After way too much testing, breaking all mods into small groups and testing with Optifine. I have figured out the issue... I do have to say out of all mods to cause issues it's really annoying it had to be Journey map... I wouldn't mind it was one of the last mods I took out as well!!

So for anyone else, if your playing on 1.15.2 and you want to use preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G1_pre30 you cannot use Journeymap-1.15.2-5.7.0b3. It causes random chunks to stop rendering if it's installed, I don't know if different versions have the same issues, I have not tested.

I knew someone was going to say downgrade! :P I have done this before and it took so long to get all the right versions, I didn't even consider this as an option this time, not worth the effort! Out of curiosity, I said f*** it and just wanted to see how many errors come up when I downgrade that much. To my amazement, there were only 3 mods affected!

So I made the change, got the older mods and loaded it up and I thought it was too good to be true but yes it did actually work with no issues.

BUT sadly it's safe to rule out Optifine as the issue or at least it something else conflicting with it! The rendering issue is still there sadly, anyone have any ideas what could be conflicting with Opti to cause this?

Hey, I did what you said and no difference. I'm still getting the same issue. Also, render regions is permanently turned off I cannot turn it on in the UI.

I'm currently messing around with mods, trying to get a custom pack working. It seems to be running fine but some areas don't render in.

I am using Optifine and my forge version is forge-31.2.43. I know the latest version of Optifine only supports forge-31.2.21 and below, but I have used it on similar versions before without any major issues.

When I remove Optifine the issue does seem to be sorted but I like to use Optifine it keeps the game smooth, any way around this or any alternative replacement for Optifine?

I have also tried Optiforge but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Edit: When changing the graphic settings from fast too fancy, the missing areas just rendering in as with no issues. When i continue to fly new areas generate and don't render in but this is only visual all blocks are there and there is no lag or problems in the areas (other then them not rendering in)

Okay, thanks for your response! Yes, I think your right, I'll need to look over the additional mods I added in but it does feel like a world gen issue.

posted a message on 1.15.2 Modpack ram issue.

I'm Currently playing Craft to Exile [Dissonance] but I added a decent amount of additional mods myself, give or take 40. In terms of gameplay, the packs is fine no issues at all until I decide to do something really intensive. When building large bases I like to play in creative mode, just helps to get things done I can focus on building and so on. I noticed when I was flying around occasionally I would freeze, but never crash. I couldn't figure out what the issue was for a while. In all my other experiences when MC froze it died. So I spent some time just flying around rendering in new areas so I could get it to freeze again, I watch the task manager and seen my Ram was being eaten.

I allocate 8gb to Minecraft the modpack has around 180 mods but i noticed that my ram was hitting 9.5gb when flying. I don't get how, could it be a memory leak?

The pack has never crashed, there are no other issues and this only seems to happen when I'm flying or abusing ore excavator. I'm mainly just worried for later stages of the game, I'd hate to poor in more time for this issue to continue and end up ruining the play through.
