posted a message on ChickenBones Mods
When I try to open up my inventory, minecraft crashes.

    CCC: 1.0.2.10 & 1.0.2.12
    NEI: 1.0.2.14 & 1.0.2.29
(Tested with both versions, matching recommended with recommended and latest with latest.)
    Forge: 10.12.2.1147 & 10.12.2.1161
(Tested with these two versions of forge.)
Tested with a MultiMC instance that put all the mods together.

All error reports complained about the same thing, so only one pasted:

great mod, it's now tied for my favorite mod along with thaumcraft, i just wish i knew some addons for tinkers construct.

On the first post, there is a link to a recover addon that someone made. Otherwise, there are no addons that anyone has brought to our attention.

    Quote from Yusunoha

this config seems to not be working

    B:"Keep levels on death"=true

when I die, I still lose my xp levels, and when I go to the spot where I died, there's still some XP on the ground, but not enough to get back all the levels I had, so the config isn't working. or is perhaps "levels" not xp levels what I'm thinking of?

From what I've noticed, this is how that config option works:
When you die in vanilla, you lose all your levels, but can gain some back by going to where you died.
In Tinkers, with that option marked, you only lose some of your levels. Some of your exp (what Diyo calls essence), lost still drops for you to pick up.

    Quote from Thimbleskull

I only this with all the versions that i personally download:
-I can't switch between pickaxes and all the stuff from the tool forge and the other table so i cant craft anything normal but i can craft it in the modifier if its three things or less i just put it in the squares. Can u for this make a button on your keyboard it switches to the next thing like from modify to hammer
-I can' t use the smeltery
    -I can't name stuff
-I can't make patterns in the stencil table

You do not actually need to be in the tool's section on the tool forge to craft the item. You just need to put your tool parts in the slots in the proper order.
Did you try clicking on the naming bar before trying to type a name in?

I don't know what to put in the tool station to make a broad axe. Also, Argon_Bolt, that's a cool idea! ;)

You need to make the Tool Forge before crafting a lumber axe. Look in the red book in game, it has details.

...Well then, I just watched someone enchant a TC pickaxe and hammer using the Enchanting+ mod. Thought you might like to know mDiyo.

It's not a surprise that another mod can mess with how Tinkers interacts with vanilla mechanics. Enchanting Plus had a way to enchant just about anything you put on the enchanting table (which had been removed in a later version, to my knowledge. I was sad). In the end, if someone wants to deal with trying to enchant Tinker tools, when they aren't meant to be, it's their world. They should just know that they shouldn't be enchanting them.

    Quote from supplez

    ...

Not to sound rude, but you statement falls apart when you look at the controller. It's just eight bricks in a furnace shape. How does it know how much liquid is in the multiblock structure? How does it know where to find lava tanks? How does it know how large the structure is?
The faucet is actually something of a "smart-faucet." It knows you want to pour only two ingots when making a cast. It knows to pour only eight ingots when making a hammer head. It won't overflow the basin. It can take redstone signal to be automated.
Adding a feature where it only starts to pour if you had enough metal in the smeltery does make sense, and it wouldn't be that far off from the current capabilities of the faucet and smeltery in general.

    Quote from Manan6619

So, today in the nether I found that TC pickaxes mine glowstone faster, unlike vanilla ones, just like TC axes and leaves... mDiyo, my respect for you gets greater and greater, even with minor details like these

Want another neat little detail? Take a vanilla sword, find a zombie. Spam attack the zombie till it's dead and watch the durability of the sword plummet by 20 or so. It takes 1 durability for each hit, even if it doesn't deal damage due to the 'invulnerability period' of the monster. Now try it with a Tinker weapon. =)

    Quote from cheifwhat

    ...

As for the Wiki, Diyo does not support any Tinkers wiki. He believe all information should be given in game, or figured out for oneself. There are a couple wikis out there but none seem to be complete. As someone mentioned, taking the time to read the OP is not much time at all. It should be the first place you check, and is not 'looking around.'

    Quote from Arkansyl

    ...

You could be having a couple of issues here. Someone mentioned not having enough material available. Any part considered a 'head' for the tool costs eight material pieces and any part that is considered a 'handle' costs three amterial pieces. You could also have wood/stone/etc. tools disabled in the config. Check your config to make sure mod stone tools (and other materials) are set to true.

    Quote from Zakhep

    ...

The ghost arrow bug is known. As far as I know, arrows don't actually duplicate. If you mess around with them in the inventory, the 'duplicates' should disappear. It's the same problem with other items, whatever problem that may be.

    Quote from Dodge34

    ...

