posted a message on Is it only me who hates the new boats??

Since they changed them again in 16w04a they have fixed a lot of the problems stated in the earlier part of this thread. They're much faster now, don't break upon hitting land/lily pads, and are easily maneuverable. Definitely an upgrade over old boats.

posted a message on A machine to create tipped potion arrows (Snapshot 15w45a+)

I made a machine that can create tipped potion arrows in the most recent snapshot. This only requires you to push a button to use. Quite useful for survival worlds.

posted a message on Smallest Ender Pearl Station

I recently created the smallest ever Ender Pearl station. It gives out a full stack of Ender Pearls and only takes up 5 blocks of space.

Let me know what you think!

posted a message on MineCon 2016

I can only see Minecon 2016 being in one of the following 3 locations: New York, Chicago, or San Diego.

Most other secondary U.S. cities don't make sense due to lack of secondary attractions and logistical travel concerns. I'd be shocked if Minecon 2016 is anywhere other than one of those three places. Of the three New York seems the most logical as there has yet to be a Minecon in the Northeast U.S.

posted a message on Dual wield confirmed at 1.9?

Dinnerbone explicitly stated in later tweets that dual wielding will not be implemented. So you won't be able to carry two swords or a sword and a bow for instance.

What you can do is carry a shield in your off hand, or a item. This means you can carry around for instance a clock in one hand and a sword in the other. Still useful (especially if we can carry and place blocks in one hand with a weapon in the other) but not the same as dual wielding.

I think it is for the best because dual wielding would just make PvP even more of a spam click war than it already is.

posted a message on [1.9 is out!] Get ready for 1.9! [Updates and Information from Mojang AB!]

The Combat Update's success or failure balances on whether or not they change mobs or ignore them. If they don't do anything to fix their AI or difficulty, they will become even more of a joke, to the point where they migheswell not even exist. However, if they make mobs actual threats again, like they were before The Adventure Update...hell, it might even restore my faith in Mojang.

The problems like mob AI pausing after taking damage and not immediately tracking the player have been fixed for 1.9 according to the bug tracker so that should help quite a bit.

posted a message on [HELP] Chunk loading

Yes. You can do it in survival. It involves a glitch with arrows and slabs. I would recommend downloading the world and checking it out for yourself as there is a lot that is going on behind the scenes. Note that this is for a remote chunk loader. If you have a chunk that is closer to spawn chunks, there are easier ways to do it.

If you want to load a chunk that is within reasonable distance of your spawn chunks you can put a hopper with an item inside at the border of every chunk that leads to the chunk you want loaded. Then once you reach your chunk you want loaded have the hoppers surround your loaded chunk in a 5x5 chunk area (centered around the chunk you want to load). This will permanently load the specified chunk as if it was a spawn chunk.

    posted a message on Slingshot!
I think it is a good idea but I think you need to increase the available repetoire of the slingshot itself.

For instance, imagine besides rocks/stones if it could fire splash potions at enemies. This would add an entirely new element to PvP. Suddenly you have the ability to launch potions at your enemies from range and affect them with slowness, weakness, instant damage, etc.

You could also buff members of your team at range with potions. This would revolutionize PvP in Minecraft which is something that Mojang has wanted to do for some time.

I feel like your overall recipe is okay but I would prefer something a bit more sturdy.

I've put together this potential slingshot recipe. It uses a bowl to launch the bigger potions and leads for (presumably) greater elasticity than just string. Either way I think slingshots would be a really good addition to the game as a whole.

I feel like the sift rate on Zinc is way too low. I've spent an hour digging sand, sifting it, transforming it just to get basic tools. Taking way too long - which decreases my enjoyment. I feel like I 'get it' and need some way to more speedily get the steel...

I felt the same way. Took a really long time to get basic tools because the Zinc drop rate from the sieve seemed very low.
