posted a message on C# Random Sentence Generator
I've been busy programming the last few weeks, so I thought I'd share my latest creation, a program I wrote to generate random sentences. I did it in Visual C# 4.0. Simply put, it generates random sentences using noun/verb/noun patterns. Some of the sentences can be quite absurd. I also included the source code in a text file if anyone wants to compile the program themselves.

Just install, extract and run the SentenceGenerator2 setup. If you have the .net framework installed on your machine, you might not have to run setup.

In total, there are 1,859 sentences that can be generated.

I hate it when people call computers retarded. A computer cannot "**** you off". Computers are systematic and only use formal logic; they cannot get angry at you or decide to act "retarded". if you're frustrated at it, it's your own fault. As HAL put it, "it can only be attributable to human error".

posted a message on Which programming language should I learn?
It really all depends on what you want to do. Programming languages are generally categorized according to their purposes.

For general purpose programming and application programming, you will want to use a language such as C# or C++. They can handle a variety of tasks ranging from mathematics to game programming.

There is a division of programming languages that would fall under category of system programming languages, programming languages that are used in low level applications and operating systems. C is a good example of this. It is difficult to use but very in depth.

Then there are the scripting languages which are used to add onto existing code but make up the bulk of a program less often. These would include languages such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby and Perl. They're robust and easy to use.

Markup languages wouldn't really fall under the category of "programming languages" but are still useful for web page design. These include languages such as XML and HTML.

What makes me cringe is having to listen to pop singers devoid of talent who tend to think that the best thing in life is going to parties and getting hammered.

What I enjoy is a wide range of music including classic 80's/70's songs, classical music, and fast paced symphonic music such as Rob Dougan and the like. In my opinion, talent will always trump over popularity.

I have no idea how to actually ask a girl out. You should probably invite her to a movie, a LAN party or perhaps ask her if she would like to play a nice game of D&D at your house (if you have it).

posted a message on Underrated Geniuses
Are you someone who is aware of the many undervalued geniuses that have made immeasurable contributions to science, politics and technology yet hardly anyone has heard of them?

In my opinion, John Von Neumann was one of the most underrated scientists. He was a polymath who made hundreds of contributions to computer science, mathematics, geometry, theoretical physics, programming, cellular automata and more.

Despite this, almost everyone I know has never heard of him.

Please, tell us of your little known geniuses so that we may all become less ignorant!