All you need is the latest forge version for 1.5.2 and you should not have any issues with crashing and looking at shortbows.

    Quote from Lfty

    ...

The problem is that GalctiCraft and Tinekrs are using the same extra inventory spots, last I heard. I have not heard of that issue being fixed.

    Quote from Grimlyy

Hi, I've been thinking about your mod and I wanted to test it a really hard way : use ONLY this mod as a metal processor.
    ...

Don't think of the Smeltery as the only available means of metal processing. I can understand wanting to use only the smeltery for a variety of reasons. However, it is meant as more of an upgrade to the furnace. Don't feel bad about using the furnace to smelt your first few ore pieces. It's almost necessary and is an unnecessary restriction if you absolutely refuse to use the furnace for early game ore.

    Quote from chORANGE

    ...

Connected textures in a later version should fix that. Also: if you aren't happy with any textures then make your own! That's what texture packs are for.

    Quote from cpypcy

    ...

It shouldn't be ignoring the ore dictionary. It uses it. However, the smeltery only deals with ingots and ores. Dusts and other odd forms of the metal don't work, if I remember correctly. (I don't use mods that add dusts and such)

    Quote from stringburka

    ...

The controller needs a lava tank on the same level for the smeltery to be recognized. Lava tanks can be on any level separate from the controller, but you need at least one at the level of the controller for the smeltery to work. Does this solve your problem?

The Lumber Axe does not have a 1x9 range. That is the battle axe. The Lumber Axe will chop trees to a height of something such as 30. If a lumber axe does not find a tree, then the lumber axe resorts to a 3x3x3 area to clear of wood

is the reinforced modifier additive or multiplicative?
for example, reinforced V is 1-10%*5=50% chance to consume OR (1-10%)^5=59% chance to consume?
    ...

Each level of reinforced adds another 10%.

my point remains valid, as neither vanilla minecraft nor tinkers construct itself provides you with challenges, that are proportional to the power the heart canisters grant.

and honestly, its not THAT hard to get the diamonds together, as you find the hearts from mobs or in dungeons. its just going to be a matter of time, until you hit that point of "nothing can scare me anymore".

    Quote from KillaMike

I'm inclined to side with this. Vanilla wise and tinkers wise the heart's are rather strong. However at the same time the current idea of vanilla is based around 1.5.2 Vanilla's made a few additions that might make these hearts seem fair game. Like UHC mode. It'll be rough getting there. But once you get there it still probably wont be a cake walk, but it will be less of a tear inducing game with a larger health pool.
    ...

Withers are one of the reasons heart canisters exist.
UHS (Ultra Hard Survival) is another good place to use the heart canisters. With natural health regen turned off, extra hearts come in handy. (For those who want to play UHS, the FTB code for the pack is "UHS")

Also: Rumor has it Tinkers has moved into a new phase, codenamed "Chaos."

There are no modifiers that pertain directly to the bow. there is no way to increase draw speed right now.

    Quote from IStoneI

heart canisters are kind of weird right now. they are a no brainer. if you find miniature hearts, youll build them and get some extra power. well, a lot of extra power, actually.

there is not much by way of decision, like the tool modifiers. i expect, that even the jewelry, that he plans to add will have a lot of crafting and different bonuses to choose from available.

plus, i can see them becoming kind of problematic in combination with stronger armor, when the armor crafting system comes. i mean what is going to beat or threaten you, with 20 hearts of health with a manyullyn armor? (or even diamond level armor).

it might remove a lot of challenge from other mods.

its one of the reasons i really dislike quantum armor or similar "endgame" stuff. the game is more interesting, with more choices avaiable, like the dozens of different tools you can craft for different purposes. than one super tool or super armor, that makes everything redundant and removes every challenge fromt the game.

Tinekrs is not balanced around other mods, so how Diyo codes armor and heart canisters and such might break the balance to other mods.
HEart canisters are only no brainers if you have a bunch of wither bones and diamonds lying around that you aren't using. =P

Ah, my bad. Yeah, I'd had that option configured already, I was under the impression that there may have been another configuration change in the works. I'm not sure if IguanaMan had sent mDiyo a PM or not, as it isn't really my business, but I figured I'd drop in to ask as a user of both mods.

I have been informed recently that "hunger overrides only happen when the disabling of natural regen is on." I don't play with hunger overhaul, so It's up to you to see if that helps.

    Quote from IStoneI

since were already talking about thaumium. will it be meltable in the smeltery like the rest of the metals at any point? it feels kind of weird, that its the only metal, that can still be crafted into tool parts with stencils.

There are not any plans to make thaumium smeltable in the smeltery, no.

