Do you want to relive the excitement of playing Minecraft for the first time and trying to survive your first night? Do you want to enjoy the thrill of having only one life while also playing with others? Then look no further than my new Hardcore Survival Realm!
How does it work? Although technically there is no hardcore on Realms, through the ruse of some command blocks and copy and paste (which took 5 seconds and no trace of it can be found), when you die for the first time you will be automatically forced into spectator mode never to return to life. So in effect, the only difference there will be from an actual hardcore world is that you won't see the hardcore hearts in your health bar and on dying instead of being forced to the main menu, you will be forced into spectator mode with no possibility of playing again. Including me!
I wanted to start this server because I started playing Minecraft 10+ years ago and the game has become demystified for me. I can't find that same excitement of survival the first time I played. Hardcore helps hugely with that, but single player mode becomes lonesome and many hardcore servers are dead or have no community. I hope that by making a hardcore realms server like this, with a small close-knit community, we can relive the excitement of trying to survive in Minecraft for the first time.
So here are the rules:
1. One chance, one life. As stated already, you only get one chance to make it on this server and if you die, that's it. While it may seem harsh if you are unfortunate enough to die early, I think the upside is the excitement of truly trying to survive and the satisfaction of having great adventures when it's the only chance you have. If everyone ends up dead or there are only a few people left that don't mind starting over, then I could consider resetting the server.
2. No griefing. If we are going to survive together, then it makes sense that griefing is banned. I have also turned PVP to OFF. I considered leaving it ON so that you would have to build defences in your base and protect yourself, however to encourage community I think turning it OFF guarantees you can trust your one life on the server with other people. It also means we can fight together with no fear of friendly fire.
3. Must be 18+ I want to have a mature community so I'm putting this rule in place.
4. Once the server is full, new players will be added from the players that die or become inactive. We will leave a memorial for you!
So that's it. I hope I haven't bored everyone with that wall of text. Maybe this is a crazy idea and no one wants to play on server where they can't play the first time they die. But even if there's only one or two people on the server it will make my hardcore experience more enjoyable.
