I didn't expect the opinions to be this mixed about which glowstone to choose... What about a compromise between the first and second ones? It will still have the stones, and the background will be lighter than the first one but darker than the second one. I think the real problem with those is that the first one looks too dark to be glowstone and the second one looks too much like gold.
Alright, let's settle this debate right now so we don't have to talk about it any more! I like the new glowstone better because it doesn't look like ugly yellow crap... but some people have different opinions... so it's time to collect your opinions and make a decision!

Hey Kool,
You know what I'd love to see in this pack? An up-sized icons.png!
Yes, yes, I do realise that it is a little extra work, but I think that the smoothness of the lines that you could create, especially for the hunger bar and the server availability icons, would make the little extra time alllllllll worth it!
Just an idea...
Also, how come red cows get tails but normal ones don't?! What sort of favouritism is this! :wink.gif:
Okay FINE lixivium. Since you're helped me a lot with testing the textures I will work on a higher definition icons file. As for the cow tails, I can probably do that too. Consider it an early/late birthday present (if I actually finish both of them).
Mixcraft v39 Pack has just been released. It is compatible with the second 1.9 pre-release. Once again, some of the textures I'm only using as placeholders, (such as the blaze powder, magma cream, and spider eyes, which were made by Lithiumsound). I did this because I wanted all of you to be able to use the pack over the weekend, but I am still working on finishing up the rest of the textures that need editing.
Unless there is another pre-release, Mixcraft Version 40 will be released shortly after the Beta 1.9 update.
when I click on the link,m it takes me to an ad website. when I click on the skip ad, its blocked. is there some way you could put it somewhere a little more accesable? thanks
There is a direct link at the bottom of my first post.
And now for a completely unrelated note: I will be uploading Mixcraft v39 tomorrow morning, which will work with the second 1.9 pre-release!
Not sure you guys remember me, but I was having tons of trouble installing the pack before. I finally got it installed last week, and it is amazing. I especially love how the diamond block can be used for magnificent flooring. If I could spare money right now I would, so instead I shall give you pluses. Be grateful.
Thank you! Finally someone who appreciates the beauty of my diamond block and knows how to use it! XD
The new glowstone texture looks terrible (No offense). I liked the old one better. Even the old one wasn't my favourite though. It has to be like the old one but more uniform if you know what I mean.
To be honest, I think the old one looked terrible. The stones in both the default texture and my old texture don't look like they're shining or glowing at all. If it wasn't for the fact that the block emits light, all those stones would just look like big round hunks of some ugly yellow rock.
At least this new texture looks like it would actually emit light. As for the "stone" part of it, I'm still not done and I'm going to try to make those glowing patches look more like stones than just balls of light.
It isn't very easy to make a glowstone block that does ALL of these:
- Looks natural hanging down from the ceilings in the nether.
- Looks aesthetically pleasing used as lamps or placed in houses.
- Looks like it is actually glowing aside from emitting light.
- Looks like it is made out of stones that tile properly.
This is probably the second most annoying project I have taken on, aside from the biome colors.
Since the new Pre-Release for Beta 1.9 has been released, I have already noticed plenty of new textures that need to be redone. If anyone could explain the nature of each of these new textures, especially the ones in the gui folder like the "evil heart bar" and the new items and the new icons in the inventory file, that would be very helpful. The faster I know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing the faster I can actually get to doing it, and the faster I can release the next version for all of you to use.
EDIT: Is it just me... or does that new block look suspiciously like it could be the lantern?
Just released a test update for the Beta 1.9 Pre-release. Everything should work properly. I put in my current version of the new glowstone so you can see my progress, but it is still not done yet. I also had to change the red mushrooms to a single red mushroom, so they don't hang off of the top of Mooshrooms anymore.
Please try out the pack and post here if you see ANYTHING that needs changing.
NOTE: Some textures are just being used as placeholders and are NOT the final textures! I'm saying this because I borrowed a few things from the faithful 32x32 upscale of the default textures, because they're almost identical to the default and it just makes my life a little easier until I create my own versions.
Ah, I see. It says on the wiki that the pumpkin is like a mask or helmet. It has a head that is underneath the pumpkin. I guess the rest of the texture is snow golem only, but the head is taken directly from the pumpkin texture.
Alright, so then I'm going to have to change both if I want the head and body to look normal and match

What if I edit the alternate glowstone texture so it tiles a bit better? Could we use that?

The 1.9 Pre-release textures still work with 1.8
I would never release a pack that wasn't compatible with the most recent official version.

I'm going to take new pictures over the weekend and re-format my original post. I will include the armor.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I should have the textures done by tomorrow night.

Thanks lixivium. Those leggings are going to be annoying. Good point about the glowstone powder.
And yes, I have seen the swamp water. I think it looks really good, especially with the lily pads.

Starting work on new textures now...