Ive been playing around with configs and i cant get
    "Remove Vanilla Tool Recipes"=true
    to work.
    ...

I believe that config option is currently not working, last I remember, because there are other mods that use the vanilla tools in a recipe.
I will find out for sure when I see Diyo next, assuming I don't forget to.

Any way I can change the max. height of the lumber axe to fell naturas huge **** trees?!

There is no way to change the lumber axe height, no. It is on purpose that it cannot fell a Redwood.

    Quote from Delcar

Loving the mod so far - but despite my searching and experimenting, I can't figure out how to make leaf fletching? I've tried Oak, Birch and Spruce Leaves (Spruce Leaves? Really?) with no luck.

I can't check for sure, since I'm not at a comp that can play minecraft, but I believe only oak leaves works for fletching right now.
They are made on a part builder using the fletching stencil.

    Quote from IStoneI

since minecraft 1.6 is introducing item modifiers, including the possiblility, that armor increases your total health pool, it might be worthwile to get rid of heart canisters.

instead of a general massive health increase, miniature red hearts could be better off as armor modifiers, where you will have to choose between a bigger health pool, or other useful things.

Though I almost doubt heart canisters will go away, I actually like that idea. It fits in line with the other tools: pick and choose.
However, I also like the idea of acquiring more health outside of armor, and am hesitant to wish that away.

    Quote from Too-DAMN-Much

as far as the bowstring, i personally suspect it's got something to do with the essence berries that seem to be in place of the silver oreberries...

The Enchanted Bowstring is part of Thaum compatibility, not part of the essence berry addition.

    Quote from Ariannae

I apologize if this has been answered (I've glanced through a number of pages but not seen it mentioned), but were you planning on adding a Configuration option that disabled the changes to Hunger...

Unless it was removed recently, the option to disable hunger changes in the config exists. Last someone posted about it, disabling the changes still did not make Tinkers compatible with hunger Overhaul though.

Oh, by the way, if you plan on keeping the smeltery GUI, can you make it so it shows all the liquids in a big infobox whenever you hover over the internal tank instead of showing only they liquid that you're actually hovering? Sometimes there's too little liquid for me to identify it.

Are you using the latest version? The gui was changed so that even if you had one or two ingots worth of liquid in the tank, it would show up.

is there a way to dismantle tools ? if not, any plans to make somewhat table to recover one of the parts of one tool? what use do the extra new slot on the forge table have? (aside from more tools, the forge have this extra slot compared to the tool station).

super amazing mode, make me remember my afternoons playing vagrant story, combining and smelting my weapons and armors.

There is not and will not be a way to dismantle tools. Diyo has mentioned that he thinks it will be worse for the mod if you could take apart tools. They are permanent as is, since they do not permanently break. Old tools, as I have heard in the past fro Diyo, should be treated as a testament to your progress. Not torn apart to be remade into something else.

Please provide us with a screenshot or two of the smeltery you are trying to build. Also provide a brief description of how you are trying to build the smeltery and why you may think it isn't working. With that, we may be able to help you figure out what is wrong.

I know it's a tall order, but it'd be great to be able to melt any ores in the smeltery. I'm a bit tired of Buildcraft/TE/Forestry stuff and the additional ores from FTB or Tekkit would be cool to melt. Nothing more complex than building blocks or ingots, really. Obviously if they did cool things in Tinkerer's it'd be appreciated too.

I just had to decide what path to go down - build ThermalExpansion stuff or spend time building a smelter from Tinker's - I chose the latter but was bummed that it didn't just melt down stuff that I fed it.

Great mod though! I'm really enjoying it.

If you know how to code, or are willing to learn java/minecraft/forge, then pick up the API for Tinkers and try adding smeltery recipes on your own for the ores that don't work. That would probably be faster than waiting for Diyo to do it himself.

Any chance we could have the 1.4.0 version download? I have been trying to use the the latest version, but whenever my NEI interface tries to render the bows/shortbows, it crashes from a rendering screen error. 1.4.0 is when the shortbows were first added, so it might work. Also, I have been adding Tinkers Construct to a mod pack I am creating which currently consists of 74 mods altogether. Thanks.

You need a later version of forge. You'll need to run 1.5.2 for shortbows. The last version of 1.5.2 forge should work for you.

You need to add enough lapis to a tool to acquire the actual fortune levels. Luck by itself without adding fortune to the tool doesn't do anything.
Now, if you already have fortune, then my answer is it should apply to each block in the 3x3. I have not, however, acquired enough lapis to test this and haven't ever thought about testing it in a test world. You could, perhaps, try it in a test world though.
