then people would be off of work/school (in America, anyway).Posted in: News

May 1, 2013Kyte314 posted a message on Minecon 2013 Set For the US East Coast, Details To FollowHmmmm...maybe Mojang should've held Minecon 2011 in Disneyland Los Angeles (or actually it's in Anaheim, but LA is more well known) instead of in Nevada, then have it in Disneyland Paris like they did, and then this year have it in Disneyworld Florida, so then they would have a good relationship with Disney. That way, they could always hold Minecon in a Disney park, which are designed to be accessible and kid-friendly, and that way people could enjoy the convention and the park at the same time (which would save them money).Posted in: News
And once they run out of parks they can do what they want, or just repeat the process. -

Apr 6, 2013Kyte314 posted a message on Minecraft Surpasses 10 Million Sales, 1.6 Feature Spoiler AlertWait, if horses are better than pigs and the carrot on a stick thing, then why did they implement it in the first place? Also, this would most likely mean a whole feature would have to be taken out of the game, a feature that's been in Minecraft for quite a while and that many people probably are attached to, all to add in a similar feature that's supposed to be (and might actually be) better, but since it wasn't what was originally put in, it will also be much less enjoyable.Posted in: News

Apr 5, 2013Kyte314 posted a message on Minecraft Surpasses 10 Million Sales, 1.6 Feature Spoiler AlertWell, if they're adding horses, wouldn't that take away from the pigs we can now ride? In my opinion, I like pigs better, in that they have become a symbol for Minecraft and are much more original than horses.Posted in: News

My idea is not that you can only find certain types of mineral deposits in certain biomes, but just that it is more likely that you would find a certain mineral deposit in a certain biome.

Good point, but I did say that the chunks that would have these deposits would be randomly selected, which would mean a certain percent of chunks would be chosen to contain them. This percent could be nerfed if these deposits became too OP so that they wouldn't be found so often (but, of course, they would still be found more often than they would be now). Also, perhaps this percent, not the percent of finding a certain ore, but the percent of finding a large deposit of a certain ore, could be slightly increased in certain biomes, so that, for example, a desert won't always have a large amount of coal within it, but it will have a slightly higher chance of having a large amount of coal within it. The difference in probability, though, between finding a deposit of coal in a desert and doing the same somewhere else doesn't have to be drastic, but it would be nice for it to be there. Regardless, I somewhat think that these deposits would be more of a later-game aspect (when one would require a much larger supply of minerals than they got from their first few mining trips),and could be located at deeper levels, for example, for more challenge. So, since selecting an area to build a house is one of the first things you do, these deposits would not affect your decision on where to live as much as you might think.
That's actually a great idea.

Now, there is the off chance of finding an actual "coal mine" or coming across more amounts of a mineral than you'd expect in the current version of Minecraft, but this is somewhat rare, and is not intended to be an actual part of the game, as far as I know.
Overall, I think that these changes would greatly improve the terrain and gameplay of Minecraft, and add to aspects such as role-playing and realism. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject, and I don't mind a little criticism, but please nothing offensive. Also, please note that I am not an experienced coder or anything, and therefore I do not know whether or not this would be a "massive undertaking", or "virtually impossible", etc., etc., so please do not write a post about how I know nothing about making or coding a game, because I already know that I do not.
Thank you for your time,
Kyte314
*UPDATE*: It has come to my attention, by Afroknight14, that instead of just large deposits of certain ores spawning just anywhere, they could spawn specifically in abandoned mineshafts. This would give the reasonable implication that the miners who were once mining in the mineshaft were mining for a certain mineral (I know, it's a mouthful), would not drastically affect mining under regular circumstances (in caves), and would give a much needed additional feature to abandoned mineshafts that would give reason for a player to mine in them in the first place (other than the chests and rails).

Well, for the record, this guide did actually mention the aspect of grammar (see Presentation: #5). While it did not specifically call out the bad grammar in the suggestions, or go into a lot of detail on how good/bad grammar affects the quality of your post, it did address the issue.
But yes, this was a decent guide, with certainly pretty fonts.
