Don't Believe in a God, turns out there is a God- Hell.
I'm basing this off the Christian religion, simply because it personally makes the most sense to me. If there is even a fraction of a chance that there is a biblical Hell, I'd devote my entire life to God, be he real or not.

That depends on your interpretation of religion. Christians say that God loves everybody, and in the Bible it says that anyone who lives a virtuous life will go to Heaven. Christian morals basically parallel Deism, so Deists (and others) are safe.
    Or are they?

    Quote from name="John 14 »
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I don't ever recall any verse in the Bible saying that anyone who lives a virtuous life will go to heaven. This directly contradicts the core teachings of the Bible, which state that only by believing in Jesus can one get to heaven.

No they are not. Islam teaches killing.

Get your facts straight before you flame. Islam is about PEACE, you ignoramus.

    Quote from name="Surah 8 »
When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.

    Quote from name="Surah 9 »
Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.

    Sounds quite peaceful to me.

    Matthew 5:17–18

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Seems that all the old laws still stand.

So how do you christians decide which laws are still in effect.

    a·bol·ish
    1. To do away with; annul.
    2. To destroy completely.

Jesus did not come to make the law null and void. It is still valid, but He came to fulfill its demands. He was the only one who kept the full law, and was the supreme sacrifice to completely erase man's sin. That's why salvation is by faith in Jesus only; the law is no longer binding man. The purpose of the law after the crucifixion was to teach people about sin, so that they realized they couldn't "get themselves to heaven" and that they needed a Savior.
    Quote from name="Galations 3 »
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

    Quote from name="Romans 7 »
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

i have nothing against religion but i cannot follow a god if it creates more wars than happiness take hitler for example HE HATED JEWS RELIGION CAUSED WW2!!!!

Hitler hated the Jewish race, not necessarily the Jewish religion. Even if he did, what does God have anything to do with it?

The reason I believe in God is because I don't believe that something can come from nothing. I'm not going to bore you with "Could a 747 evolve in a field" arguments, but I will say that it does seem rather unlikely that if there was at one time absolutely nothing, anything would form.

Where did god come from then?

If everything had to have had a cause, then somewhere along the line there would've had to have been something self-existent and uncaused. If it's not the universe (And most everyone agrees the universe had a beginning), then, unless I'm having a crass misunderstanding, there must have been a Creator at the beginning.

Additionally, if the universe exists for no reason, has no purpose or meaning, and we are all here by accident, then how did it naturally create beings obsessed with having a purpose and struggling to find the meaning behind things? I don't think it adds up, personally.

Also, if the disciples just made up the story of Jesus, and they knew it was all hogwash, why would they feel so strongly about it they'd die for it if they just made it up?

    Lastly,

That might be the case if they didn't provide anything of value, but according to their claims they put you on the road to eternal salvation, which is a pretty good deal.

    Their claims are wrong.
    Quote from name="Ephesians 2 »
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

No amount of giving gets you to heaven, just faith in Jesus Christ.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
    Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
    Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
    Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
    Then why call him God?

    Proud Atheist!

God gave us free will to follow Him or to not follow Him. He wanted people to worship Him freely, not have 6 billion robots bowing down to Him all the time.

I am a VERY devout Christian! Lutheran, to be exact. My favorite holiday is Easter! one reason is that I love all the awesome Hymns we sing. (NOT praise or contemporary, old school stuff) Anyway, I have many reasons to believe god. Like, the Tyre prophecy.

    Even better, the Wormwood prophecy.

    Quote from name="Revelation 8 »
    And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

    Wormwood in Russian is Chernobyl.
When Chernobyl exploded, it probably would have looked like "a star from heaven burning like a lamp" or something similar to someone in the first century A.D. When Chernobyl exploded, fallout was carried by the wind and rendered several lakes and rivers toxic.

So answer me this, is every person who wants to believe in God destined to walk a path of bible-thumping

Christians are told specifically NOT to try and shove the Bible down people's throats if they don't want to hear it.

    child tormenting/brainwashing,

I don't see how raising a child in your religion is "tormenting". I would think it normal to raise a child in your faith, but if they really decide eventually it's ridiculous, again, don't force it on them.

while going on a holy crusade to murder all non-believers

Again, not a Biblical doctrine. Jesus said to "turn the other cheek", not to "kill all that oppose Me".

and preach to the high heavens on how wrong every single other human being in existence other than themselves are?

Once again, not Biblical. All Jesus said was basically to "tell them this message. If they don't believe it, leave them alone." Sadly, this is not what a lot of Christians do, instead taking the approach of "if you don't believe this you're going to hell, turn to Jesus NOW!"

I just talked to him earlier today, and he told me that he got phished and that he managed to recover his account. He didn't ask me for log in info, and gave me enough info to prove that he was actually back in control (i.e. Exactly what we did last night on Minecraft, some old stuff from back in March, etc.).

Back when I played RuneScape (Which I thankfully no longer play), there was a character called "Koschei the Deathless". I just shortened it to Koschei. It took a while for me to learn who Koschei really was.
