I also agree with the idea that they should be scarce, and much more powerful. If they were as rare as the skeleton jockeys and incredibly strong, they could as well methodically attack player structures, tearing them apart rapidly unless, say, they're made out of obsidian.

Though I don't have a problem with them as they are. I built my skull fort middle of ocean, lava flowing out of it's eyes and I plan to make whirlpools around it. If I were to make, say, a giant statue, I imagine I would do the same. And it was hilarious to walk in a lava hole made by an Enderman.

RPG's are a pretty diverse genre anyway. There's not much in common between, say, Wizardry and Fallout. Or Nethack and Mass Effect. I'd say the most common aspects of RPG's are combat, character/item progression and exploration. So when MC has some sort of skill progression, I'd say it qualifies. And it already has a lot of things I wish more PCRPG's would have - freedom, unique monsters, ability to construct and destroy a variety of things, some other things to do than combat...

It's actually pretty fine as it is, just needs more content I think. It's definitely a breath of fresh air from playing linear story grind games, that's like a toilet bowl of a genre which is sucking everything else in, there went the PCRPG, FPS games and what not...

So the HC mode. It could have a life system. Extra lives could even be a rare collectible. Then you'd have a mode where you're ever fighting for your survival - you need to find those extra lives.
